My krogan soldier is specced for carnage spam with a claymore. I thought about speccing him for all-out tankiness and ignoring cooldowns with heavy weapons, but my krogan sentinel is already specced that way. The sentinel already has better DR and I prefer lift grenades over inferno.

I slap a blade on my soldier's claymore. I only melee when enemies get close to my teammate. I don't have the graal. I have a GPS V, but any krogan who doesn't use a claymore is an embarrassment to his people. It's the same reason I use a scoped Saber II on my sentinel over the carnifex. Krogans don't use wimpy pistols.

Claymore to me isn't as affective when playing Gold. But if yehs found your little Sweet Spot, by all means!

Anyone who can play a Krogan on gold can invariably score higher with other races/classes. It's not that you can't play krogans in gold but rather that you could do better with almost any other class. This particular wet-tissue krogan support build plays nothing like the mass effect lore says krogans should be like, namely tough and hardy and in your face. Even if you fully tank your krogan and play it safe with support and/or shooting instead of melee, you'll invariably be stunlocked at some point and drop. With this build on gold, you'll only take 3 shots/melees/dirty looks to drop during stunlock instead of 4--5. It's a decent build for silver though....

@ForTuchunka / It's a decent build for Silver? Guess you can't read well because I specifically stated Gold. If you can't handle a Krogan on Gold, then stay on Silver. As for me and everyone else who posted on here, we'll stick with tearin it up on Gold with style.

I can read quite well but am simply disagreeing with you.  You, on the other hand, have a problem with reading comprehension apparently as I clearly stated that you CAN play krogans on gold, just that other classes simply do everything a krogan can do (including survive) but do so better.  If you can't handle discussion on a discussion forum, feel free to start up a blog as no one can disagree with your ideas there (regardless of how wrong they are).

@ForTuchunka / Disagreeing..... comprehension.... THE? Why vent about using another class when this topic is specifically geared towards the Krogan Soldier? You do it because you think you're all high and mighty and want to be a pain in the ass. I can handle a discussion on a Forum. Look what I'm doing with you. If you got offended because of MY reply, you sir can cry on the Shoulder.

Your idea of "handling" a dissenting opinion on your class build is to tell me to stay on silver and accuse me of illiteracy while at the same time completely ignoring the issue I raise?  LOL,  you're "handling" discussion quite well.  Either way, have fun playing your wet tissue support krogan on gold... maybe I'll see someone running your build later tonight rage quitting on wave 3 after the rest of the team stops constantly reviving them.

@Tuchanka / Is this what yehs do all day on this Forum man? Posting stuff with big words just because? When a Krogan Soldier saves your life more than once past round three, you're going to be cursing my name many times over. Would have used Plethora instead of Many, but I'm not as smart as you Capitan.

If I eventually need a krogan soldier to revive my character on gold, I'm pretty sure it won't be one using your proposed wet tissue build.

First - NotPotato is right, DoT damage in this game isn't useful. There are occassional situations where it's nice to have IGs (with the proper upgrade it melts armor like an icecream, which is great on gold wave 11 when the extraction point is swarming with Brutes). But mostly basic Grunts die like ants. And also the spawn rate of grenades in armor crates is sloooooow. Absurdly slow.

Second - Carnage is much better but mostly has limited use. Against Geth is much less effective and also many Cerberus unit can avoid the slow blast by rolling which is annoying. But against Reapers it's great.

Third - ppl may be annoyed by not skilled Krogan meleeing everything and dying constantly, I get it, but melee for Krogan is like an omni-tool for engie. In many situations it's actually much faster and practical to stun a lone Phantom with Falcon or GPS and then heavy-melee her to death than try to shoot it. Same with Nemesis, Guardian, Marauder and all the other nimble opponents, if not in massive groups of course. Plus it's just too much fun and the sound effects are awesome :) You just must not get carried away.

That said I actually much prefer Krogan Sentinel. Tech Armor gives 40 % dmg protection, fully specced Rage aonother 30, so with TA and in Rage you're practically unstoppable killin' machine :) And if you miss your heavy melee you can detonate TA, stun surrounding mooks and then deal with them. Falcon or GPS are a must, although I prefer GPS because for Falcon you have to host plus GPS has better targeting.

With few rewordings it's least efficient BF Soldier spec, isn't it? Just forgetting completely about adrenaline rush potential and shooting straight. Why select krogan then?

 Max Fortication. (Focus on protection)
Max Rage (Focus on protection except for rank 5)
Max Beserker (Balance between weapon and power damage)
 Inferno Grenade to rank 4
 Carnage to 3

I agree that the grenades are usless. While DoT might look nice most mobs will not live that long with a good team. I take fort because I find more sits where it comes in handy then nades do.

The grenades are great with Carnage as you can set up your own fire explosions. They also are great to use on Hunters and Phantoms as you will still see them on fire if they try to cloak after being hit.

I specced carnage for AoE for one very simple thing: because of the splash damage, if I aim carnage over the enemies' heads, it will still hit even if they try to roll away from it.
It's very important that I use carnage not so much for the damage (which is okay though for gold) but for the stagger - it allows me to land headshots with the otherwise very hard to use Graal. It's quite possible to one-shot elite units on gold, because the gun itself does ridiculous amounts of damage (accentuated with barrel), is very accurate to mid-range with a choke (otherwise aim for center mass) and by shooting multiple spikes it bypasses the shield gate mechanic. Also it's the most badass gun in the game :D

...So by now you should have all the information you need to pop heads with style. MRRAAAAAAAAWWW!

I just have to say, people are treating it like you should be using Inferno Grenades all the time, which just isn't the case. You use them when there's a cluster of enemies, or you use them for hit and run. Sure, it's not as good as spamming carnage all the time, but by the same token, everyone's saying "Oh well everything dies too fast anyways." You can do solid AOE damage with no setup time (like Tech Bursts or Biotic Explosions) without exposing yourself very much. That's the advantage of inferno grenades.
