why did you originally choose the destruction ending rather than the control or synthesis ending? Did you do it b/c you thought Shepard was potentially being indoctrinated? You just hate the Reapers? or something else.

Basically, I just want to know what was going through your mind and why you chose destruction.

*****FYI - If you chose a different ending (Control or Synthesis) feel free to put that line of reasoning as well and why you did not choose Destruction.

I originally chose Destruction because ever since I played Mass Effect for the first time, destroying the Reapers has always been the goal.

I also destroyed because that's what we were going for all along no? to get rid of the Reapers who have been trolling us since game 1.

Because it looked like it would ****** off star Hitler the most. However, when given a choice of mind control, eugenics or genocide I found genocide the least repulsive. Anyone who chose eugenics as the star child's final solution for peace in the galaxy sickens me.

Because no one can control the reapers
Because synthesis takes away all free will of the galaxy to forge their own destiny.
I eliminated green faster than i did blue.
Red was the only one that kept to my morals and I know that the Geth, Legion, and EDI would understand and support that choice.

I don't play or examine things critically my first time through unless I'm told to do so, ergo I picked synthesis and came to regret it after thinking on my decision. So, I played through again and picked destroy; it wasn't perfect, but it was the closest thing to what we've been desiring throughout the entire series.

There are a few reasons I picked it.

The first, immediate kneejerk was - Anderson wanted it. It's his image seen doing it. I wanted to do what Anderson wanted.
Secondly, it's what we were supposed to be doing all along.
Thirdly, I... kind of wanted to get rid of Edi. >_>

Actually, my big main reason though, was because I really liked the idea of my mostly pure Paragon (with a sliver of Renegade, if that) picking the... "Renegade" (notice quotes) option.

And I heard pretty music when I walked towards it. Really bad music when I walked towards the other two. I dunno.

I chose destroy, because it was what I set out to do and I was not buying anything the starchild was selling me.

Two days later I read about the indoctrination theory and found another reason to like destroy!

Because I felt like I should do whatever displeased the Reaper construct starjar the most and destroy seemed to do that. I also still believe that if my cyborg Shep can survive destroy despite having all her implants fried by it, then it's possible that the Geth and EDI can survive it as well. There's no reason to assume the starjar tells you the truth; why would he? You're up there trying to kill him.

"If we destroy them this ends today, but if you can't control them."
"I'm going to end this war and send the reapers back to hell."

Its what Shepard wanted, its what I wanted. And then I woke up.

Control meant grabbing a pair of live wires and electrocuting myself.
Synthesis meant taking a flying leap into a death ray.
Destroy meant being hit in the face with a gratuitous explosion.

Always choose gratuitous explosions.

Many reasons. Main goal of the whole series was to destroy the Reapers so they could never kill again. Could never betray Anderson. The other two choices are awful. Synthetic life dies, but we really never see proof of that. Shepard lives.

I misheard the kid and thought that this option was the only one that wouldn't destroy the relays, cause I knew that everyone would be screwed if they were. Since you can't go back and ask questions, I was stuck with this false assumption.

I didn't like the other 2 options.

I hadn't read anything on the endings before finishing the ending, but I thought control was some sort of trap.

Synthesis didn't sit well with me either because of the whole True Geth vs. Heretics conflict. I kept remembering Legion's discussions in ME2 about how they should forge their own destiny, and not accept the "short cuts" of accepting the old machine's gifts (Yeah they kind of went against that impulse in ME3 but it was in the face of being annihilated). Synthesis felt kind of the same way, so I didn't like that option either.

Destroy seemed like the only logical choice.

I looked at it this way. Synthesis is essentially what the reapers are already doing its really Reaper Harvesting Lite. Control has no guarantee the cycle is really broken.
I heard the options and said if im going down you are all coming with me.

It's the least evil of the three evils that are offered.

Also, Shepard gets to live and get laid for all his efforts.

Regardless of my views of the indoctrination theory, I will never trust a reaper let alone there master.
There is also that whole problem of, the reapers free will . Considering all it seems god kid can do is start the culling(He cant even open the arms in 1), I doubt shep could stop Harby and his buds from finishing what they started.

From the moment Shepard realized the TRUE threat of the Reapers, that has been the goal. "Destroy them or they Destroy us".
No doubt, the possibility of destroying a newly freed Geth and possibly even EDI is a heavy price. But no decision Shep made has been light. Shepard never wavered from her course to destroy the Reapers and nothing StarGodBoy could say would cause me to make her do otherwise.

I chose destroy because that's what I set out to do from the beginning; destroy the reapers, and I'll be damned if some translucent child is going to talk me out of doing just that.

The Reapers had to pay for their crimes against the galaxy. The loss of the Geth and EDI was an unfortunate, but necessary sacrfice, imo.

I chose destroy since that's what my Shep's mentor said to do (Anderson), and it was pictured that that's what he would have done.
Plus it makes the Reapers go byebye. :)

Well, synthesis isn't even an option for me. Words can not describe how much I loathe that option. As far as I am concerned, it does not exist in my game.

And then control...is just not explained enough.

So might as well just blow up everything. Its about as rejective to the kid as I can be.

Shepard has spent his or her time speaking out against the reapers. For every single one of my Shepards I don't see another option. Contro, Shepard has seen how control has affected other beings, Saren, Benezia, TIM, Etc. It is not an option. It's an illusion.( I believed this even befor Indoctrination theory) As for Sytnthesis, sure shepard has influenced people even killed them but never has it been without some influence. All my Sheps are big fans of free will. This takes that option away.
