I lost it right there. That's how you write the end of a story arc.

The way Legion says that always gives me shivers. Took me another playthrough to realize he called himself 'I' rather than 'we.'

God damn, get these onions out of here.

The sentence is in fact loaded with exposition, if you think about it.

"I", no longer refers to itself as "we".
"I know" the Geth no longer doubt. They are alive. They have a soul.
"Tali", no longer refers to Tali as "Creator Zorah"
"Keelah Se'lai" thinks highly enough of Tali and the Quarians to use their blessing as it's final words.

Yep. As I said, took me two playthroughs to realize just how well written that whole scene was. What happened at the ending? Did the writers all get really high and thought it would be funny for Jason from Heavy Rain to control the Reapers?

Basically 95% of ME3 was the collaborative effort of the writing team.
The last 5% was Mac Walters and Casey Hudson planning the rest by themselves.

Did that 5% include Kai Leng's goofy self, the Cerberus plot, the entire Earth sequence in the intro and ending, and the Mars mission that crippled the choice we made in Virmire?

If it does, then everything makes so much more sense now.

Soul, yes. The minute he put on Shep's N7 armor and called you Shepard-Commander?! Maybe this is an odd reaction but I seriously just wanted to give him hugs.

Also, the "my name is Legion, for we are many" reference comes full circle with Legion integrating into all the geth and everything... gave me goosebumps, through all the tears of course.

I dunno, apparently men and women can make souls through conception... so if they can make biological souls, why not synthetic...

I actually loved that question when it was asked (even though I am not a religious person myself); it could have also been phrased "is this one alive?"... I am guessing it was used in a more poetic sense, than a literal "Does this unit have some form of quantifiable consciousness disconnected from the physical unit that this ones processes currently run on." (which is the same question philosophers through the years have been asking about humans.. is the soul/consciousness a seperate to the physical body, i.e something metaphysical; or is what we call the soul/consciousness tied to and a directly a result of the bio-mechanical processes in our bodies... something called the P-Zombie thought experiment... actually something Daniel Dennet touches on with the Chinese room thought experiment...)

Also, The Angry One (whom has become perhaps my favorite poster on all of BSN, thank you an <3); I actually loved the addition of Keelah Sa'lai; as Tali does at some point in the game tell you what it means... By the homeworld I hope to see one day. There was something about that phrase that struck me deep... I actually burst into tears during this scene (chose to reunite the geth and the quarians, despite my renegade sheps disposition to everything else); it seemed to me to show a deep understanding between the two characters, they both longed for peace for their people... and the sacrifices that would need to be made to do it.

I also agree the rannoch arc was very well written. I think it was better than the mordin arc for me. On one hand, mordin was trying to right the wrong of his people done unto another race. But legion was wronged so much by the quarians but still wanted to help them regardless of past bad blood. Then to add on that "do I have a soul" part was just great. These things make you really wonder what in the heck happened on thessia and earth.

Yes.

I may have helped the geth but it doesn't change the fact that they're machines. The notion that AI could ever have a soul is ridiculous.

Why is that? The human brain is just a chemical super computer so why cant other computers have souls?

Who knows. We can't even properly define what a soul is, let alone whether they exist, or that humans, or animals have them. Who are we to say machines can't have one? Perhaps the so called "ghost in the machine"?

I told him to go along with it. I assumed shepard would make the quarians stop their attack and he did just that. I had no idea it could all go wrong if you didnt play me2.

Your brain and all bodily systems can be fully functional while your body is in a coma. Whatever makes us individuals sure as hell isn't just in our physiology.

A coma is cased by damage to the sections of the brain that control higher function. Much the same thing happens when we hit a computer.

The thing that makes us individuals is the devlopment of our nerual pathways in the brain. In AI terms it would be the uncontrolable differences in the processor.

This is actualy a quote from a demon that possessed a poor man's body (according to the bible anyway) I always found funny that Legion would accept the name of a demon-lord-thingy =]

"I think there for I am"..Meaning I am  my thoughts...If I ever become brain dead and recover from it, I would be someone else. In truth, we make our souls by the life we live. God only give use exsistance and with it we are able to build our own souls. The legion did that, he made his own soul.

But it your brain that makes and stores your indivisuality. If you're brain dead are you alive or dead?

Since only Tali and Legion talked about it and they both believe in it, then why should Shepard intervene?

Seriously, that was not a moment to start a religious-atheist debate.

I can't really say if Legion has a soul, but I can say it definitely has soul. Have you heard it play jazz flute? Just, damn. Thing can freeform like nobody's business.
