Now that I've had a chance to really play around with the options, I have a question. How does the collector base choice, background and Anderson effect the outcomes? All the ones I've tried have be high EMS playthroughs, so maybe it effects low EMS outcomes? Or is for content that isn't finished yet? Just curious.
If you saved Anderson, you only need 4000 EMS to get the "best" endings. Otherwise you need 5000.
There's also a "bad" ending that normally plays if you have less than 1750 EMS. If you saved the collector base, the chances of getting the bad ending go up slightly (it will play if you have 2100 EMS or less). That might be based off incorrect information; I found some site explaining the various endings that said that would happen, so I put it in the form. I would be happy to change that based on more reliable info.
Your background will show up in your eulogy, assuming you chose a path where Shepard doesn't survive.
And thank you again for the feedback, it's really great.

Anyway, point taken and I still love your vision.
It makes perfect sense to me. Without the illogical conclusions of the Starchild to guide them, they are still composed of the minds of countless harvested species. Contrition would be the least that I would expect of them. (In fact, even pure AI is capable of contrition, as evidenced by Legion in Lair of the Shadow Broker.)

Messaged this to a few of my friends that played the game and everyone has loved it, all agreed it was much better than the endings we were given. They asked my to post and thank you again on their behalf, so add 3 more to your number of supporters.
That is so nice. Thank you.
I appreciate each and every message of support, though I don't reply to each one, because, well, that would require me to type about five hundred messages. It means a lot to me, though.

Oh, I totally agree it's plausible. It's more of a balancing problem, viewed from a worldbuilder's perspective. Any "higher powers" must show some restraint in dealing with the others. Some form of Prime Directive would be appropriate. So...I'm not saying there shouldn't be any interaction, but such interaction should be introduced into the universe very carefully.Optimystic_X wrote...

Finally got this to work. Had javascript enabled but it wasnt working. In the process of getting it to work - borked my Windows XP, fried a motherboard, killed a power supply, and went a full week while getting it all fixed without a computer. Moral - certainly better than what we got from BioWare.
Yikes! Sorry about that!

This just goes to show how pathetically broken the actual ending is. I mean, Garrus starving to death rather than going down fighting?

Plus, game writing actually requires a pretty different set of skills from the sort of straightforward fiction writing I used to make those slides (or the journalistic kind of writing that I do professionally). I think game writing would be a fun challenge, but I'm not necessarily particularly qualified.
This. A million times this. I've always felt that what's really holding video games back as an artform is this pervasive idea that writing for a video game is just like writing for a movie or writing a book, except your action scenes are player controlled.
Good video game writing is a different animal that should be based on audience participation. In its purest I believe video games should be like the Star Trek holodeck: You create a setting with characters that have their own goals and motivations and work to pursue them. Your story is created as a result of these various interactions, and especially the input of the player. Technology might not be at that point yet, but we get fairly close (see: Skyrim)
Sorry to go off-topic, you just said something I believe should be the standard rather than the exception as it is now.

Thank you, it gave me a wonderful sense of closure for the game.
The part with Shepard embracing Liara after searching for the normandy for years becoming an enduring image of the reaper war really affected me (it really suited the mindset i played the character with)
Garrus retiring to Tahiti and spawning an animated series was genius.
The balance you struck with Joker and EDI was very good and ensured a bittersweet emotional response regardless of choice of endings.
All in all, i think you fleshed out, compensated for and justified Biowares decisions wonderfully.
I've bookmarked your page and i can see myself going back to it after all future playthroughs.
Again, Well done! and thank you.
