Four months to go until the ending!! Unfortunatley, I traded in all three of the games already. What's the point? I'll keep my ambigous, disappointing ending, that's fine. Maybe someday in the future I'll read about how things ended. ME3 will go down as one of the dumbest marketing schemes to force dlc and multiplayer down gamers throats for more profit. And instead, they've turned off a lot fans. When I see a Bioware game in the future, I'll wait until I see a consensus of gamers praising the game before I buy it.

My distinct impression is that this is a very off-key strategy, I do not think there is any way to salvage the current ending save for a drastic re-write. Clarity is most definitely not what it is lacking, the ending is a complete tonal, plot, and lore non-sequitur. Any ending with bluestarkid and the three magical "pathways" is going to be crippled and feel like reliving a horrid nightmare. In any case, I will not be playing the DLC or anything at all until I hear word from others that it addresses a good amount of the concerns of the current ending. I truthfully do not see that happening with an "extended cut."

Why protect the artistic vision of the ending when it is really bad?

The ending has worse vision than a drunk shepard.

Ugh, at first I was glad you guys complained so much about the ending, but now that we're getting what we wanted...you people still complain? You are the worst fans ever.

It's free why is there so much whining. You wanted a new ending and bioware is doing it. Eh probably doing it for real fans and not whining babies

I love how the artistic integrity wasn't so important after all.

I will remain optimistic, but if this fails...

...EA/BioWare will never  see another red cent from me.

Sadly, this "Extended Cut" will, more than likely, be nothing more than another disappointment.

The way I see it BW-EA already milked their fans for the day one Prothean DLC, then gave us a half-finished (at best) ending. THE LEAST they can do is make this free.

We won't know until it's released, but it seems pretty clear that this DLC is NOT what most people were asking for, not even close. This is NOT new endings, or even an ending where your choices throughout the series really matter. So yeah, fans who are critical of the current ending have little reason to view this announcement with anything other than extreme skepticism.

This is how Mass Effect dies. Not with a bang, but with a wimper.

It isn't a "real" ending.  It is more turd.  The current ending isn't an ending and expanding it isn't an ending.

You two just got in the thread, didn't you? The whole problem is we aren't getting what we wanted. This isn't a new ending. They stated themselves in the Extended Cut FAQ that, no this isn't a new ending, it's a clarification of what's there. Unless that clarification is them saying "Hey, the indoctrination theory is right," this isn't what most of us who've complained about the ending want.

It's like seeing your boxing champion, punching himself in the face until he collapses on the floor. You can't do anything. He says calmly to you that he is listening, then continues to punch himself in the face.

So. Fu.cking. Annoying.

I'm still quite skeptical, did someone notify a mod to confirm this? However even if it is true, I think my bioware games buying have come to an end, including EA too. That ending left about 90% of the people who played ME1&2 empty and it will forever be associated this that.

For the hundredth time this is not what we wanted it is an add-on to what we wanted gone; it is not enough change we wanted to see our choices put into effect more closely, we wanted more than just crappy closure, we wanted good closure.
We expected that our past in the game would be more significant, like the rachni, it did not matter what we did in ME1, or the feros colony all that happens there is we get some War assets.

My take.

This is an attempt to turn an already bad situation into a revenue generating situation. They opted not to listen to fans concerns, and instead are holding fast to the original ending fans didn't like.

I strongly believe this is being done for a purpose, the ending of ME3 very strongly indicates that the intent was to end with a "Cliffhanger" and then to introduce the real endings as DLC later with the hopes of 100% sell through and almost no trade-ins. The belief was they could get people to hold onto their copies and hypothisize about what happened to shepherd. Obviously, it backfired.

This DLC is an ill-advised attempt to hold on to the original strategy. I strongly suspect the DLC they offer will be designed such that it will be a lead in to the planned DLC, not a resolution to the series as we were told we would get with the game itself. It's likely to be a DLC teaser-trailer.

I'm actually amazed at EA's ability to take a catastrophic situation, and in the quest for more money, make it apocalyptic. Because if I'm right, and long-time posters on this board know I have a trend right now, this is going to ignite a whole new firestorm.

I really doubt EA's going to survive this.

That's what I thought too until I read BobSmith101's sig:

"Mass Effect concludes not so much with a bang or a whimper but with the sound you get from releasing a ballon and watching it fart its way around the lounge."

Goodbye epic Mass Effect story.

To explain it so hopefully everyone can understand.

Bioware promised us they knew what we wanted for an ending, and promised us that they would not give us poo.  Then the game comes out, and we find out that the ending is a choice between cow poo, horse poo, and dog poo.  Customers complain, and make their voices heard over different formats.  Bioware says that it is their artistic integrity to use poo as an ending.  Customers complain more. EA stocks go down, especially after winning the Golden Poo award as worst American company.  Bioware promises a free dlc from material they probably already had made, that didn't survive the editing process.  But instead of a new ending, they are saying that it will be the same poo as before, but inside a gift box, with a bow on top.

For some people, that did not read Bioware's announcement close enough, they think they are giving us what we wanted.  But we certainly do not want the same old poo, with more poo heaped on top of it.

But aren't we still missing like 12 or so endings still? There are so many other colors to use!

GOOD GOD BIOWARE!!!!!  Are you not paying attention?  You know its illegal to drive drunk behind the wheel right?

You are going to further explain the pre-existing garbage ending???

I'm sorry but I think the idea that some people are spinning regarding Commander Shepard being indoctrinated sounds a whole hell of a lot better than further elaborating the heaping pile of crap that you created with the "God Child".

I'd rather believe that the RED Skittle ending you gave me where Shepard was "waking up" from a bad dream, severe injury, or suffering from injury/indoctrination as "The Truth" you promised us.

Where are the 12 endings you promised?  Where is the closure?  A critical 20-30 minutes of dialogue/action are missing that would rectify the mess you made.  A slideshow isn't going to cut it.

Check this out:
Angry Joe's suggestion sounds a TON better than furthering more Kool-Aid/Skittle endings. I'm glad I took Amazon up on my full refund.
