After reading the majority of the posts on this forum, the majority believes that the Krogan Soldier is useless on Gold but ok to play with on Silver and or Bronze. After a week or two of alot of trial and error, I'm proud to say that I've came up with the Perfect Krogan for Gold. Since no one wrote any specific guide on this Beast, I'm going to take a whack at it.

Note: In order to fully maximize the potential of the Krogan Soldier, you must have a Reset Card.

The Perfect Build

Fortification -
0 / Since I focus all my efforts on providing HEAVY SUPPORT for my Teammates, I find Fortification utterly useless. This specific ability in my opinion is only geared towards Silver and Bronze. Most or all enemies can be killed with one melee. In Gold however, you would be a fool to go out of your way to melee an opponent.

Carnage - 6 / Damage, Incapacitate , Damage

Inferno Grenades - 6 / Damage, Max Grenades, Radius & Shrapnel or Armour Damage (Whatever floats your boat. The end result still makes the Inferno Grenades in my opinion the most potent tool of destruction.)

Krogan Berserker - 6 / Damage & Capacity, Power Damage, Shotguns

Rage - 6 / Durability, Shield Recharge, Fitness Expert

Weapon of Choice

Geth Plasma Shotgun  or Grael Spike Thrower

Offensive / Defensive / Crowd Control

Basically, this is what the Krogan Soldier does. All three wrapped in one killing machine. The Perfect Krogan...

1.) First 2 waves, hit the enemy hard and fast. Run up to a group of enemies and chuck an inferno grenade their way. While they're immoblized, take a couple of semi charged/fully charged (Whatever floats the boat)  GPS shots at the shielded enemies. When their shields are off, chuck the other inferno grenade, shoot then carnage just about when they're about to croak and you'll create a chain reaction with the Fireworks (Fire Explosion).
2.) Wave 3 and onwards, stick with your mates, but don't let the enemy gather momentum. While your team is workin on one group, take on another group yourself by repeating step number 1. They're bound to gather in 2's and 3's. Thus making your Inferno's more affective. This will prevent your comrades from screwing up your fire explosions as well since they're focused on their side.
3.) Remember to constantly replenish your Inferno count.I think like afer every 10-15 seconds, the ammo box will keep giving you grenades. There will always a brief period of time inbetween the rippin and a tearin where you can beat feet to an ammo crate. You just have to be on point with it.  (I'll varify the time it takes to keep getting grenades from the ammo crate. If anyone else knows tis, please chime in.)
Remember, the Inferno's burning duration last's 8 Seconds. (So, add it up! Damage per Second is 271.88 for 8 Long... agonizing seconds. 271.88 x 8 =2,175.04 That's if you choose max damage output

4.) In a way, you're already CC'ing. You're the Heavy Hitter and don't you forget that!
5.) When a stray enemy gets to close to one of your teammates.. Remember to make sure the red reticule is highlighted around your enemy before you melee em to kingdom come! You'll never fail...
6.) When facing Geth Hunters, keep your distance and knock their shields down, then chuck an Inc. Grenade their way. I've proven many a people wrong when they say that Hunters always beat Krogans. If you go in with "the Hunter is going to **** me up" mind frame, then you're going to die. Be aggressive! Don't give em time to think!!!

 Melee/GPS Trick
I realised this one awhile back but never gave much thought on posting it until now. You can add more bang to the buch when performing a heavy melee by....
 A.) Charge your GPS
B.) Make sure the reticule is over the enemy.
C.) Perform the Heavy Melee. Right AFTER the HM connects, release your trigger so that the GPS can hit em as well. Like I said before... More Bang for the Boom.

 4 Sweet Ass Grenades
For whatever reason, Bioware decided to add one more Grenade to the count. Those of you who know that Inferno Grenades are tough ass shiet, should be laughing. Prior to the buff, I never rocked 3 Grenades. I always preached that 2 Grenades were better than 3. Now that they added another one, the Krogan Soldier just became a walking Fire Bomb. You can literally take on a whole group of enemies by yourself more often. The huge bosses would be pretty stupid to take on by yourself, but the others are fair game.

I'm trying to come up with an effective way to use these 4 Grenades. I'm doing some test runs on different maps so that way I can come with a Universal Tactic for the Krogan Soldier. What I basically do is run around, collecting Grenades and hitting the biggest group of enemies I can find. You have to pick an choose your battles wisely. When Krogans fight alone, they need to be on point with their surroundings. My new #1 Rule is, Always maintain that Grenade Count.

Well, I've hoped you enjoyed the updated guide. Appreciate your feed back Ladies/Gents!!!!!!!!!

Fortification = 0 Points. I've tested and retested, the benefit isnt worth the points that comes with taking this power. 1) you want recharge as high as possible for carnage. 2) Meleeing isn't encouraged for the soldier on gold and should be used as a last resort when enemies get to close. 3) It's biggest benefit is the 30% dmg red and 15% shield rech which is nice, but if your careful enough with your high health and shields you should do fine without it.

Carnage = 6 points!!!! Take it and love it, the Incapacitate is an awesome upgrade which can save not only your own bacon but teammates as well. Using this power in conjunction with the grenades and/or incen ammo can create fire explosions which is quite devasitating. Dmg/Incapacitate/Dmg

Incendiary Grenades = 6 points! Here is what makes this class a beastly monster of hellfire and destruction. With the genade capacity gear it is possible to get this amazing power up to a wopping 9 grenades. Toss this in a group of enemies and support it with weapon dmg and carnage spam and you can take down groups of enemies including ravagers/brutes in seconds. This is awesome CC and great DoT. I go with Radius for maximum CC, Dmg and Armor Dmg.

Krogan Berserker = 6 Points. Here I go power/weight, power, and Shotguns. As much as I would love to weapon dmg for rank 4 and 6 after extensive testing my dps is better with the added cooldown redux from my current weight/shotgun upgrades. At rank 5 the headshots upgrade is a viable option if you are good at making headshots. I am fairly good at this but on gold I focus on protecting the team more than lining up headshots so the power evolution seems more viable for me.

Rage: Health and Shields all the way. As stated before, its just not smart to focus on melee for the krogan soldier on gold. Both the Vanguard and Sentinel are better melee fighters if you absolutely love Krogan melee.

Weapons: Graal X or GPS X w Acc/Barrel Mods. Shredder Mod is obsolete as the ammo upgrade is better, Not meleeing so dont need Bayonet and you'll make frequent trips to ammo crates for grenades plus u have thermal clips so dont worry about magazine upgrade.

Equipment: Incendiary or Disruptor Ammo work nicely for fire/tech bursts. AP speaks for itself. Use Grenade Capacity Gear V for 7 Grenades, (9 if you took +2 @ rank 5), Shotgun Amp III, and Cyclonic Mod 3/Adrenaline Mod 3.

Strategy: Know your limits and when to back off. You can venture off but don't go to far. Remember that even though you can manage alone, your not invinicible and your worth is far greater when sticking with and supporting your team. 2 things that you should familarize yourself with are ammo box location for ammo/grenades, and enemy spawn points. This character really shines when it comes to defending an area. Many teams have witnessed defend area's and hold choke points off single handedly and/or beat the odds when **** hits the fan. The soldier's best attribute is DPS.

Sidenote* - 1 thing i've noticed about people who say that inferno grenades are useless is that they usually have not gotten the hang of tossing them. These grenades are thrown differently then all the rest. Underhanded and IMO cannot be tossed as far as others. This is fine, practice it and invest in them, I promise once you have the hang of this you will never doubt them again. This build can top the score boards, but thats not your focus! Your focus is High dmg and team support. I hope this build helps.

With few rewordings it's least efficient BF Soldier spec, isn't it? Just forgetting completely about adrenaline rush potential and shooting straight. Why select krogan then?

Because of the inferno grenades bro and the high health+shield.

I disagree with Fortification. Using level 3 shield enchancer and Fortification provides you impenetrable defence. Being able to survive 3 Atlas rockets in a rapid session... Being able to run through a square full of enemies.
Personally, i Use 6\\5\\3\\6\\6. Inferno grenades aren't really THAT useful on gold. Carnage is great, but after you take knockdown, it is already great.
Using heavy guns is a good choice, i prefer Claymore and Falcon. Enough long range firepower for support gunner, deadly in close quarters. GPS and spike thrower are great too.
The cooldown is big, but you are support gunner\\tank, not a DPS or CC. Piece of this, piece of that, some skill - and you are the ruler of the battlefield.

>implying I use Fortification for meleeing

Fortification gets another shield recharge time reduction, which is actually pretty nice in conjunction with the massive health and shields you have. You sacrifice Carnage, but you gain 30% damage reduction as well.

Inferno grenades are almost useless on gold - though the alternative fortification isn't that good either. I tend to get the latter as it can see some situational use (rez in heavy fire, running around the map, etc). The point is not to have it always on, like some people do.

Carnage spam is fine and good and all, but I prefer having the massive AOE of the Inferno grenade (and I mean massive, pretty sure it has the biggest blast radius of any grenade).

Fully upgraded with damage and power damage it'll still melt any unshielded mob, and it'll do massive damage to shielded mobs (~2100 damage over 8 seconds, not to mention the bonus damage versus armored upgrade).

Really, if I want to go with something like OP's build, I use my Battlefield 3. It's pretty much the exact same thing with some points in Adrenaline Rush. My Krogan Soldier's just built to tank.

Dunno, maxed damage protection from Fortification + running GPS and Falcon seems too good to pass. Keeping all those phantoms stunlocked with Falcon or spamming narrow hallways to keep the entire enemy force stunlocked. Hmm..

Well, that really shines with shield enchancer. Added 100% of shields let you survive for 4-5 sec under a constant fire from Cerberus turret. Priceless.

The math is solid, unfortunately ingame mechanics say otherwise.
In my experience, unshielded mobs die so very quickly because of tech bursts or biotic explosions you can't even aim at them properly. Inferno grenade's uselessness doesn't come from the lack of damage, but from the fact that enemies die too fast for a DoT to take effect.
For example, against trash, some engie overloads someone. You're better off using carnage, since it will unleash a tech burst, damaging and stunning everything in a huge area. Against elites, SIs do so much damage in one shot, you'll never notice a tiny 2100 damage in 8 seconds (atlases have about 21k/21k shields, and tend to die in maybe 10s).

Oh, and carnage spam is meant to be followed by an easy headshot with a graal because of the stagger. Fun times.

I want to try grenades, bur for now I'm happy with fortification and carnage spam. RAWWWR MISSILE OUT OF ****ING NOWHERE, AND NOW YOUR FACE IS FULL OF KROGAN. Rinse and repeat. At least on Silver, on Gold I play it more carefully and shoot from cover if there are more than 2 mooks able to shoot me. I still enjoy the tankiness. GRENADES? I EAT THESE GRENADES FOR BREAKFAST LIKE CEREAL, YOU CERBERUS ****.

Absolutely so. Grenades are good to have them as an additional ability, if you do not max Carnage. But their damage output is jus pitful, compared to, for example, Cluster grenades. Even if Inferno grenades damage for the full duration, the outcome is pathetic. They can help to keep shields from regenerating, but only of you do not have a team at all. If you have a good team, everybody will die before the end of duration.

Yeah ive seen those "meeleing" krogans on gold. Every 30 sec i have to res them. Meeleing is useful but its also situational. When a pyro gets upclose for example, then meeleing is the only choice, since krogans cant roll back or anything like that.

Melee'ing is fine. Yehs just gotta know when and where to use it on Gold. Silver and Bronze all bets are off.
