A free "extended cut" cinematic at the end is a nice gesture, and I'll give that much to EA/BioWare, but that's it. I'm sorry, but it will still be an A,B,C ending where choice doesnt matter. Unless there will be multiple extra scenes for each ending depending on choices throughout the series. Maybe red ending will actually have Geth live if you brokered peace or sided with them, but they die if you didnt.

Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?
No.
BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of
this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand
on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.
[/list]

So your "artistic vision" was to end a masterpiece of a series that prides itself on choice, make my choices in the game not matter?

Mass Effect 3 Ending: A 5-minute Fix. As we join our heroes, Anderson had just said "quite the view". The crucible activates, and the tide of the battle turns. Now, the story branches here, based on player choice.

Either Shepard bleeds out, or a medical team rushes into the Citadel and keeps him alive until he can get to a hospital. Shep, crew, love interest, Admiral Hackett, and surviving Council members all reunite for a celebration.

Hackett and Shepard get a galactic equvialent of the Congressional Medal of Honor for their hard work, as does Anderson, posthumously.

Wrex leads the krogan into a new age of glory and happiness, geth & quarians live in peace on Rannoch, etc.

Shepard retires with love interest and friends. The end. That wasn't so hard, was it? Oh and I'd prefer if he/she marries the love interest too, but if not, then my imagination is fine.

^ See, why couldn't Bioware write that?  I whipped that up in 5 minutes flat.

This... is a masterpiece!
Seriously, I can't understand how they blew the ending so bad, considering the starting point they had.

great.. I have no problem with this and shep dying too .... just no f*cking starchild or the three magic cupcakes!!! It makes a mockery of the whole series.

Bioware, you have created a incredible universe, WTF are you thinking now? Would what you doing make sense in StarTrek for example, of course not???
Please Bioware staff...
call a staff meeting.....air your opinions!!!! I sincerely cannot believe that any
person of reasonable intelligence can prescribe to the starchild BS!!!

This announcement isn't really a surprise. Too bad, I really appreciated Bioware; apparently more than they appreciated me. To paraphrase..I guess Bioware just isn't that into me. Time for this toxic relationship to end. Best wishes.

Ha Ha! Toxic relationship is the PERFECT way to put it. They abuse us, but we just keep coming back because "we love them".  Well done.

How good this is will define whether I buy the later DLC.

In short, this is Bioware on life-support to me. If they bulls this up, as they have the ending on ME3, then its game over, and byebye. An extended ending is not what we've been after, as the ending we have already isnt an ending to begin with.

If Bioware, EA or whatever other games developers want to start of about artistic integrity then they should pickup a Paintpalet and a brush and make a painting and quit the gaming industry, or atleast cease making games where multiple choice is a prime feature of your game.

But what about in the future? Other species will create AI's that rebel and then the creators will attack, and what if there's no Shepard to broker peace? WAR! Basically, you're using a three year period of history as somehow being indicative that you're right, when Mass Effect is about events happening over large periods of time, and that's why I think you're wrong, because your taking a narrow perspective on it.

But how do we know it has to be that way.
Everything the game has been telling us is that this is a war built out of ignorance and that given the chance both parties could work together. That at its core this conflict is no different than that between organics. Everything we the player have seen is somewhat in conflict with this idea that this is solely a organic vs synthetics thing.
If they wanted us to actually believe the kid was right, they should have differentiated the conflict from regular conflict. What makes the Rachni genocide or the Krogan genophage less bad than the Geth-Quarian wars? They can't spring an inevetability on us that runs counter to the rest of the narrative you experienced and than say: He knows better so accept it. That's bad writing.

your forgetting that the geth hadn't been seen outside the vail in 300 years before ME1, if they had any intention of destroying all organics they ould have tried it years before ME1

That was befor the Thanix cannons, i`m more suprised that we didn`t see the Normandy tear a reaper apart and half the Turian fleet a few dozen with ease

This thread http://social.biowar...index/4440376/1

will explain it. The Reapers have huge mass effect shields. They built mass effect technology, they're best situated to know how to protect themselves from it, especially seeing as how they're making the technology available to other species during the cycles in order to guide them down paths. It makes sense for them to be able to protect themselves from that. They have the most powerful shields because they have the biggest mass effect cores around. It's kind of obvious, isn't it?

Reaper weapons were differen't to weapons created by the organic races.
Reaper weapons were designed to cut through shields like butter.
Reaper shields were designed to stop the fire from standard weapons, they weren't designed to stop weapons fire from their own weapons.

From the codex:

Codex wrote... The Thanix's core is a liquid alloy of iron, uranium, and tungsten suspended in an electromagnetic field powered by element zero. The molten metal, accelerated to a significant fraction of the speed of light, solidifies into a projectile as it is fired, hitting targets with enough force to pierce any known shield or armor.

Again, the Reapers would never have thought it necessary to protect themselves from their own weapons, as no race was ever meant to have that tech.

Lipstick on a pig?

I'll wait and play it, but I don't expect it to be fulfilling and I don't expect to be spending any more money on Bioware. Hope I'm wrong though.

If ME3 extended cut is going to do anything it better say Shepard was indoctrinated because it will just be an extended plot hole session otherwise.

Also will it take into account the Shepard lives ending? If I see him take that breath then I also expecti to him with little blue children too!

As said before, hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. I'm glad it's free, but this is still pretty disappointing.

This is how they conclude Shepards story? This!? I'm done :| Not impressed at all. SWTOR is being canceled as we speak. Why does it even take so long to release an extended cut scene or two?

My Mass Effect disks are going on the shelf to gather dust along with my SWTOR disks. Time to pull out Fable 2 and 3 for a replay while I wait for Diablo 3.

Good Luck all. It's been fun running through theories and everything with you.

Well I might give ME 3 Single Player one more whirl once they release this but I am still disappointed on their response to their own slob of mess. I have no hope for this fix to be any better than what we got now. I will give it a shot but if it turns out to be even more of a disappointment than it should then I will have to say goodbye BioWare and move on to other titles.

If the Indoctrination Theory turns out to be completely false, and not even remotely truth then I doubt I will ever do a replay of ME3... Sigh... I believe that we have lost fellow gamers... Where has the Golden Age of Bioware gone? Where are the KOTOR days when stories actually made sense? I am very very sad...

As long as BioWare also writes the Dark Energy plot back in as well then I'll be happy. Karpyshyn's plot-line regarding the Reapers and Dark Energy made a lot more sense since it was ALWAYS hinted at in the first two games (remember Haestrum). And the Dark Energy crisis was an ORIGINAL idea that we have never seen before.  The machine vs organic crap that we got spoonfed by the starchild was cliched, overused and made zero sense.

This was never quoetd in ME1, was it? No one ever presents proof from ME1 when they mention this ,they say "IT WAS IN ME1/ME2, REMMEBER HAESTRUM?". Or was Haestrum in the ME1 codex?

Haestrum is indeed ME2 onry. And the Dark Energy ending 'We must wipe out all humanity to save the universe from these Dark Energy Crises that happen once every 50,000 years because people keep using these Mass Relays we just happened to keep lying around' is just mindblowingly awful. Offer up the sacrifice on the bloody altar of an entire species to make the space Apocalypse go away for another 50,000 years? Its Fatal Frame... IN SPACE! Why didn't they just... y'know. Destroy the relays that are causing it? Owait.

And I do not, under any circumstances want a happy, everything wrapped up in a bow with flowers and Star Wars Award Ceremony epilogue. War, Sacrifice and Survival do not usually end with all things well and happy, or would folks prefer the ending of Saving Private Ryan to changed as well so that the entire squad ends up back in the US for medals and champagne?

Bioware speak of artistic integrity... but the games they are making at the moment are rushed imitations of what they think a mass audience would subscribe too... real artistic. I can see how the integrity of your product is important to you.

What a f*cking joke...
