What color is considered "dark-skinned" for Asari? What colour do they get when they get a tan?

Given their skin color, it is quite clear that Asari do not have melanin. Perhaps some alternative, but they most likely do not, "Tan." In terms of dark skinned, they run the gamut of blues. So a dark skinned asari would be around purple with a very 'pale' asair being closer to baby blue.

Thanks for the reply, maybe I should have clarified:

The radiation of the sun should affect their skin colour, they might not tan in the same way as we do, but surely it should affect the colour of their skin?

But do Asari and Humans percieve color the same way?

Given that asari have eyes nearly identical to a human's, yes they most likely do.

Additionally, if they do have melanin in their skin, there's no telling what the exact reaction to solar radiation is. It could very well be that the various spots asari get on their head tentacles could very well be it.

Honestly, I think due to the fact that they have stages of life, they're considered children until they reach Matron.

Maidens are the rebellious teens
Matrons are the mothers
Matriarchs are the wizened elders.

Though the boundaries are fuzzy in that Maidens can have children, they just usually don't want to... and I could certainly see Liara entering Matriarch stage way early, given her rather intense life experiences over the ME series.

Why is the Asari's system called Athena?

So I think this is because they named the system after their goddess, Athena, who was actually just a Prothean...as you find out on Thessia.

The Asari's goddess name was Athame, not Athena...close enough I guess.<_<

I believe it's said somewhere in ME3 that Athena was one of the first priestesses of Athame, or one of her disciplies or something. Might be remembering it wrong, though.

Sound like the Asari are trying to say "Are goddess is better then your goddess." or it could be what you said.

Fortunately, with the joining process, that's a nice workaround for that problem..

This thread hilariously justifies the Mass Effect 1 Codex entry on the Asari. Seriously, every 2-5 posts is a question about Asari reproduction/reproductive anatomy.

Most important Asari question of all time...Why is Liara the only one with eyebrows?

oh and

Do you think Shepard is still on a promise with Shiala?

She probably has it tattoed that way, to fit in better with humans... or she might just like the way it looks.

Ok i'm no scientist so i will say what my question in random 'morontalk'.
If Asari live 1000 years it must mean their bodies regenerate way better and longer than other shorterlived species. Did they actually never think about looking into that process to give other races a longer lifespan?

I would ask why the other races' lifespan is so short! We will certainly have an indefinite lifespan well before the time of the ME universe... and if lowly humans could do it, then other technologically advanced species probably could too.

WHY DO ASARI HAVE BREASTS?!?!?

Im surprised no body ever mentions it - they're not technically "women", they are mono gendered.

Yes and no. These are monogendered because they have both male and female systems while Asari have only one system.

Asari take no DNA from the father which form an evolutinary stand points makes needing the father at all a reporductive hindrance.

Because they all can bear children... if anything they're both female AND male at the same time... though not in the conventional manner.

But they are mammals, so what do mammals do with their babies in order to feed them? Hint: They don't fly away to catch some insects which the store in their throat until they return to the baby ;)

Why the hell I'm supposed to feel bad for them about Thessia after every other species has also lost its homeworld. They got exactly what they deserved for standing on the sidelines for so long.

In regards to sexual maturity, Samara tells Shepard that Morinth fled from home at the age of 40 after having been subjected to a life of imprisonment given her disorder, and Samara also tells Shepard that the genetic defect is fully manifested when an asari reaches sexual maturity, so it is logical to assume that asari reach sexual maturity around age 40.

I think.

As the oldest and most advanced spacefaring race, as well as the mediator between the other races (least impulsive), they were probably considered something like untouchable. Besides that it is not just the loss of Thessia, but the loss of the knowledge about the Catalyst. At that point all seemed lost (until Traynor saved the day).

Asari need the DNA (or more speficly, "model of DNA") from father to prevent cloning. They use the said sample to mix their own genes in certain ways, which I can't say how it works since I am not scientist, but main goal is to indroduce new genetic material and make sure that resulting baby is not a clone of mother.

Why would they have genitals meant for intercourse if that's not how they actually mate? Those bits would either have never evolved in the first place OR become vestigial and ceased to function at some point. Also if the asari live to be 1000, that means that there have only been 50 generations since the last Reaper invasion.
It also means that they've only been spacefaring for 2-3 generations max.
Also, if they are fertile for hundreds of years wouldn't they have the same sort of dangerous exponential greowth as the Krogan? Illium has 677 million people and it would have only been settled in the last 2-3 asari generations. I'd be as worried about them as the Krogan.

Why does everyone think the boobies on Asari function the same way a human's does? They could be fatty mounds of nutrients like a camel's hump or pockets to store notes. Nowhere is it mentioned that they breastfeed or require mammary glands, so why assume so?

If it was another Asari or a life form native to their world this would make sense. Asari DNA and that of ailen life are very different however. Even though our DNA might be made of the same stuff our bodies would read it totaly different. Junk DNA would be in different places and different ammounts, while they could also have bits of DNA that have no comparison in the DNA of another race or the other way around.  Whose to say Asari DNA is even a double heliex like ours?
