I like timing myself each time I go back now to see how fast I can get through, getting all the stat enhancements along the way.

Best time so far: 42 minutes.  This is my fourth time going through, gonna see if I can knock it down to 40.

2nd playthrough - mage 8th lvl - with Wynne, Alistair and Leliana - completed the fade (goes quite fast when you unlock the special appearances in order) and now stuck at battling Sloth. He slaughtered us last night at his last incarnation.

I just started the fade last night.  What gives you the stat enhancements?

I wouldn't say I LOVED it, but parts of it were interesting, the shapeshifting was fine and I certainly enjoyed all the stat bonuses.

Just started this one last night. Was falling asleep at the keyboard though so didn't get very far. My party is me (Arcane Warrior lvl 12), Morrigan, Wynne and Sten. We got owned by a room full of controlled Templars earlier. Opened a door and got blasted by 5 templars at once...insta-death to my AW and the rest of the party just didn't have the firepower to go toe to toe with them.

Hopefully I can avoid that kind of humiliation in the fade.

Well I just finished the Fade and did it in 39 minutes... but I think I missed a magic essence.

I got:

STRENGTH: 3

DEXTERITY: 4

WILLPOWER: 4

MAGIC: 1

CUNNING: 4

CONSTITUTION: 3

In case you didn't find them yet, while you're going through The Fade, you may notice glowing piles of... stuff.  They are scattered throughout and each contains a different, permanent stat increase.  I can't remember exactly, but I believe you must be in mouse form to get to most of them.  Nice little perk for being a thorough explorer.

I love the Fade section. It's a very well designed level package.

It reminds me of chapter 2 of Shadows of Undrentide.

Some also require you to be in Spirit Form to snag. There is one in Weisshaupt Fortress that you can only grab in Spirit Form, for example.

I didn't really like this section too much; I missed my party.

It's only good for the 21 attribute points.

I enjoy it once I get golem form. Love letting all the melee gather around me, hitting me for 1 damage and then I quake, killing most of them. You can solo sloth on nightmare with golem form as well.

I really enjoyed the first pass through it. But now that I know the puzzle's solutin I am not sure how much fun it will be.

What puzzle? Or do you mean which order to do the areas in?

Not so much... it's basically just running back and forth between areas for 30 mins, it's the most boring part of the game imo, it would have been to nice to have it be an actual puzzle or something.

I did! I loved how you could use the stun/knockdown abilities of one form then switch quickly to others and use those abilities.

This is an amazing thread. Thank you for posting this.

I apologize to the Bioware employees who worked on the sloth demon fade miniquest for what I'm about to say.

I would like to take this opportunity to say the Fade mini-quest in the circle tower was horrible. Among the worst I've ever played in all my years.

It was boring, repetitive, and lame - it was ill-placed and it detracted and took away from the circle tower main quest/dungeon crawl.

I absolutely hated it - when I was playing through it, I thought this is the worst most agonizing side quest I've ever played in my life. For me it was excruciatingly awful. Clearly the worst part in the entire game as far as I'm concerned.

It was ridiculously easy, required no thought or skill, and was a slap in my face with a heavy sandbag wasting my time and ruining my circle tower dungeon crawl. With all the effort spent, you should have added a few more levels to the circle tower or whatever.

Mind-numbingly tedious....

QFMFT!!!  I try to get this out of the way ASAP so I can enjoy the rest of the game.

Finished it the other day on my rogue.

All I can say is that a cunning-specced rogue with access to fireballs, crushing prison, momentum, and master stealth is recipe for carnage on an epic scale. Good times were had.

I really hate (!) that part. Wish I could skip it. I usually turn the difficulty down to easy and try to run through as fast as possible. It would be more bearable if you didn't have to go back to the areas you already have visited, just to open the massive doors. I would prefer a more "linear" run. As it is now it is boring, boring, boring. It actually is the most (and only, really) tedious part of the game. (well, except for the long loading times in Orz)

I really enjoyed it. DA is a long game and the solo character with (useful) shapeshifting made a nice change from the many hours of otherwise similar (but fun) combat, in my view.

It was fun starting with the golem then rapidly switching to burning man after exhausting all golem specials. None of the bosses (save pride) lasted too long. Pride was cakewalk, this was on normal difficulty. Now, if only the shapeshifting skill was like that...
