Here we go again. This is so misleading. The news sites will trumpet the release of the ME3 EXTENDED CUT. Hey, they're fixing the bad ending! Some people that were probably on the fence will see the news and go buy the game.

However, they aren't fixing anything. There is no talk about the length and since it's free you can expect it will be short. They are only adding "additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes" which means the god-child and colors will be explained in more detail and there will be blurbs around what happened to various characters and groups.

They are putting lipstick on the pig.

so just trade in the game for something you enjoy and move on with your life.

Well, some of us do live in the real world and are aware of the fact that it has become completely impossible to "trade in" video games in the last decade.

Not in the UK it hasn't.  You take your game back to the store, and part exchange it.  You can't tell me that the majority of ME3 didn't warrant the price anyway.

I just don't see why persist with this if people are so against it.  There is plenty of other stuff to do.  Life is too short to worry about the ending to a video game lol.

Sorry, I spent 5 years of my short life on these video games, and I for one will not stop whining or being an entitled brat or holding the line until I get an ending that makes me happy.

A simple clarification is not going to be enough.

No happy ending = No more money for bioware.

Now, don´t go asking for more than we can get. I know lots of people wanted a happy ending, but I only want a coherent and logical one (and not only one, all of them!).

I know there must have been some logic in doing these endings, I mean, the people who created the universe themselves thought them up, so the only explanation for us not getting this logic is misscommunication.
I hope they´ll be able to fix it with this free content!

For free!? Am I dreaming!?

That
actually worries me a bit. This could potentially still have the
quality of your typical ME2 dlc (Kasumi, Overlord, etc), but making it
free runs the risk that the changes involved will be minimal.
Personally, I wouldn't mind throwing down alot more cash if I thought it
would give them more resources/incentive to work with.

"Alot more cash" would be relative in my case, but I do hope they do a good job and I´m actually pretty positive they will. As Ray and the others said, they love what they´ve created, so I don´t think this will just be done because they have to (or not entirely at least :D), but because they want us to appreciate it as much as they do!

And to be honest, I don´t detest the ending. I´m entirely open to the endings. It just annoys me that we don´t get more answers and it´s not 100% logical. It fails to feel like the ending to an epic trilogy. That makes me really sad.

Extra cinematics: Could be good if this is about adding a visible effect of assets in the battle for earth.

"Clarification" of starbrat thingie: hubris and writers denial of his/their failings.

Also, regarding the "price", was I the only one that noticed these 2?:

"Coming this summer, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut
will be available for download on the Xbox 360® videogame and
entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC
for no extra charge*.

"

"* OFFER EXPIRES APRIL 12, 2014."

Why is it considered different from a regular patch?

So don't download it, go away and play another game.  They aren't going to rewrite the whole of ME3 for you, and you won't settle for less so just trade in the game for something you enjoy and move on with your life.  That goes for all of the retake haters.

Yes, yes, we get it. You're satisfied by mediocrity and hate it when others aren't.

Νο there is a difference. Criticism is nice, its the reason why we are getting this and why ME3 just maybe gets a more concrete and clarifying end.

What I and a lot of others hate is people that are presenting this "clarification" as pointless, that there is no way imaginable that the ending might become much better than it was, in sort we hate people who speak before they actually SEE what Bioware has in mind for this ending.

Thats the folks I hate. How about these people take a chill pill, see the ending that Bioware has in store and then start going bananas. I will join them myself if the ending and clarification is not satisfying. But until I see it, I will not condemn it as if I have some magic ball showing the future.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

Clarification does NOTHING.

If you clarify sh*t all you will get is a REALLY clear picture of sh*t!  Sh*t with paint on it is still sh*t.

So let me get this straight.. If a guy sells you a car, and it breaks down after about an hour of driving it. You bring it back and demand to have it fixed, it takes him two to three weeks to get back to you on it and all he's done is put some fuzzy dice in your rear view mirror and given it a new slap of paint. And you wouldn't call that a pointless result?

In the end what we have here is smoke and mirrors. Basically, they've realized that all the bad PR is killing their sales, so they're pretty much claiming to fix what's wrong so anyone not in the know will go out and buy the game, thinking that the fatal flaw that so many warned of has been addressed and fixed. In other words: A lie.

I guess that takes the wind out of the sails of the Indoctrination Theory.

Does it? An extended edition? More stuff at the end.... isn't this required for Indoctrination Theory to even work? The great thing about IT is that it can still be viable without really changing very much in the game as it stands, you could even put it on at the very end with the last breath, and have it regardless of whether you go for control, destroy or synthesis.

Indoctrination Theory, done properly, doesn't destroy or impede the artistic vision that BW had for the ending, it embraces it and moves it forward, it takes a twist and twists it again.

You can say this, however it doesn't stop everybody crying that they don't have a personal victory and how that ruins their lives or something.

What the f*** is wrong with wanting a personal victory?  WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH AT LEAST HAVING THE OPTION FOR HAPPINESS?  Don't tell me it's not 'realistic' or not on par with the rest of the story.

The fact that it's free does blow my tiny little mind though.  EA, at least, got the message...or part of it.  Winning that award may have actually had an effect.  I feel like they're, "here, look, we're not so bad!  It's free!"

To an extent, but almost every criticism I've seen of the ending has been prefaced by "I love the game until the last five minutes". Given that, does it even need to be long? Unless we're going with the Indoctrination Theory, any ending fix would only require an alteration of the last 5-15 minutes, depending on how far they decide to take it.

Well, add to this the fact that the VAs haven't been called in for DLC, I guess we really are getting a shot of Quarians building houses and the Normandy crew dancing around fire.

Bull****.

Here comes the whining when people still don't get their happy ending where Shepard lives happily ever after.

For the last bloody time, people do not want a happy ending. They want an
ending that isn't riddled with plotholes and leaps of logic that would
even make Evel Knieval go "Nope, I'm not that crazy."

So what was the point of bioware asking for feedback if all they are doing is clarifying the ending?
