Whilst it's good to have additional closure to the series, what irked most people were the galactic sized plot holes and the introduction of a new antagonist just minutes before the games end. That is just poor plotting and writing by anyone's standards. If they'd weaved hints through out the games that the crucible was at the centre of the Reapers, we'd have brought it. Heck, Babylon 5 was a show in which for the first two seasons more mysterious hints were dropped than answered. But that was never ME's style. Which is why the big reveal never worked. It also stripped away any power that the Reapers had over the ME universe, beyond being vast engines of destruction.
The story was broken by a broken ending, but Bioware's ego is getting in the way of them ever seeing this.
A new antagonist is fine as long as you carry some semblance of context with it - it has to be relatable to the player, the lack of questioning and things being too open-ended and Shepard blindly agreeing removes that context and devolves the participation of the player.
A new antagonist isn't fine, not so late in the game, and certainly without any hints that there was something bigger driving the Repears. Even Nu-BSG made the pretence of at least painting the fact that higher powers were at large when it came to the conflict between man and machine, and it wasn't entirely dumped upon the viewer at the end that it was all Gods plan. I may not have enjoyed the ending because of the the theological cow pat at the end, but at least there was some internal consistancty within (even if it was contrived). But the A.I kid completely supplants the Reapers as the main threat, which makes the entire previous two games kind of redundant in the fact they squarely had the Repears sized up as the main threat to galactic civlisation.
Obviously the new writing team were left with a story they hadn't created, with no real idea how to resolve it. So they went about creating the A.I child purely for the specifics of ending the story, not because he was an integral part of the whole trilogy. Anyone who's read, watched or wrote enough will realise that. Good writing stands worlds apart from rushed, poor or ill thought out writing, and guess which catagory ME3's ending falls into? At the end of the day though, I'm guessing EA are just not going to fund the extra million it could potentially cost to re-write five minutes of game time.

Misplaced faith it seems, even here (the heart of bio-fanaticsm) 9the fast majority wants a better ending.
Not more cutscenes for the same illogical and unsatisfying ending. They might think it is artistic to have one of those open endings where the player is left to wonder what exactly happened. In my opinion it just means the creators themselves have no clue and just act as if they're smart.
And with the indoctrination theory they even have room to rewrite the ending. They can't leave fans hanging like this. If they do, than I swear I will never buy a Bioware product again. Something I can easily do because I don't want to risk experiencing the same disappointment that ME3's ending was. It really makes me wish I could delete the entire experience from memory.
Right now the ending is as bad as the ending of Sucker Punch and The Matrix Revolution. It isn't Fight Club or the Sixth Sense.

- They keep talking about "re-prioritizing" existing efforts. One could easily take that to mean that much of the content, in the extended cut, would have been intended to be seamless parts of the world, in various pieces of DLC and that it has been gutted from those, so that it can instead be thrown into a big bucket of contrieved wrapper-upper mush, leaving both to suffer.
- Any scenes recut (there is no doubt plenty of existing material on the cutting room floor) for clarity, could well make viewers go from subtle storytelling and: "Whaa? That doesn't make sense!", to leading by the hand and: "Now you're insulting my intelligence!".
- Every time you wrap up a sub-arc, such as ending the quarian/geth conflict, one way or other, there is a huge blinking neon sign, that says: "This is one element of your closure". ;P

Waiting to see what "listening to fans" means. Trust is a bit difficult to give by now to any games.
I hope it'll settle things but... I admit, I'm a bit scared.
Wait and see.... and hope ?
Finaly I'd like to say thanks for the game and the efforts done for about theese 80 hours of game from Me 1 to Me 3 (actually 80h and 10 minutes but the last ten minutes.. well you know. I prefer replace it with my imagination)
I'll be looking foward to that DLC but only 'cause I'm curious and love the mass effect style/universe/races/characters. Nothing more.

It better address that whole Rachni situation. If it doesn't then it still needs fixing. If it doesn't change A, B, or C then it still needs fixing. Each one of these different endings we have needs more clarification to be sufficient. Differences between the state of earth, differences between the three main choices, Shepard's breath, Stranded Normandy (including everything surrounding it including squadmates and why it ran in the first place), etc. all of this needs clarification or it changes nothing.
And some of these things just can't be clarified. A squadmate that was with me right before the end can't suddenly be in the normandy. Apart form that it is physically impossible, it is also against their characters. The ending is just BS, the only sound explanation is the indoctrination theory. But with this FAQ they are saying this isn't the case...

They don't give a crap about what fans what, they are proud of endings. They are just giving us some cheap cutscenes and epilogues which might be just text and that's it. That doesn't mean they listen to what we want.

BioWare literally cannot win at this point. If they didn't do anything about the ending, the response is "BIOWARE IS UP ON THEIR MONEY TOWER IGNORING THE COMMUNITY THAT LOVED THEIR VIDEOGAMES **** COMPANY BAD GAME". With this DLC, all they get is "BIOWARE IS UP ON THEIR MONEY TOWER MAKING A ****TY ENDING WORSE AND THEREFORE VICARIOUSLY ****TY ON THE COMMUNITY THAT LOVED THEIR GAMES **** COMPANY BAD GAME."
Malek posted:
"Which is humorous in it's entirety only because the community dug an entire escape tunnel for them to get out with. Full details and everything. And instead they looked at this massive escape hatch to freedom and thought "Oooo a new toilet!" and then ran head long into the electric fence.
I have no sympathy for them anymore."

Í'm glad Bioware isn't changing the ending. I honestly think this is the right choice, even if unfortunately can't satisfy everyone's wishes. I'll probably check it out for my Shepard, unless there's substantial replay required for triggering the new cinematics.
agree with this. Changing the ending will make BioWare even worse in current state. A developer that can not even control their own product? mass effect is not a fan funding project and should not be substantially changed if fans demand it. Fans can say whatever s**t toward the game, but BioWare should hold their line too. All they need to do is to keep the promises they made before release and make the game ending more personal.
