Why would they have genitals meant for intercourse if that's not how they actually mate? Those bits would either have never evolved in the first place OR become vestigial and ceased to function at some point. Also if the asari live to be 1000, that means that there have only been 50 generations since the last Reaper invasion.
It also means that they've only been spacefaring for 2-3 generations max.
Also, if they are fertile for hundreds of years wouldn't they have the same sort of dangerous exponential greowth as the Krogan? Illium has 677 million people and it would have only been settled in the last 2-3 asari generations. I'd be as worried about them as the Krogan.

They reproduce at a speed much closer to our own I assume but each individual is able to reproduce much longer then a human. Illium is also not the best pick to judge most colonies on as in our short time their we see a huge number of human, turians, volus, and salerians. This is most likely due do Illium not being an offical Asari colony.

If any race other then the Krogan need to be worried about its the Salerians because as a egg laying race that grows to adulthood fast they could out breed almost every other race even the Krogan if they change the temperature a little to make more eggs female.

Are the asari stupid? I mean do they develop slowly mentally? Liara is only 100 and she's not dumb. If you had 1000 years to develop intellectually wouldn't your culture be so dominant and overwhelming over the other species that you would look at them as animals? Wouldn't a 500 year old asari dating a 30 year old human essentially be dating a child at best and a dog at worst? What could a 30 year old human possibly offer a 500 year old asari?

The biggest question I have regarding the Asari is, did they have males before the Protheans started playing with their genetics. If their reproduction involves biotics, this would actually make sense since the Protheans are the ones who gave them biotic abilities. If they already had their current method of reproduction before the Protheans tampered with their genes, how does it work without biotics, and what evolutionary pressure caused them to develop in this fashion.

asari biology are the equivalent of being force sensitive in star wars imo

People don't really get smarter with age.  I mean, there are advantages with experience, and breadth of general knowledge.  But the truly brilliant breakthroughs tend to come relatively early in life with a fresh perspective.

I doubt they get smarter as they grow only 'wiser', but that said the Asari clearly do see themselves as being better then the other races over all. Laria says her self that she thought that humans short lives was a weakness but realized it is in fact a driving force for advancement her people lack.

To use your example a 500 year old Asari could use a 30 year old human to gain perspective she would otherwise be blind to.

Are Asari particularly resistant to diseases and zero atmosphere conditions?
Look at Liara's facemask for example while mostly everyone wears full, self contained gear.

it's clear though asari don't degenerate as humans do in old age, either physically or mentally.

they seem to mature and get even more powerful, like samara is about 1000 but doesn't show any physical or biotic limitations.

Yes but maturity and wisdom are real issues with partners. If a 70 year old starts dating a 20 year old, most people are somewhat put off by it and not just because of physical maturity. Whatever perspective the 20 year can offer the 70 year old, it pales in comparison to the fact that the 70 year has lapped the 20 year old in the ways of the wolrd. It is creepy because it is like a child/parent relationship jammed into a romantic relationship as well.

It was a choice based on the fact they did not want to cover her face, we first saw this brand of magic in ME2 when most squadmates only needed a facemask.

Just say that a mass effect field or kinetic barriers prevents explosive decompression which would occur when the liquids in their bodies transform into gas.

I've always wondered whether Asari find non humanoid non intelligent creatures, aka animals, sexually attractive and whether or not they'd be able to produce children with them.

^ this

Though I think a certain level of sentience is needed for bonding (though it's not specifically stated).
But I guess rule 34 applies to every species...

If they were human that would be true but they are not. The way they think and social norms are very different. The games seem to make a point that Asari mating is also about learning and growing and this is why they seek out interesting partners no matter the race or age.

How would their bodies know if the other creature is sentient? Wouldn't the only thing that matters be the amount of DNA that can be randomized? Humans and Chimps have the same (or nearly the same) amount of DNA. What if they mate with a human with diminished capacity? How would their bodies know?

You got to love the Asari for being sexually emancipated far beyond anything a so called modern human society claims to be :)

Except that they murder or imprison ardakt yashi. We don't really do that to people with STDs.

Depends. If humans would have a genetic disease - undetectable until it is too late - that brings them to kill people like praying mantiss females kill their partners... I don't know, if we wouldn't lock them away either...

We do have something like the ardak yaskshi. 1 in 20 people are clinical sociopaths. These people are the most likely to be serial muderers, sexual predators, frauds, and professional criminals. You could probably even develop tests from an early age to detect sociopathic personalities. Also you have the XYY "supermale" with an extra chromosomes. These folks are unusually agressive and low intelligence and are disproportionately represented in prisons. Also, you have HIV infected people who are not prevented from continuing their sexual activities. These are all actual real comparisons to real life. However, At least in my country there are laws that say that the capacity to kill or injure is not sufficient to deny life, liberty, and property. One must actually commit the crime before they can be punished.

They wouldn't. This demands a study into the sexual perversities of the Asari race. Are they as deviant as that of the humans? or WORSE!?

I mean, if Liara has a Hanar half-sister... her "dad" was that one's mother who had a sexual experience with a big, stupid jellyfish. When this doesn't cause shock and outrage among the bystanders, imagine what would

Why is the Asari's system called Athena?

So I think this is because they named the system after their goddess, Athena, who was actually just a Prothean...as you find out on Thessia.

The Asari's goddess name was Athame, not Athena...close enough I guess.<_<

I believe it's said somewhere in ME3 that Athena was one of the first priestesses of Athame, or one of her disciplies or something. Might be remembering it wrong, though.

Athena is also a prominent member of the Ancient Greek Pantheon of Olympian Gods. So maybe the Protheans influenced both human and asari religion/culture very early on and included the same names/deities. Not sure how I feel about that.

I figured it is just the human name for their system. It's filled with wise advanced women therefore the humans named it the Athena system. It's certainly different in the Asari language (a language we never actually hear). It's sort of like how someone might say gypsy whereas the gypsies call themselves the Roma OR how Great Britain calls the Falklands the Falklands and the Argentines call them the Malvinas. I doubt it has anything  to do with the Protheans or directed evolution.

The diversity of Asari romantic attraction to me suggests they're primarily attracted to personality, rather than physical appearance.

Though Aethyta did appreciate Benezia's "great rack", so...
