Can someone confirm if shapeshifting is dispellable?

I swear it is (templars in tower, and many elites/bosses, spamming dispell seem to be placing Morrigan immed. back into human form), which appears to make this the most useless line there is, since, as mentioned in other threads, it also:

-is slow to cast
-timer refresh is ridiculous
-damage output is not so great
-the increase in protection (for Morrigan) is not that great, except for maybe advanced swarm, which has to watch out for fire etc.
-it cannot compare - in fact, no spell, can compare to cone of cold, which has an extremely fast timer, freezes pretty much every thing there is in the game, no other stun/par. spell works on bosses and dragons, etc. etc. In fact, I don't care if a companion is also frozen in the melee, Wynee cancel's dispell, and the shattering continues...

With Wynee casting mana regen on Morrigan, I see no reason anyone would want to shapeshift...

or is a tactics slot doing this to me?

If the casting time was just changed to instant *or* (not both) the caster retained spell casting then Shape-shift would be good.

What's funny is that they have the code implemented to let you be cool stuff -- you get to turn into cool stuff in the fade, instead they let you turn into dumb stuff. Dumb.

Add the fact that you get Upkeep cost/Fatigue while in form and can't use ANY poultices or potions. The latter alone makes the Specialization completely worthless for those of us who like to play with one mage.

Even the Dog, for whatever reason, can use health poultices. I'd suggest making shapeshifting instant, undispellable, and allow the usage of poultices.

I've been trying to fit this specialization in with a party. I guess if your other characters are strong enough where you don't need constant healing or support magic in combat then there could be a place for the shapeshift.

*One thing about the cast time. You can stay in the form so you don't have to cast during battle. I guess during boss fights you can use stuns and knock down abilities to hold the line until the spell is cast. With three melee you can have a good number of stuns.

*Question- does the spider poison do prolonged damage. ie- you shift into spider form, poison an enemy, web an enemy, then shift back. There is a dev video with something like this.

If you enjoy roleplaying in this roleplaying game in any measure, way or form, none of those makes any sense whatsoever and doesn't help resolve the core issues with the shapeshifting specialization.

imo the individual forms just need to be fleshed out utility wise. Really they feel like slightly better pets atm.

That said, with instacast the current forms are alright. They just need more utility and some stronger benefits.

Imo they need faster cast time, and more scaling with spellpower. The forms never seem to get more powerful with more spellpower. This makes them less and less attractive as you level.

Maybe an added ability per form for every 10 or 15 spellpower, starting at 20 and capped at 60 or somesuch?

It needs a MAJOR buff. As it stands, it's worthless IMO.

The core issue of shapeshifting was the lame/lack of forms and the lack of dynamics that came with the basic shapes (OMG I can overwhelm something ^^^!!!). I didn't know that roleplaying was an issue. I also thought that Morrigan described learning how to shift into another form by studying it. As a Grey Warden you learn by killing them! Certainly this could be better but i'll stick to what's available online.

If that stops you from even using some of the forms that DO make sense...then i'm glad that i have "no sense" of roleplaying.

BTW...most of the models in the game are usable now....gonna have to find one of them that "make sense"

if im not mistaken there is already an ADDON that will reduce the casting time of all Shapeshifts. - Problem solved

As for the skills and abilities from the shapeshifting tree well. Most skills in the game are useless. there are "Crap" skills - like over kill, the single target caster buffs. Most of the archery skills. and more.  If you ask me Shapeshifting is just one of the many underdeveloped skills in the game. But fear not there are addons that will change that.

One lets you shapeshift into a Drake, Golem, and Demon.  The maker of the add on is working on balance issues between the forms.

this spec should have been what 2h weapons do for warrior.. Truly!

The forms need beef real bad! My character (don't look for the update, I am dealing with xbox live issues right now so my characters aren't up here... yet.) Isiliandr is full shapeshift spec and omg it sucks hard monkey *bleep*. I don't even use the line anymore, and when I do I HAVE to have mind blast up to counter the long channel. I agree; with how wimpy this line is, there really shouldn't have been a channel time.

What they need to do is allow you to still cast all of your spells in animal form PLUS the additional animal form moves and stats
