Thanks for this thread ( I think ), I'd not seen anything like this before, and stumbled over a game last night where we had a level one and level 6 player playing on gold. I said, wtf, ok I'll try it but it isn't going to be pretty. Instantly the other three took off for that room down there - I finally had to run down there also because I was getting swarmed.
I have a couple of comments.
(1) Whoever figured this strategy out is really creative. I'm sure that the developers never thought of this strategy when they designed the maps. You don't really have to leave that room to complete any of the "disable device" objectives, and kill top targets, etc.
(2) This really is cheap, and dilutes the value of a gold match. I just beat gold with a team the night before for the first time - really hard ( cerberus - with four and five phantoms, four or five Atlas on the higher waves ). All of us had advanced weapons ( widows, claymore, etc ) that were leveled up and level 18 and higher players. It was a real struggle. To think that a level 1 and six player can beat gold is pretty ridiculous.
(3) I did not mind the 70,000 credits ( I hate having to buy those darn random packs - another thread ), but I'll not do this strategy again, too cheap imo.

As usually, when talking about tactics it's good to keep in mind that Gold is already easy enough even without any planning/communication. So you don't need to come up with great tactic to beat the Gold easily (pretty much anything is viable).
Though it's nice to know about this tactic in case someone attemps to use it on pug games.

Coming up with this tactic isnt clever or imaginative.
You can stick an engineer behind cover in any place of any map versus geth and have very similar results.
Thats why i cant wait until they nerf the decoy and people will actually have to learn how to play the game.
Maybe it will finally get these idiots out of gold and back to bronze where they belong.

tl;dr: hit decoy when it dies.

Thanks for the write-up OP. I was wondering how to make my Decoy useful
seems like most enemies just ignore it. Nice picture too!

The only time I use this strategy is when the team is okay with me doing Decoy spamming while I read. Otherwise it's too boring. Have had some good times when I noticed it falling apart (Pyros/Prime ignoring decoy)

I still personally feel its better (and its faster aswell) To have 3 people stand ontop of the ladder in the middle and have the decoy salarian at the bottom of the ladder putting his decoys in the stairs. Since this location is more central you'll have a shorter distance to mission objectives compared to if u stay inside (think if u get the one on the platform)
Also if people just refrain from going inside when standing up there they'll never spawn behind you and if they do its only some rocket troops anyway.

With the glitch from the last promoting where some characters have their full skillsets and negative skillpoints until they reach lvl 20 again you do not know if maybe there was a full skillset behind those lvlels or not.
Other than that it is the mostly known way at this moment so most players will probably stick with it. I personally dont mind doing it on random now and then but any more than that and i will feel bored again (or like i am doing chores).
Each his/her own i guess.

I like adding my sentry turret as a QI for this map it seems to help. Spamming cyro or ind blast works well too.

its because of threads like this that the engineer will get nerfed. They need to though, im tired of ppl running to that boring camp. Kinda makes me sick to see the noobs in this thread saying this helped them. If you didn't already know about it by now then you are a noob

I have a question for people about this tactic.
I've done it successfully a few times but last night I joined a group and we had no answer for the primes. First few times I've done it there were 3 adepts and me (QE). Seemed pretty good. Flew through it. Yesterday was SE and QE, QI and KS. For the most part we did good until the primes showed up.
So what kills the primes pretty quick (besides rockets).
I love the QE with this tactic i can throw the turret in 2-3 pretty decent locations for added firepower. Wondering if I should of went with rockets instead of flamethrower though.
