Can someone tell me, when exactly in the last decades a "happy ending" became synonymous with "too simple", "too cliche", "too uncreative"??? Call me stupid, but i'll take the classical Disney Happy ending where everyone lived happily ever after over any pseudo "artistic" crap...Seriously, the ME3 ending doesn't need any clarification, since the whole thing is just a complete clusterf*ck...

Then play Disney. Film, books and all sorts of different mediums are used as escapism. That doesn't stop the fact that not everything has happy endings.

what do they mean by clarification????

You know, "why did X happened, and what does Y mean, and does it involve Z".

Yeah that.

But seriously, this is better than nothing. I'm glad it is confirmed at least, and not just speculations.

Oh, very nice: They make it seem like they are giving in to out requests, while, in reality, they do nothing of the sort, giving us nothing more than a few lines of text. Yet, if we come out against this, RetakeME3 will look exactly like the impossible-to-please fanboys BiowarEA makes us out to be.

We're in check.

Anyone noticed how this gets announced just as all the Bioware staff are either on vacation or have flown off to PAX?

They must have known it'd end up a **** storm, clever they released it now so no questions about it could be asked before PAX.

Or they released it before PAX so that the fans could ask questions about it at PAX.

No.  It HAS been done before, repeatedly.  People have provided clear examples in these forums.  It is NORMAL, it is DOABLE, it is DONE.  Period.  No argument can be made to deny objective reality.

Not after a release to the general public.

What was Shadow Broker DLC?  What was that extra ending that Fallout 3(?) got?

This sounds promising. Really depends on the execution, but if they give the extended cut as much attention as they did Tuchanka and other locations, I trust that BioWare will do a great job.

What's wrong with this being an option?

Because it becomes the standard and without thinking, the "sunshine brigade" (as we've dubbed  them) would instantly metagame that choice and do so without any thought into the process and thus completely dismiss everything else relevent with the decision.

You want happily ever after? Go watch DIsney.

I play games as a form of escapism, so I want my happy, or semi-happy ending.

It isn't our, nor Bioware's fault that you have a sad/unhappy life.

Im curious about this DLC. Lets wait and see about the content. Maybe it gives some extra playtime. I mean a DLC that has only cinematics?

Stop ****ing damn it! They are doing this FOR YOU! They don't need a clarified or changed ending. THEY ARE DOING THIS FOR YOU, THEIR FANS. So stop with the hate. It's not nice.

Err, pal.

They kinda did need to do something about it, don't know where you've been this past month but half of their fan base if not more have been in protest about it.

Doubt they'd want to lose the customers.

Theyre a company, not some sort of 'ghandi' avatar.

Way too little, way too late. Slapping paint on dogsh*t and calling it "clarification". You know how I would clarify sh*t? As a biologist, I would slap a piece of sh*t in a test tube with an equal volume of water, stir it into a paste, stick it in a centrifuge, spin the cr@p out of it (so to speak), pull the pungent clarified solution floating on top out. THAT is clarified sh*t. Do you want to drink it?

Of course you don't. It's sh*t water.

This is a panic move.  They have DLC in the can that they want to trickle out for $10 a pop but hardly anyone will buy it because of the sh*t ending.  They put this announcement out in hopes that it will quell the people who THINK, who grasp the basics of LOGIC.  People who tend to like RATIONALITY.  They hoped to shut them down by tossing dirt in their faces and trick them into buying the other DLC.  To what end?  So it can add EMS to your scoreboard and lead you to Red, Blue, or Green and death all-round.  All paths still lead to sh*t.

Don't drink the sh*t water!

your example is completely irrelevant and moronic to say the least. When I bought my car I knew what car type it was I knew exactly what it was equiped with and its specifications. There was nothing about my car that needed to be clarified. The fact that it broke down shortly after means that my car was faulty and that it needed REPAIRS. Normally they change the faulty parts with new ones, the SAME ones. They are not going to put me a racing modified double clutch because the stadard clutch it had broke down...and I sure as hell am not entitled to tell them to put me something different in my car than what it had when I bought it...unless in your city you go to the mechanic with a Yugo and then you come out with a Ferrari, because, "hey"... your car "broke down" and the only way to be compensated is if the give you a completely different car than the one you bought...

Seriously if you want to find reasons to moan all the time, you need to find better examples/arguments. Comparing a car that breaks down with the poor ending of a videogame is one of the most retarded things i've heard lately...

I hated the ending myself but I dont believe that it is 100% unfixable and I will reserve judgement until I experience it.

The point flies right over your head and you call me moronic. Thanks. Here's the point that was being made, since evidently an analogy needs to be spelled out to you. 'Clarified' if you will. The type of the car is irrelevant. The clutch, all of those details you just piled in to pad out your post in some incoherent ramble as if it were to somehow deflect my point with whatever backwards logic that must make ME3's ending seem unbroken to you, are completely irrelevant. The car isn't the subject. The premise is. A problem has presented itself, and it needs to be fixed. Instead of fixing the problem that was requested to be fixed, a superficial cover-up was done instead, completely avoiding the issue that required addressing and focusing on something else entirely. That was the point.

You are so easy to manipulate...

This is nothing more than a PR-stunt. IGN will probably praise it as "the change for the love of the fans".
We (the fans who they are trying to address) never asked for clarification. Not a single time. We want this steaming pile of crap erased and changed.

I never protested for 'clarification' or an 'epilogue'.  Have you read the 'yes we are listening thread?'

Getorex wrote...
Please read plain English.  We are NOT asking for "clarification".  We KNOW what the ending was and is.  It was and remains sh*t, illogical, nonsensical, irrational, story-violating sh*t.

Clarifying it merely gives us a bigger, more detailed picture of sh*t.

Understand now?

You both wanted BioWare to do something, at the core of it. Did you really expect a company to erase their endings and make new ones? That's going too far and it would be illogical to expect it. Hope or dream? You could do that, but expect? No way. Not when it's been released to the general public already.

Also, I'd appreciate that the tone was less hostile. Again, you are getting something from BioWare, you should be happy that they even responded in the first place. Most devs would not do so.

I completely agree with this ^^

I DON'T COMPREHEND. I DON'T.

I'm not holding any line, either.

Because no one has protested for "clarification".
The ending as it is makes no sense. The starchild makes no sense.

How can it possibly even begin to make sense if you dismiss any 'clarification' as being unacceptable before you've even heard it?
