I found it a lot of fun and a nice change of pace. The shapeshifting can feel a tad weird because it seems strange to me that a semi-lucid dreamer can just imbue you with their power. But it's kind of nice that some of the demon's other victims can help you defeat it in that matter.

The companion nightmares were a bit of a letdown though, especially Dog who doesn't HAVE a nightmare.

I really enjoyed it on my first play through. I liked playing around with the other forms and exploring the whole thing was interesting. Not sure why people hate it so much because it didn't sit that way with me. If anything it was a nice change of pace. But I didn't come into the game with any specific expectations so I just took whatever came along and enjoyed it.

Well I loved the fade. Getting those special abilities and then killing stuff without taking any damage on those bosses on nightmare mode made it seem cool. Lots of cc abilities if you switch forms after casting 1 or 2 abilities.

Cipher I tallied it one run through and know you missed 1 will, 1 cunning,1 magic and 1 dex i apparently missed one of the con all 3 times through though.

I also really enjoy the fade.

There are 21, I missed 1 cunning and 1 magic.  The magic one was in Mage Asunder and I forgot to go Spirit Form to snag it.  I forget which cunning essence I missed.

I despised the the fade section of circle tower.

1. The trippey effect is cool for like 10 mins then just silly reminds me of being drunk in an mmo.

2. It is incredibly boring and repetitive the only reason to go here is the stat increases and if you could skip those and finish the game I would.

3. waaaay to much running to and fro.

4.The shape shifting forms should have been given to the mage spec honestly it is what the shape shifter spec should have been like. Again it is a cool mechanic the first couple of times but none of them run fast and you have to recast all your stances when shifting mack to your true form thats really annoying.

I like timing myself each time I go back now to see how fast I can get through, getting all the stat enhancements along the way.

Best time so far: 42 minutes.  This is my fourth time going through, gonna see if I can knock it down to 40.

i loved it.
it is so different and fun.
it felt like alice and wonderland + dragon age origins

It annoyed me at first, but the next day I found it to be quite enjoyable. I miss the burning man form.

For some reason if I turn on AA through the game settings my game always looks like I'm in the Fade, so I didn't know there was any sort of effect going on until I disabled AA ingame and forced through my ATI CCC.  Kind of funny.

I'll admit, if it didn't have the stat increases I would like it far less.

3. waaaay to much running to and fro.

During my first playthrough I felt this way.  It took me about two, two and a half hours and it's a lot of back tracking.  Now that I know where to go it's MUCH shorter and far more enjoyable.

Agreed.  Also the Burning Man should have "Haste" on at all times.  Cmon, he's on fire!

I wasn't a fan the first time, but once I knew where to get the forms it was actually pretty cool. And I love the perm stat bonuses - it's worth it for that.

I really liked it, but I've only played through it once, so we'll see if I get tired of it or not on the next playthrough.

Bioware needs to patch the game so you have the option to skip that entire quest seriously playing through that lame quest is taking years off peoples life like that machine in Princess Bride it's reducing lifespans by years from the sheer torture of the experience...

I have this love-hate relationship with the Fade. I love it because of all the buffs you run into, and I hate it because it can be so time-consuming and FREAKY! The first time I went through it took me two days, and when I got out I wanted to find the programmers and thank them for creating such an unconventional and damn creepy level/quest. I'd say that the nightmares could have been longer, but the Fade took so long anyway...

I consider the Fade the best part of the game and even though I hate playing as a mage( I prefer rogue) I also love the mage origin story the best. Found myself sometimes wishing the story had revolved more around the Fade that the Archdemon.

Good 1st time around. Love the concept. If you know what to do, it isn't that long anymore. I went to Mage's circle right after Lothering and breezed through it.

Loved it personally. I had so much fun pummeling things as the golem. :)

Hahaha, I love golem pummeling too, especially if your constitution sucks. And there's something just so satisfying about slamming darkspawn into the ground.

I think they could have spiced things up a bit more if there had been more strange things happening or strange things to see. Most of the Fade just looks too "normal". It may be pattered after what demons find in the minds of mortals, but everyone has dreamed something really freaky or trippy at some point and I think demons would enjoy recreating that.

To get all the stat bonuses you need to revisit some areas once you have acquired the arcane horror form. There are some spirit doors that lead to stat bonuses and some bonus items that are immaterial.

Yes, this.

The Sloth Demon's Fade trap is my favorite part of the game.  And I like the mage origin the best because of the Fade as well.  Too bad we can't go into it far more than we do.

Extremly cool concept. Probably like that part of the game most so far.

Had fun both on my Mage and my Rogue. On my Rogue even moreso, as he didn't normally have such abilities... plus quick form-switching allowed for a spam of lots of active skills!

I totally hate it. For me it's the most tedious and "unfun" part of the game. It almost broke the otherwise awesome game for me.

Yeah, I actually liked that part of the game the least. the whole unlocking forms and then switching between them was way too gimmicky and unrewarding. Which is a shame, because I really loved going into The Fade, both in the mage origin, and when rescuing Connor, and I like The Fade as an idea and think it has a lot of potential (like, I'm sure in the last DA game the final boss will be in The Black City.) Also, I feel the little fantasies of your trapped party members could have been done in a more elaborate manner, but I understand that the game was probably a lot of work anyway and the designers probably didn't feel like mapping out little environments and hallucinatory back-stories for each character.

find it fun at first time, but too long. The second time and after im just bored. You do all the map, then you do them again for bosses and bonus. Waste of time.
