Why oh why.....
A good ending does not need "Clarification" it does not need an Epilogue, it needs nothing, why will they not admit that this was wrong and just start from there again ? Also how long are people going to have to wait for said clarification ? I just feel that the game died with how these things are going... there is no point nor reason to go through the motions again if nothing is changed...

Notice how they list their decorations at the bottom. That is the reason EA is so unanimously disliked. They simply must list game scores at the bottom of everything. Anyways, I bet that this "Extended Cut" Is just a couple lines of text on black background with music to it. If you see this Bioware DONT YOU F***ing do it! Put some work into it.

This is not uncommon at all in the game industry, or any industry for that matter.  Press Releases will often bring up the company's or product's accolades in the closing paragraph(s).

Reading more: It's the "closure" they were promising in epilogue form.

Anyone wanna bet it'll be the epilogue format of Dragon Age?

Haha! Coming this summer, Offer expires April 12. Very funny.

Edit to add I think this is a very convincing fake.

April 12, 2014....could still be fake but not for the April 12 bit.

Well... It's free and all, so I'll give it a try when it happens. Still... Extending the actual ending does sound like everything after Harbinger's beam will remain canon... Good for the Anderson and TIM scenes... Bad for all spacekid, colors, scenes... And that, is a bad idea and will make many, many people wary of any other BioWare title, or simply disengage themselves from the fandom altogether.

There now, see. EA isn't quite the evil overlords people like to make them out to be.

Obviously we don't know what is in the extended cut. It may still not be satisfying but they aren't charging you for the end of the game DLC as some had feared.

We paid for the game and still get screwed, what makes you think free stuff is a good sign <_< I reserve my judgement after so much disappointment, we'll see when its out.

Guys stop mentioning it's free as if it's a good thing.

This is EA. If it's free, it's probably going to be two things:

1) Extremely short
2) Poorly done

It's not even free forever, the offer expires in April of 2014.

Its free for a frakin year. Anyone who wants it will get it by then.

The negativity many treat this with is disheartening.

As bad as the ending is BioWare are addressing it, not just with clarity and closure but also PERSONALIZATION aka showing the results of your choices.

It is also FREE.

This is a much better result than I expected. Of course it doesn't address everything (thematic disconnect, bad storytelling) and remains to be seen how good it will end up being, but outright negativity is not the way to recieve this announcement.

Ah well, the indoctrination theory was fun when it lasted. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to this, but at least they are trying.

Why do you think it wont confirm indoc theory? Show a cutscene of shepard waking up holding his head, and then go activate crucible and blow the reapers out?

Because of the time delay.  I could barely manage to percieve of a delay of a month for an indoctrination theory ending, but longer than that shows that it obviously wasn't planned at all.

Better than nothing. I'll take it. And I'll reserve judgement until I see what it actually adds and clarifies.

"further clarity" doesn't necessarily mean option 4 where you can tell the star kid where he can shove his circular logic. I'm not getting my hopes up for this, especially with how dead set bioware seems to be on blowing up the entire relay network while simultaneously pretending that those explosions will no longer nuke the entire galaxy while they're at it.

Prove me wrong bioware, please.

It seems that the we are beyond BioWare's comprehension. They did not understand one freaking thing from all our effort to tell them that the ending sucks, no matter how much they extend it and try to clarify it. The donation to C'sP, the cupcakes, the great, constructive walls of texts detailing the numerous game-ruining plotholes and possible ways of retcon, the Indoctrination Theory... all for noth... this. Extended Cut with more cutscenes.

Congratulations, BioWare!

^ THIS! All for nothing.

Yep, uninstalling ME3 right now. It's over.

YES!!!!!!! LEAVE THIS PLACE AND NEVER COME BACK

You could also leave while you are at it now when you don't have anyone to bounce your posts off. Getting all your selfworth from disagreeing with retakers is a pretty poor excuse for a life. And as to not make the same mistake I will not repsond further to you at any point.

Fair play. The fact Casey says it will be a more personalised affair coupled with the fact that it's not going to be released until summer to me is a good thing, I imagine it will be a reasonable size. It also has it's own "title" per se, rather than just an update.

This is great news as far as i'm concerned.

I'm just more disappointed now. An epilogue or more cinematic scenes won't change the fact that ME3 ending (yeah, in singular) sucks, doesn't make any sense and it's definitely not what Bioware promised. At least it's free? Brff... I'm pissed off if this is true.

I... uh... wha... what? Oh. This is... surprising. I wonder what'll be in it. Hopefully rachni. And I'm hoping also elcor with shoulder-mounted guns.

"context and clarity to the ending"
Here's hoping it's not an info' dump.

They're going to try and fix it.
It's going to be free.

Those were the first two check-boxes on my list, so I'll abstain from the feces-flinging until I see what they come up with.

NOTE: I'm not convinced this automatically rules out I.T. -- though the fact that post-indoc events would not be playable would be an odd choice. Just as a hypothetical -- what if the cinematics are the outcomes of the actual battle -- Red sees that epic battle that reflects the choices you made that we've all been clamoring for; Blue and Green get to watch Garrus put a bullet in your head and finish the mission himself (Has to be Garrus... if I'm going to get put down by one of my teammates, I sure as hell don't want Vega to have the honor. And Ash would be all like "I told you we couldn't trust him"... sigh.)

If you have to explain an ending to a story that has spanned 200 + hours of play time then you have missed the mark on your ending of the story, clarifying your bizarre attempt at this obscure ending is justifying your failure

You did not have to explain ME1 / ME2 or your other titles did you?

The ending is a complete 360 from the story that was delivered to your customer base from out of now are and lacks a coherent tie into the rest of the story; all the explaining in the world can’t change the Round Peg you put into the Square Hole, the endings don’t fit what you had built up to in the past 2 games.

Trash the end make one that fits and release that this summer.

Byw BW

...um 360 means its the same no? maybe a 180 instead?:bandit:

"You're getting more of our amazing starchild vision. We're adding some dialogue-free cutscenes and text walls to explain how right our plothole-filled mess is. It's free because we're not really doing much and we're not changing anything in-game, but it's going to take us until "sometime in Summer" because goodwill is more valuable than the further disappointment you'll have when you realize this is all you're getting. Until then, we're going to make it sound awesome so maybe you guys will be relieved enough that our Aria DLC won't be take too big of a hit in sales."
