-I want to know what Morrigan, OGB, and my mage warden were up to
-I wouldn't mind seeing Sten, Alistar, Shale, Leileana (her voice is very sexy), and Sigrun.
-I also really want to see Rhys, Evangeline, Adrian and Cole. They were awesome characters.

The Origins story is over and I don't really care about the DA2 events. So I'm hoping for a new game that won't just ride the coattails of Origins

If the mechanics are worked out half well the jousting might be fun but I doubt we'll get on a horse in a Dragon Age game anytime soon. But melees? We should enter a few melees. It's Orlais... full of bored nobles why not enter a few tourneys to make gold and a reputation?

The only one I'm really set on seeing as a party member again is Leliana. I'd like to see the boy from Redcliff all grown up as a member of your party. A new Black Fox. Maybe those last two could be the same character.Sigrun or Velanna maybe, that I mention later... Beyond that:
I want to see my Wardens for sure, but not at the same point no matter who they were.
I want to see my Dalish Warden with the Dalish elves, my city elf leading a major military faction or on the Denerim council, where she was for a while, maybe even in a revisit to the keep during the events of DA:A, or in an unexpected adventure. I want to see my mage with Morrigan and her god baby, and Morrigan to have a major role regardless. I want my human noble as the king of Ferelden (hopefully the Ferelden monarch, whether the Warden, Alistair, ..can't remember her name right now, the queen..., or whatever two out of three will have a major role in DA3). My dwarf noble is dead, but other dwarf noble wardens could replace whoever as the representative of Orzammar at some point in the game, and really, mine had a son, so I'd like to see that son. My dwarf commoner isn't finished yet, but I imagine she could pop up as part at any given point depending on your end game state, like the rest. Basically a significant cameo with some kind of larger import to the events of the game, that lets me see what my Warden's doing. I don't want a "rides off into the sunset" ending to stand as the last we see of them. I always hate those.
Basically slide the Warden in wherever your game state says he or she should be, during the course of DA3's main plot quests, in a significant way, and let us choose his or her voice from a few options each between male and female options, or auto-choose it based on their race, gender, and origin, either way.
I want to see Hawke, with his or her love interest at some point in the game, most likely involved with Flemeth since DA2 pushes so hard in that direction, but he or she is otherwise less involved with the wider world, unless we see him or her during their time in Kirkwall for a little scene. I'd perhaps like to see a clash between Morrigan, her child, and potentially the Warden vs. Hawke and Flemeth, perhaps, and the player determines who survives.
I want to see Morrigan, again, the monarch of Ferelden, again, whoever that happens to be, I'd like to see Velanna, potentially Anders/Vengeance if he survived your DA2, I want to see Sigrun somewhere definitely, Merrill for sure, potentially in conjunction with Morrigan, Isabella somewhere again, Sebastian in his city state king role, maybe Shale, maybe Zevran, maybe Sten. I want to potentially see the "Rose of Orlais" if we get into the power play between Denerim and Redcliff at any point. Maybe Cullen if he turned out a serial killer in your DA:O save, like he's supposed to be in some of mine, but definitely not as a party member.. Cassandra probably, though I'm not in love with her character. Save the mage kids from both games for a game centered on Tevinter. Maybe see all the potential Wardens that are still Wardens from both games in a single scene/mission. The travelling salesdwarves are of course going to be back.
So all together, ? signalling I see them in a few potential roles, the list is:
Party:
Leliana
Redcliff kid grown up
a Black Fox (maybe the Warden, potentially? fits for some Wardens; prefer this to potentially be the player anyway)
Sigrun ?
Velanna ?
Main Plot significant appearance:
Warden (all)
Morrigan
Morrigan's Godchild
Merrill ?
Hawke
Flemith
Denerim monarch: may be Warden, Alistair, etc.
Redcliff Arl/Arlessa
Sebastian
an All-Warden team: Includes potentially Nathaniel, Bethany, Oghren, Sigrun ?, Velanna ?, etc.
Potential Cameos:
Warden's son
Sigrun ?
Merrill ?
Cassandra
Velanna ?
Isabella
travelling salesdwarves
Anders/Vengeance
Shale
Sten
Zevran
killer Cullen
And that's my full list. I like it like that. :-) If a character's not mentioned, it's because I really like these better for the kind of game and the setting I'm expecting from DA3, and there's only so many spots or you get out of hand. I love Varric, for instance, but I think he'd have to be kind of shoehorned in to show up. The other more minor ones tend to be roaming around at this point. So take the Party list and the Main Plot list and then fill out whatever available cameo space with a combination from the Cameo list, a few of which should definitely be there in some small way, like Cassandra. I listed the Cameos from, personally, most important to least important to include in their own dedicated scene.

Hawke I think needs to die. Yes, I think that's necessary. It's the only fate I can see for Hawke without it being necessary for her to keep showing up everywhere. It would be far too difficult for me to expound her motivations, but in all likelihood, she will pursue being at the forefront of this war. Consequently, she needs to die.
Sten can never be seen again. He must have died in battle and there be no record of it, because he is just another Sten. That is what he would want.
Fenris... I think it would be sad to discover Fenris has become embroiled in this war. He needs to find a quiet and peaceful place to live out his days, with battle no longer a part of his life. For that reason, he also must never be encountered again.
Merrill...might have to be killed by Hawke. Hawke initially found her charming and attractive, but after she had to kill the Keeper and the Mahariel Clan, she is slowly growing to hate her. With Merrill's clan dead and the pursuit of her last ten years of her life failed, she probably needs to die anyway. I think she should be recorded as having died in battle by Hawke's side, but in truth Hawke actually killed her before she herself died.
And that is the list of the characters I care about. Alistair, Morrigan, Oghren, Wynne, Leliana, Zevran, the Warden never cared about any of them; Leliana's presence gave him hope that someone whose life had been destroyed could still live, but that was proved to be ultimately untrue as far as he concerned, and, emotionless, he never truly cared for her anyway, just what she represented. While the Dragon Age II characters were generally more likable, both for me and for Hawke, they aren't likable enough for a return. The former three are the only ones that are, and their appropriate fate means that they won't.

2) Cullen. Just to pander to his fangirls. Besides I would like to have an actual member of the Templar order and more orthodox follower o Andraste in my party..
Nobody else from the core games as a returning party member.

Flemeth and Morrigan =)
Leliana makes sense to be seen in DA3, given her role in DA2 i guess.
I sure will miss Aveline, Varric, Isabela and Hawke. If the writers can find a way to include them without it being blatant fan service then that would be great. =)

1) A tevinter magister. Don't make him into a cartoon villain but a real character. Perhaps play up the fact that he comes from a culture which has been waging an exhausting war against the Qunari and so is prepared to do whatever for victory.

Yes because killing the main characters of the game is a great idea! thats why the forum is full of "bring the warden back".. am I right? <_<
If bioware writers kills hawke because "boo boo it keep showing up everywere" maybe is because of how poor they started and finished that story... well to me they didn't finished so..
Any way 99% of the character that TO YOU needs to die are well liked it, one of them is Merril.. so getting the kill merril is going to be harder than killing Sebastian, yes thats how popular she is.

Lily: She was betrayed by her blood mage boyfriend and shipped off to a templar run prison full of criminal mages. With the war looming it is not so unthinkable that the mages could liberate the prison (Aonar or something like that?) With everything she's been through she could make for an extremely compelling character.
Velanna: Her search for her sister seems like the best way to continue the talking Darkspawn storyline. I imagine her as a temporary party member minimum. Full party member might be nice too as being pulled into a human conflict when she hates humans so much might actually be interesting.
Silas Corthwaite: Because his name is Silas Corthwaite. No other reason.
Bethany/Carver: To make up for them being cut out of half of DA2 and losing their chance to shine in an expansion. There is also great potential for their storylines no matter which ending you got for them in DA2.
Charade: She seemed like a really cool woman and getting cut out after one quest didn't do her any justice.
That girl Hawke saved in The Magistrate's Son: As a warrior fighting for the rights of city elves. We really need someone to fulfill that role in a notable way and she seems like she could work.

What I'd like to see is some cameo's from 'other' characters that aren't Orlesian (French), Ferelden (American, English). The John Cleese cameo was magnificent in Jade Empire. Why no 'Chinese, Spanish, German, Dutch, African, Scandinavian influence for the hell of it?
From DA:O, I'd like to see Shale again. She is such an amazing character and it would rock (see what I did there?) to take her to talk to a French princess. The dialogue could be hilarious.
I'm also wondering what happened to Sten. He was also a good fleshed-out character.

Sten is my favourite character so far, but he needs to die. That is what he would want, and what he deserves.
Equally, death is Hawke's fate, as far as I'm concerned. You could say its bad writing that this forces the death of Hawke, I'm not really judging, I'm just observing the ending of Dragon Age II and judging that Hawke's death is necessary for the story to continue.
I doubt BioWare care if they kill well-liked characters, nor should any creator. All the more impactful if they kill someone who the players care about. I don't know much about Sebastian because I refuse to make use of the in-box DLC.
Look, I don't mind if Merrill, Sten and Hawke don't die. I just think they should.

Also, my opinion is they should expand the story line more than what they plan on, if there is a DAIII.
DAO seemed so short you had to add a few mods to expand the length of the game in order to enjoy it more. DA2, about the same, too short.
Expand the game base without the mods.

I'm not expecting the main conflict of the next game to be the templar/mage war, and I hope that's just the beginning, but I thought about seeing her as well. I couldn't remember her name, but I like that idea, not necessarily the mages liberating part. Any mage incarcerated there is likely lobotomized anyway, right? And then they'd be moved on. But I could see the prison getting visited, especially if Morrigan and the Warden are known to be active, and Lily being brought out to potentially tie into that situation, if the Warden is a mage, of course. If Javon is still himself, he could also play into that scenario (fairly unlikely with how difficult it was to convince the Redcliff arl, but possible of course through other decision paths, and if that check was made).
