Way for all you people that are whining to show your true colours

For the last month many have tried to clarified that the ending "didn't make sense and was full of plot holes"

Now that this clarification ending has been announced you're still complaining even though its set to address the "plot holes"

YOU GUYS ARE CLEARLY COMPLAINING BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE ENDING AND WANTED IT TO BE MORE OF A CALL OF DUTY PARADE PUPPIES AND RAINBOWS ENDING.

Point...missing it.

rizuno wrote...

Some points that are popping up here.

1.) They gave you what you wanted, stop whining.
-This isn't what the movement protested for. Ergo, it is NOT what we wanted. It's a start, and I thank them for that, but it reeks of pacification. From the beginning Retake has been about the ending failing at being an ending, and we feel that there are much better alternatives out there. there were giant gaping massive PLOTHOLES. There was a lack of choice. There was a lack of continuity in the storyline. There was a distinct lack of actual endingS. I could go on and on and on.

2.) Happiness is not realistic.
-Of course it is. It's called hope. It's why we are able to get up in the morning. It's where all motivation stems from. When did 'happiness' become something that we shouldn't want or expect out of life or our entertainment? You don't want happiness in your Shepard story? Fine. That's the whole point, just like everything else in the ME series, it should be gamer choice. Where down the line in fiction did a 'happy' ending start to = 'bad'?

3.) You're all just haters.
-Sweeties...you have not even SEEN what 'hating on BioWare' could be. The fact that we're HERE IN THEIR FORUM discussing this PROVES that we still care, and care very deeply. I have never said, nor SEEN ANYONE say, 'BioWare we hate you, die' I see a lot of 'BioWare, we love you, please fix this' though.

OK Lemme address this

1. Thats what this DLC is addressing were you not paying attention to my post?
2. IT A REALISTIC SCI-FI F#%%ING WAR STORY, You can't expect it to be all happy and cheerful it'd ruin the entire formula of the series to suddenly be all happy and joyful, This also comes back to my original point about wanting the story to be your own, if you want it to be your own WRITE FAN FICTION.
3.ORLY? Tell that to the fans that wanted to sue Bioware over the ending http://social.biowar...281/16#11026853

1. It is NOT what this DLC is addressing, did you read the article?  We are not getting a new ending we are getting 'clarification' and 'epilogue' and 'added on'.  Room for interpretation, but clearly not addressing the main issues of the Retake Movement.

2.  Oh don't give me that 'realistic' bullcrap.  At the end of ME1 Commander Shepard Saved the effing Galaxy.  At ME2 I saved all my squad, we kicked major a** and WE ALL SMILED AT EACH OTHER AT THE END and talked afterwards about YAY we were ALIVE.  And my Shepard playthroughs ARE my own.  That is the premise of the entire ME Franchise.  Even so, I say again, what is so wrong with allowing Shepard to live and have some kind of life rebuilding the galaxy?  I want and expect pain and death and sadness, that doesn't mean that there can't or shouldn't be some sort of hope for the future in the ending.  And no, Jungle Planet and Grandpa do not count.

3. Extremists that I have not seen involved in the discussions about endings, suck, change and all derivatives thereof.

1. So its clearly because you don't like the ending so you want a different one, Thats what it boils down to
2. But you're not the main writer of the series, Bioware is again see point one

Thank you for proving my original point

1.  Exactly, which they have STILL not given us or addressed.  THAT is my point.

2.  I never said I was.  BioWare writes it, full of choices, sells it to me on that point, and then I, with the copy that I have BOUGHT, create a personalized account, YES within the strictures that they allow, But it is the fact that they allow all throughout the series and then disallow right at the very end where it was all supposed to come together rather than being ignored.

Thank you for having no point to prove.

Whilst it's good to have additional closure to the series, what irked most people were the galactic sized plot holes and the introduction of a new antagonist just minutes before the games end. That is just poor plotting and writing by anyone's standards. If they'd weaved hints through out the games that the crucible was at the centre of the Reapers, we'd have brought it. Heck, Babylon 5 was a show in which for the first two seasons more mysterious hints were dropped than answered. But that was never ME's style. Which is why the big reveal never worked. It also stripped away any power that the Reapers had over the ME universe, beyond being vast engines of destruction.

The story was broken by a broken ending, but Bioware's ego is getting in the way of them ever seeing this.

If you're posting on this forum (multiple times, I might add), you have time to spare. Watch it tonight if you don't have time now.

It's 2am
NO

So, you've had the time to spare to stay up until 2 in the morning where you live to call people whiners, but you couldn't have used some of that time to watch a 39 min. video to inform yourself as to what the people who aren't happy with this think?

A new antagonist is fine as long as you carry some semblance of context with it - it has to be relatable to the player, the lack of questioning and things being too open-ended and Shepard blindly agreeing removes that context and devolves the participation of the player.

From the sound of it, they're only adding cinematics to the ending and not changing anything else. If this is the kind of customer appreciation we can expect from Bioware and EA, then I'll be dam*ed if I'll ever buy another game from them ever again!

Did anyone else notice that they say "no extra charge" in the released statement. Doesn't that mean it could just be tacked onto charged DLC, but it simply doesn't raise the cost of said DLC? No extra charge doesn't necessarily mean free. Aside from the fact that simple clarification wasn't what most people who disliked the endings wanted. I want to be able to refuse the starchild's logic. The ending makes no sense whatsoever. How is 'extending' it making it any better?

I for one am pleased by this, for a few reasons.

1) Something actually came of our unhappiness with the ending. That by itself is worth celebrating I think due to its rarity. How often do developers actually listen to their fans and actually attempt to addresssome of their concerns?

2) Consideringthis is a press release, I am going to put little stock in trying to dissect their wording for hints of what the DLC will actually include, especially as the things they actually do mention could very well change
during development. Keeping this in mind, I am still harboring a small hope this extended cut could very well include a Indoctrination theory ending. We have no evidence to suggest otherwise, so why not? :)

3)In a move that is a cherry on top, they have said they are going to release the DLC for Free. I was prepared to pay for a better ending (as really we are asking for additional content after all, however bad we feel the ending was) but this revelation that it will be free is most welcome. While this may raise some concerns over quality of the content,I would point out if they do a good, quality job, it will be a massive PR success, and that could conceivably be worth it’s weight in element zero (positively charged)

Bottom Line: I wanted Bioware to do SOMETHING about the plot hole filled ending. They have now said they will, for free. Until I can play through this DLC, and it is proven to be nothing but a empty placating gesture and simply
compounds the negative aspects of the ending, I will be optimistic and take the DLC’s very exsistanece as a sign that Bioware is still the good company I have liked for years.

Thank you Bioware for Listening,I am so happy my trust in your is seemingly being rewarded, and I look forward to playing the DLC...now please don’tmess it up.

p.s. Wanted to stress this guys, but please keep in mind, any disussion of what the DLC may or may nto conatin based on their wording in the press release is PURE speculation, so try not to get too upset about it either way until we actually are able to play the DLC.

p.p.s. Keep things civil here guys, c'mon.

Patiently waiting for the important announcement Biwoare will make tomorrow.
Probably has something to do with this though.

Very curious about what these scenes are.
They probably take place after you get the Cerberus hq mission, thus why the game goes back to before that point when you`re done.

At the very least, I'm happy that it is free and that it is supposed to bring more closure.

How 'bout no? How 'bout you just watch it. It's honestly not that complicated at all. The reason it's 39 minutes long, however, is because of how colossally bad the ending is, that it needs that much time to break down WHY it's bad even in simple terms. The reason why there's 'all those points' as you put it is BECAUSE there are so many problems with the ending. But if you'd watched the damned vid, you'd know that, instead of complaining about having to, ironically given your last remark, think for yourself. Since you clearly adhere to the 'omg ur just angry cuz ur whinerz' crowd, and do so willfully, whilst ignoring the reasonings when they're presented to you.

Like I said I don't have time, either use your own arguments or don't waste my time 39 minutes is still 39 minutes and there is no way I'm watching the whole thing just because you can't make your own points up and have to follow someone elses

You really should watch it. Highly recommended.

This is pretty much what I expected and probably preferred to a complete change and replacement of the old endings. HOWEVER, I had hoped they might add MORE possible ending choices to make (like tell the Catalyst "No thanks, we'll take our chances, and WITHOUT wiping out the geth and all other synthetics in the process" even if that means it ends with the Reapers winning and continuing the cycle, because AT LEAST it would have given you the option to stay defiant up until the final moments). This wouldn't involve removing the current endings, but just making more possibilities, something a game about choice can and should do but a movie can't.

As for what they are actually doing, I hope it doesn't just add more scenes onto the 3 endings, but actually takes into account our earlier decisions as well to add more variation. For example, it would show what the quarians and geth did if they made peace, or just the geth or just the quarians if they didn't. Or if you cured the genophage, show how the krogan, led by Wrex if he's still alive, begin to try and better work with the other species and come up with new, more humane solutions to their rapid birthrate and tendencies for violence. And if you didn't cure the genophage, show how the krogan rebell again and are rapidly put down and sent into extinction once and for all.

This would make me fully satisfied with the endings, if they actually show what comes of the galaxy afterwards due to all my decisions, while simultaneously explaining a little better the whole Catalyst thing and maybe fixing the whole "why didn't the catalyst just activate the Citadel relay himself in ME1?" thing. For example, maybe he has no physical body to interact with the world and only Shepard could have even communicated with him because of X reason, you know, some kind of explaination. Obviously, how everyone gets out of the Local Cluster and back to their home systems without the Mass Relays so they don't starve is the single most important thing to answer of all.

I can respect Bioware for refusing to change the games ending on artistic grounds.
Hopefully they can respect me in turn when i dont buy any DLC for ME3 or buy any future product from them that is part of the Mass Effect Franchise.
I may take a look at the Extended Cut DLC if its free but from this point on i am done with the Mass Effect franchise.
My isssue has always been that Casey Hudson,Mac Walters and Mike Gamble outright lied to sell this game, and for that reason i am done with ANY Bioware product that these three individuals are involved with from this point on.

In honesty im not done with Bioware, i enjoy SWTOR and i have high hopes for the next Dragon Age game. But dont expect me to be pre ordering from this point on.

Said my piece and this is the last post i shall be making in regard to Mass Effect or in the Mass Effect forums.

If anyone wants me im on the TOR boards or in the DA forums from now on Image IPB

I'm not overly optimistic about this either. Simply put, the current ending was very badly written. This comes from either being too clever by half or going for a marmite ending on purpose (which comes across in some of the comments by the games creators). This is not a good way of writing (because rather than change their vision or change the game canon - neither appears to have happened and you get a mess as they tried to do both and neither made sense). In essence you get an ending from ine game attached to another. Releasing a further explanation to say - no this is what we really meant - see you just didn't get it - is not good writing or communication. It's like having to explain a joke - if you are trying, you've already lost. This is a shame as so much of ME3 is truly brilliant.

I'm a member of the retake club. But I don't have a preference for what the ending should be nor do I have to like it. I want one that is well written, makes sense and is satisfying. I may wish it was different, but I love or hate it, I want to say that was a good ending. This I don't think will deliver it.
