As an update, I did get a reply to my pm to Thomas Abram. I had specifically mentioned PS3 imports in my message and his answer was that whether or not you could get the best endings would vary from import to import, and that he wasn't sure specifically about PS3 imports but that he "assumed" the "best endings" were available and doesn't have any information that leads him to believe otherwise.

But... but what about non-importers? Are they barred from getting the breath ending without multiplayer? It's not that big a deal at the moment but with the extended cut on the way, it really might be an issue.

If you gave him a savegame, would he tell you what you're missing. Data mining reveals no possiblity whatsoever that 4000 is achievable. There simply are not enough points.

I highly doubt it. Fortunately, I sent him a list of all the war assets ingame and how they amount to less than 4,000 EMS rating. Still waiting for a reply though.

Got another reply, a very direct "There is enough to get 4000 EMS." So I guess those saying that Jarrett Lee is talking about the green ending are wrong. They definitely believe there are enough assets to get the breath one. So, are we missing something?

Masseffect twitter is telling people you can get above 4,000 EMS (actually 5,000 EMS is what you want for "best" ending I think) by scanning planets. I don't think it is possible; I used the Prima strategy guide and IGN for all scanned planets. Of course, my computer blew 2 weeks ago and the ME3 save files were not recovered. Luckily I had my ME1/ME2 saves on separate drive from when I reformatted last fall. So, I will go back and replay but certain it still will be same result. Wish we could get a response on this. He said he is checking into it; I hope he is.

But again, I used the Prima strategy guide so I did not miss ANY quests and IGN guide so did not miss ANY planets. My 2 mistakes I think were specter communications which I don't think would give you the 300 plus EMS that Mr. Abrams indicates we can get. .

Again, I had near perfect imports (don't want to give specifics so not to spoilers).

Did he give a deatailed explanation on how?

Has he requested a save game so he can see what we are missing? And I do think it is important that we reiterate it's not just 4,000 but 5,000 that should be attainable. Otherwise, you are indeed gimped if you don't MP or use DataApp.

The best i got was 5k EMS, but that was my first ever ME3 playthough. That was with multiplayer

no, it's really not. Bioware has stated that it is easily possible just by playing single player. Whether or not you max out the bar doesn't really matter, it's just what you do and how you play. I ended with 7,500 something, and i didn't even promote any multiplayer characters. I did all of the side missions, n7 missions, side quests, and main missions, and got the From Ashes DLC. I did that no problem. 

Of course if you're starting a new game, haven't played me1 or me2, then you'll have a lot less war assets due a lack of characters. You also have to play it right, making certain characters from past games survive will add a lot onto your war assets.

We are not discussing War assets; We are discussing EMS.  So you had 15,000 War assets and 7,500 EMS?  I find that very difficult to beleive unless you used gibbed save editor.

Again, I sent Thomas a list detailing every war asset I could find (Coalesced, internet, the works). The total amounts to less than 4,000 EMS for a "perfect" run (including imports). So, no, until Thomas can show me where to get an additional 300 to 1,300 war assets, it's not possible.

No, 4000 works with the right ME2 choice.

I got the game guide. It tells you how to get the best ending possible out of every mission, and also how to solve a certain problem between two races that ends in a perfect truce and gets both of them on your side. That helps a lot. 

Also importing a perfect save from me2 helps a lot. You get all of the characters that survive the game from that.

Than Odan and I actually had higher war assets and EMS than you.  That is the point we are trying to make; acheiving 4,000 EMS (and actually 5,000 EMS should be the goal) does not seem possible.  Alan, please PM me that ME2 choice.

You do understand the difference between War Assets (WA) and Effective Military Strength (EMS), right?

EMS = GR(%) * WA / 100

In SP alone you can get a total of 7,524 WA, which means an EMS rating of 3,762.

You've got to be kidding me.

NG+ refers to any benefits you get from playing a second time. This could be: new items, unlocking new areas, keeping all your stuff (weapons, armor), unlocking new powers/abilities, etc.

I sent an answer back, which was poorly written! I've clarified but have not listed my war assets beyond the total figure. I asked whether there was anything planned that would mean that I get the ending my war assets warrant without multiplayer. I'm not hopeful. But I was polite.

I may be wrong about an ME2 choice being the difference; I thought it was the final P/R choice, which does change red and blue ending thresholds. But other reports say that the EMS 4000 ending requires making the Charm/Intimidate checks in the final dialogue. All of them.

Can't verify this myself. I don't have any saves with 4000 EMS to test with

There certainly is a cap. WAs come from specific actions. You can't grind for them. MP excepted, of course.

Interesting. I can account for total war assets up to and including the attack on TIM's base, but nothing beyond that.

It doesn't really make sense that you can still gather war assets in the middle of the final battle.
