I can't wait to roll around laughing hysterically when someone creates a thread asking for a refund. I say this jokingly, but we are talking about a crowd that asked for refunds from a charity and for a game they "loved," but weren't willing to wait it out to see it fixed. I'd like to be proven wrong.... but it's plausible. I mean who else here predicted that the very fans prematurely accusing Bioware for charging for this ending DLC would completely overlook the kind gesture of giving it for free and instead rabble about them not getting exactly pin point what they asked for? I know I did in other forums. I'm just happy Bioware listened to what I said, or implemented something completely identical to what I asked for, you know... free ending DLC clarity :D

Yeah, the whole asking for refunds from a kids charity was low  we'll just sweep that under the rug and let time cover up that shame.

Okay, I totally missed out on something.  What happened?  Did people really donate money to try and affect a change to a perfectly respectable charity then get pissy and demand it back?

Wow.  I have no words.

Yeah, they donated to the Child's Play charity for some reason thinking it would lead to a new mass effect 3 ending. The director of the charity found out and apologized for the misunderstanding but some people still had the audacity to demand their money back from the little children.

Truly a dark hour :(

That is horribly shameful.

I understand people being passionate about what they love, but the reason why I've always loved living in the geek/nerd universe it because with that passion is usually tempered with a sense of fairplay and charity.  I guess some people lost their heads.

Thanks for the explaination!

The Retake campaign tried to turn people's anger into something positive by setting up a donation to Child's Play with the "Retake" banner over it. This was a way to show support through money to get EA to pay attention (it reached over $80,000 in a week; that's hugely impressive) while also using that money for something good.

Where the problem came in was people not realizing this was a donation to Child's Play, not an actual fund to change the ending. It was merely made for the sake of showing our numbers and benefitting children in need. The people who didn't realize that asked for a refund when the donation drive didn't achieve anything, thus making us all look bad.

****ing people on the internet, man. They're ****ed up.

Well how that drive was advertised here and at other websites its not suprising. It was the height of marketing and PR. To feed on peoples emotions.

That whole thing was a cluster**** from the start.  What should of been done is to promote a link to the charity and for those willing to donate. Not the chip in where  a few people could hold those donations raised as a shield.  Truly altruistic motives do not need a counter attached.

Poster would also not need to remind the community reaptedly about what they did and why they did it if it was for the kids.

No, not at all. There are others.

I'm not one of them, though. I envy you guys. I wish I weren't a literary critic by nature and profession; maybe I'd be content with abysmal narrative mistakes, too. :(

I think it's news.  I'll save my judgement on how good, or bad it is until I get to play.

You can't blame the charity for a lack of research on the donator's part.

I do not blame the charity.

I lay the blame at the feet of those people that were running from forum to forum posting " If you support new ME3 endings donate here" and there was a lot of that going on.
Not to mention how there was a lot of "He BioWare look at what good things we have done. Now do what we demand of you"

It should be a wake up call for all the people that yell about PR and marketing. Because they were doing it. Aware or not.

If it was truely alturistic move in should of been anonymous. It should of never been allowed to become a meter of how much more morally correct others are.

It's good news that they are at least doing something. Yet, ultimately this Extended Edition sounds like an attempt to sugar-coat something that left sour taste in many mouths.

At no point did anyone from BioWare say there was a new ending coming.

Try again

Well I can't argue with you there but alturistic or not, some things you just write off as a tax deduction and move on.

I am a tactless a hole.  Sometimes thats life. Some times you get The Sorpraneos ending. Sometimes you end up with the Star Wares prequels.

Sometimes when you allready took a bite out that **** sandwhich you just walk away. And the next time you wait for someone else to take a bite first.

I'm still waiting for someone to show me where Bio ever promised 16 endings. IGN claimed it at some point, but that's the only source I ever saw.

Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?

At first I thought  there was "Are there going to be more/different colors for the endings in the future?"

In my opinion it was a huge mistake to make ME3 approachable to newcomers who haven't played the first two game and see it as a standalone game, because it's a trilogy! You have to play the previous games, you don't watch the 2nd or last movie of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings <_<

Hopefully they fix the plotholes, but I don't think I'll like it more than as it currently is.

But after DA2 and ME3 (Ending) I've lost trust in BW.

To borrow a popular word: no-one is entitled to respect. You have to earn it, and you can lose it again.

There's no reason for anyone not be civil to each other, however.

As for the extended cut... I'll reserve judgement until it comes out, but I'm not expecting anything really satisfying at this point. Though I am quite curious how they can possibly explain this ending. It doesn't make any sense, so good luck explaining it, Bioware...

The wonders of PR. Wording paints unsatisfied fans as stupid and unreasonable people, who are still loved by Bioware and given a free gift as a sign of good will.

Whereas actually it's
1. Pittance to make people shut up
2. A strategic strike to make people who accept (1) fight with people who don't accept it
3. ...
4. PROFIT

I'm actually glad about this announcement - now I can move on for good. BioWare have officially lost another customer.
