I love it as well, I think its a very interesting and unique touch to the game. Being a mage is too awesome... My favorite thing was turning into a golem, it was so easy to take down my opponents as that.
Anyone else LOVE the Fade section of the Circle Tower?

I didn't like the mouse form, but everything else was pretty cool. Mouse form just seemed useless, slow, and a waste of time. First time, it took me a while to get through it, since I didn't really understand how to get past the fire in Templar's Nightmare. Then, I went to the other places and did it in an easy order, so it was all good.

i find it a little tedious with all the backtracking i had to do first time through, but i love those stat bumps!!

I found it the most boring part of the game. I mean, it's something different, and the first time I was like "woooooo". Then on the second run, I completed it in half the time I needed for the first one, finding twice as many stat increasing things. The third time, I didn't even have any problem, since I knew when the right transformation was required. The fourth time, I completed it in about half or 1 hour. I found out that the spirit form is even the strongest one in melee battle, and can kill any boss without them touching you.
Will see how I will fair the fifth time, since I will be doing it right after Lothering (or rather, right after I get Shale).

I love the Fade. I've been through as Mage, Rogue and Warrior ...I love the trippy feel of it, and just the whole concept of being trapped in your own conciousness...

I think my problem with the Fade is that I feel sort of edgy when I'm next to those insta-kill fires. If you could simply run through them and take like a fireball's worth of damage, then that should be another option.

You're the first person I've seen mention the Fade part as enjoyable; I'm impressed you can speed-run it too! Personally, I don't enjoy it that much but like a lot of posters here, I enjoy the stat increases... would you ever be willing to write up a speedrun/time attack guide, or post a video?

I am a pretty new player and I've only played as a mage so far, so I'm curious, about how this section works if you're NOT a mage. Isn't it supposedly only mages who can operate in the Fade consciously? Does it essentially work the same for other characters? I was going to try to finish the game as a mage before trying out other characters, but maybe I'm too curious to wait...

Aside from the free attribute points you get, this is the worst part of the game for me. I hated it all three times.

I honestly don't get all the hate this section of the game has received on this forum. I LOVE playing as a golemn and the burning man. To those that complain about the length, do things in this order and you can finish the whole thing in under 40 minutes. 1. got to burning tower get burning man without stopping for ANYTHING 2. go to mage asunder and get golemn without stopping for anything 3. go to darkspawn invasion, get spirit form, go ahead and get all the stat boosts since you now have all 3 powers 4. go back to mage asunder do the same 5. go back burning tower do the same 6. go back to the 1st place do the same 7. get your party 8. beat boss.
If you know the routes you can complete the section in no time. And again, playing as a golemn friggen owns. Playing as Shale isn't half as fun, stinking midget.

I'll say it again. I loved the fade, and look forward to playing through it with a non-mage character.
And reading this thread, I can't believe I forgot to go back to that Spirit Door in Weisshaupt.

It's not the length of time I hate, it's the level period. On my 2nd play through, I blew through the stage. I dislike the look, I find the backtracking annoying, and just generally hate that part of the story.
Playing as the burning man was nice the 1st time around, but then the novelty wore off. As for playing as a golem, I have shale for that

I'm not overly fond of the Fade sequence. First time, I found it interesting, but when you know how to get through it, it becomes a little dull. I'd like it better if I could have my companions with me, after freeing them from their dreams (not just for the demon fight).

Personally, on the first run i really enjoyed myself. On the 2nd run i didnt find it fun anymore, since i knew how it works already, and on the third run.... well i am in circle tower rightnow and cant get myself to finish it...
One of the problems is the constant loading that is needed. If that went a lot faster or could be undone, it would be great.
And maybe better accesable Waypoints.

I loved it and thought it was one of the most creative sections of the game. I hope that subsequent expansions explore the Fade further.
What's not to like? Walk into a room, kill the monsters, go to the next room, kill the monsters, reach the boss and kill it. Attribute bonuses (yum!) instead of items. Cool unique powers that you get regardless of your character type.
I suspect the issue people have is that it is essentially a large puzzle level. Puzzles have basically no replay value - it is a challenge for the player the first time only. A small puzzle is a small boring bit on subsequent replays. An entire puzzle level can mean a lot of boring.
Some people like puzzles in games, others don't. Don't get your peanut butter on my chocolate.

i loved the fade section personally. i thought it was awsome. it didnt feel to gimicky to me. it was like a whole new game just got opened up. but as you can see opinions vary on this part.
i loved it because it was a little slice of diffrent, yea you had to go back to some areas but its not like each area was a dungeon crawl, theyre just a few rooms guys lol.
whats the big deal about going back to an area to open an oversized door when its like..across the hallway lol. you dont have to fight through hell to get there.
i actually liked that about it, it was very clever.

i hope they make more sections like this actually. but on the other hand i like the whole game, including orzamar the dwarven quest line which some people say is tedious for some reason, i cant tell. it was very fun to me. but again, to each their own.
if a developer runs across this thread however let it be known if such a DLC were to come out with a longer fade quest line or something like it, you have my money.

I didn't like it my first playthrough because I was a badly geared dual-wielding warrior, so any of the rooms with mages melted my face off. That was really where I came to rely on quick saving before opening any door.
Going through as a rogue, though, with Combat Stealth, it was a lot less terrible, since I could toss bombs at things til they died. Then, going through as a mage, was somewhere between the two (I was spec'd as spirit healer/creation, so Paralysis Explosion was about my only real crowd control).
Out of the entire Fade sequence though, my favorite part was being a mouse. It was just so adorable, and it squeaked sometimes. I wish it had been more involved other than shrinking to fit through mouse holes.

This and the Dead Trenches were my favorite areas in the game. I know some people complain The Fade part is a chore, especially on subsequent playthroughs but I found it a nice change of pace and appreciated the stat boosting, naturally...

Fade reminded me of the alien maps in Half-life and that's a great thing.

The Golem form certainly makes it worthwhile.

I equate it to the intro area of BGII; interesting to play the time, but once going through the Fade in repeated play-throughs it becomes nothing but a chore... and I will be very happy once somebody makes a mod to skip that entire section.

For awhile I thought you COULD skip the entire section and just do without the littany, until I realized you have to go through that room to get to the next set of stairs... If it were spookier I wouldn't mind the repetition.
