I'm willing to give this one a chance. I reserve judgement to the aftermath.

Kudos for not charging the fans. I do believe, that this is rather commendable of you.

Will any of our choices now matter? Or is it sill ABC?

They're expanding upon the current endings. So, none of your choices will matter.

Oh, it is, I have snacks and popcorn bought already.

our choices... they have disclaimed that ;) , but yeah our choices never had an impact whatsoever.

adios bioware.

I was actually referring to the train wreck, but anything goes I guess. Except the endings of ME3, they're here to stay and be expanded upon. Yay!

One to ponder on a rainy day:

Did EA really believe that this might quelch the coming heat at PAX?

This is simply an attempt to reduce the anger as they attend PAX tomorrow. Think of the timing of this release alone. They're hoping that their big multiplayer DLC anouncement will now be picked up by the masses after "handling" the ending issue.

As for the release date of this summer? Honestly. How long does it take to string together a few more still shots and text?

This is an excellent point. The timing of this release is just a little too concidental for me to buy. What it really looks like (and I'm surprised more people haven't caught this) is that EA/BW are announcing this now so they can skirt the issue at PAX- all they would have to claim is that they've "already discussed it." If anything, this release shows just how sleazy they really are. They knew this release would serve to divide the retake community and it's working quite well. At the same time, they also knew that this would give them a much better light in actual media coverage- now they can say they made an effort to change it. EA/BW comes off looking like a $1000 bill for not having done anything but cover their own a** . Very sleazy, very crafty

I'm no fan of EA but let's be fair. Certainly they (EA) have done a lot over the years but when it comes to Mass Effect 3 I simply don't think it's correct to blame them. Let's not forget that what happened with ME3 is the ENDING. Let's not forget how ME3 was actually postponed from a christmas release to make sure it exceeded expectations. I have no reason to believe that the ending wasn't already in place if the game was near release. This is BioWare's thing altogether.

It's likely that BioWare realized too late that they had written themselves into a real corner with their Reaper plot. Would they go so far as to steal the entirety of Frederik Pohl's Assassins plot? It's a theory, but it's likely that BioWare realized that they couldn't get away with such plagiarism. Writing a truly original ending, as well as coming up with a reason for the Reapers existence, proved difficult. That would explain Mass Effect 2's largely Reaper-less plot. Were they stalling? Only a theory and probably not true. Probably not. In the end they had to come up with something and so it was deemed acceptable to simply copy Deus Ex 1 and provide no answers whatsoever and pray that nobody would call them out for it.

Maybe.

Will wait for more details before deciding whether to order ME3 or not (cancelled my preorder when I first found out about the endings).

If everything is still screwed, just more "clearly" screwed, I'll happily live without ME3.

Really disappointed by this announcement. After all the outcry and all the complaints from so many about how we found the ending to be sub par and even nonsensical, this is it, an extended cutscene.

Its their right of course to stick to their guns and with the existing ending and just clarifying it a bit, but i had truly hoped for more from them. As is, i just uninstalled ME3 and Origin and won`t be purchasing any future DLCs, if anything i`ll just watch the new cutscenes on Youtube if i get curious about it.

As much as i loved this series, that ending killed it for me, and Bioware`s stance through all this had greatly diminished my view of and respect of that company.

I still say don't be so quick to rush to judgment. I am hoping that these extended cutscenes will reflect our choices made during the game. It's possible the cutscenes won't be the same for everybody. So the endings could still be different, without changing the basic ending choices. It's clear there is a ton of room that could make those basic choices quite varied in how they affect the galaxy.

Not that I am defending Bioware or anything, but... people did want to know what happened with their team members, LI and galaxy
Here, now you are getting it.
Then there are those who wanted a new ending.
Sorry guys, "artistic integrity".
So they were listening to you after all.

We wanted a NEW ending not CLARIFICATION. Bioware keeps throwing that word at us because
a) they we not listening closely enough.
B) they mistook our anger as a manifestation of over-obsessed fans trying to juice more from the series because we miss the franchise.
c) or they hoped they could convince us that all we needed was clarification.

abc ... see what I did there?

Like they had any other choice, they can't put positive PR spin on that.

I can only pray that the extended ending DLC blows everyone expectations, solving major plotholes and making choices matter even if we have to keep dealing with the damned Starchild.

To me it's only possible if they leave the door open to a ME4 game (with a cliffhanger style), but it does not seem likely. If the endings are expected to remain as they are, and the DLC consists only of animations that pretend to bring "closure", i think we keep the Normandy fleeing for no apparent reason with your squadmates inside, among other major issues.

Summing it up, i dont think more video/animation will solve the major mistakes and plotholes under the current "artistic view" of the endings.

Hope Bioware suprises everybody, but i sadly have to think that they just to pretend kick the ball away, get rid off the pressure at PAX and try to make us forget.

Oh, a free patch with some tacked on red green and blue cinematics? Well, herpes is free, too.

It's been a good run, BioWare. I will treasure the good memories I have and do my best to forget the bad ones. I will never spend another dime on anything with the BioWare or EA label again. It's clear you don't care about your established fan base; you want a new one where sale numbers and gaming magazines and websites licking your boots mean more than anything else. If that's BioWare's new "artistic vision", you can take it and cram it. You DON'T appreciate our passion, you DON'T listen to our feedback, and the only response we get is crying about your hurt feelings, your amazing "reviews", and throwing us a bone as an afterthought. BioWare once had a craft and an art. Saying that the crap you're spitting out now is art and that you're proud of it is a slap in the face to all the people that have maintained undying loyalty to you for over a decade.

The one good thing out of this is I will now have more money to spend on my new hobby of marksmanship. I can't wait to take my collector's edition out to the range and fire some hollow point rounds into it.

Well, if this thread has managed to solve anything, I think it's that we can now say with absolute certainty that no one only wanted clarity and closure, except for those that did, and no one was campaigning so they could get a happy ending, except for those that were. *giggles*

Clarification? No that's not gonna help closure won't help when star brat is introduced within the last five to ten minutes long time allies flee (who have disobeyed order's and joined cerberus for shepard's cause I might add),and crash on some unknown world. No if all that stay's there no way they can explain the ending their gonna lose quite a lot of their customer's if they refuse to except the current ending's are terrible artistic integrity be damned I didn't buy this for art I bought it cause its a game that HAD before this game been a story about choice there's no choice in this.

Little depressing, but I'm still willing to see it through.

Yeah well **** you too EAWare.

Don't really feel like waiting till summer for some crap DLC that will just ****** me off even more by the sound of it. Nothing more to do then delete this piece of "art" and Origin from my computer before I get indoctrinated and start drooling on my self.

I will soon welcome them to my X360 as well. I already tried the original Witcher on my PC, but my PC just doesn't have what it takes to play it properly. Luckily they're comming to consoles now too! So hopefully they'll be able to offer story-based RPG goodness while we burry Bioware.

I keep seeing people say they are confused at how the team let this slide. The team didn't. The ending was written by Casey Hudson and Mac Walters a few weeks away from release. The rest of the writing team had no input on it.

I'm done. Bioware is gone. It is just a label that EA throws on to studios to make them seem more prestigious. They have no integrity. They are not willing to admit they lied to consumers, and they are not willing to fix their mistakes.

But hey, fake artistic integrity is better than real integrity right? For Bioware it obviously is because it means you don't have to put in the effort to fix your mistakes or live up to your commitments.
