a) Allow to raise EMS even higher, much more higher than possible ATM. Which will push "readiness assessment" from "chances are even" to "we are most likely to win" range.
This higher EMS will allow for different "even better" outcome.Note that neither better outcome nor even "we are most likely to win" assesment is not present in current game, so most likely will be modded as part of one of final DLCs when required bigger EMS acquisition becomes possible.
This "better conclusion" could then happen as usual, after assault on Chronos and then on Earth. Note how finishing the game rewinds you before of point of no return. So with new DLCs you can continue gathering assets for a while and then go into final battle again prepared much more better.
Or it will require that you do NG+.
And another much wilder guess. Closer to the end I've got a bit interesting discussion with EDI about parallel universes. Not sure Bioware intended this as a throwavay, "vague clue just in case of future franchises" or it has more meaning already.
