Liara is awesome. Squishy, but still one, if not the, best squadmates. Even on Insanity. She doesn't even die that much for me.
Insanity question: Squad mates on their backs more often than The Consort?

In all 3 games, soldier is the easiest class. Use soldier, focusing on snipers and assault rifles. Keep your distance from enemies, so that you don't get your squadmates killed. The one class where you're like Rambo and your squadmates are like Star Trek redshirts is Vanguard. You have to get in close to your enemies and run around all over the place. Your squadmates will be getting out of cover often to keep up, plus are more vulnerable cause they're closer to the enemy. With both ME2 and ME3 soldier, I rarely ever ran out of medkits.

Actually, for me she was the most vulnerable, but I always brought her on missions. As a sniper, her stasis power is absolutely awesome, best way to line up a headshot.

I am currently replaying ME 2 and while squad mates die more often, they also seem to do alot more damage wise and have superior path finding when given move commands. I found squadmates in ME 3 to be completely useless when not given power commands to the point where they might as well not be there.

During my first run on insanity My squadmates were Liara and EDI. All game long. I was surprised that Liara didn't die a lot, I only noticed that she had like 320 health in the very last mission

Liara & Garrus have suicidal AI- they run into melee range and die ....
James is cowardly - tries to keep distance - survives much better ...
