To keep track of the multitude of Kickstarter game projects, I think this thread is in order.

There are great projects going on, but not enough concentrated info on them. Also, we could use some discussion on the games.

I'll try to keep the original post as updated as possible - although I do have little time to spare. :/

So here are the games that I'm currently aware of as Kickstarting:

Path of Exile

(it's not officially on kickstarter, but the better for us - kickstarter and amazon gets a huge amount of money from the devs posting on kickstarter.com, but from the homepage, which I linked here, the whole of the money goes to developers - here's a good picture that implies the system's identity with kickstarter projects)

Wow Tortured Hearts looks great. I'd also like to mention Takedown a "hardcore tactical shooter"

Dead State is also "kicking around" the idea of raising funds via Kickstarter.

The developer is Brian Mitsoda (worked on Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Alpha Protocol and NWN 2).

There should be a Tex Murphy game around the corner as well. :)

I heard about the tex murphy kickstart from a previous thread, and I'd welcome that. A leisure suit larry reboot would be interesting; From what I'd read, the previous sequels bombed big time. Time to return to your roots, BioWare Sierra! :P

There is a reason in the video they say "sorry" it was terrible imo.

@Naughty. I've been following Dead State forever! :bandit:

Was just curious. Pen n paper RPGs are too hardcore nerd for me to try, so that really left only one outlet for me to see if the setting was as cool as it sounded.

Well, if you happen to have a Super Nintendo console handy, there's...

I can't remember but it's just a few maps. It's a shooter you won't really see the world of Shadowrun. It's one of those only online shooters with no campaign.
All the previous Shadowrun games.

It is, the 2007 game was simply a poor implementation.

I saw this today forgot to mention! A game from Jane Jensen who worked on great adventure games like King's Quest and Gabriel Knight trying to raise money for Pinkerton Road.

I will probably throw a few dollars Jane Jensen's way. There are nowhere near enough worthwhile adventure titles being made these days. I recently bought Gray Matter, so getting a possible sequel would be nice. Although some of those other concept art pieces look interesting too.

*hugs Skelter192*

I never heard of her or her games before, but this looks more promising than all the other kickstarters. Everyone should go and drop some bucks in her bucket.

I'm really excited about Wasteland 2 :3

Course, since I've been replaying Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines lately I am curious if there is any talk about remastering the game or coming out with another Vampire game altogether (not talking about the WoD MMO).

Clearly, Tim Schafer is genuinely enjoying the whole kickstarter craze.

Possible - I never thought they'd remaster Beyond Good & Evil, and yet, here we are. Most of the game still looks fantastic as is, but it's mostly goofy animations that may be bogging it down for others.

All I know about WoD IP is the MMO. Should so petition Overhaul games to do it! After Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment ofcourse.

I saw this thread when it had 0 posts beyond the OP, I didn't understand wtf it is, can someone explain, like I get the general concept, raise money to produce a game...or did I get that wrong too.

A person or team has an idea for a game. They make a kickstarter so people can donate money to get the game developed. However Double Fine had created a kickstarter since they couldn't find publishers to well publish an adventure game and Double Fine raised more than enough money so now we are seeing big names trying to get some great old school games developed. Brian Fargo being one of the biggest.

So people just donate whatever they can to the kickstarter and there are several tiers of rewards such as for Wasteland 2 at $15 you get the game, $50 you get a physical copy, cloth map, digital soundtrack and at $75 you get all that plus beta access. It's a way for developers to get their games created when they don't have the money or couldn't find the publishers but this also means they have complete freedom to make the game they want. You should see the Wasteland 2 pitch video some publishers want cheesy romances, or a wasteland ****ing shooter. It's also a great way to see "dead genres" come back.

And you can always navigate the kickstarter page for more info. I for one was introduced to it from the ortis thing a few months back. Didn't take a lot of effort to read the page through and put one and two together.
