so the universe is still screwed no matter what we do? >_<

Indeed.  But now we get the gory details!  :wizard:

But seriously though, big failure of an ending.

So, can finally put ME3 on the shelf for good.

An extra 5 minutes of cutscenes aint gonna fix the massive plotholes in established lore.

If you think about it, in ME2 we only got 2 choices. Blow up the Collectors base, or give it to TIM.

While the Starchild has its problems and plot-holes, Mass Effect as an entirety does, and requires a deeper level of thinking to understand it (refer to this: http://social.biowar...ndex/10761785/1 and http://social.biowar...ndex/10592397/1 they're both a bloody good read).

The 3-Colour-Choice at the end should, as I realize now, have been expected.

However, what made ME2's ending memorable was the time you spent on the rest of the game determined what happened to your squad in the suicide mission, and the best ending through maximizing the game was achieved, while the worst if you ploughed through it (even going as far as Shepard dying *again* if you did).

I *hope* this Extended Cut will give us something similar to ME2's setup. Maybe, as I'm sure that has already been mentioned, EDI and the Geth surviving the Destroy ending if you pushed EDI to get into a relationship with Joker and if you brokered peace between the Quarian's and the Geth, for example. And your War Assets, affecting how easily the Galaxy gets back on its feet after the destruction/deactivation of the Mass Relays, etc.

If we get that, then I will be the happiest bunny on the planet and finally commend BioWare on their artistic ending, regardless of how they decide to present it. Though cut-scene's will be absolutely epic sauce.

If not, then I add Mass Effect to my "sad collection" beside the Silent Hill franchise and hope BioShock Infinite is doesn't follow ME's trend.

(Edit: I should mention, I'm a PS3'er, so no ME1 for me, aside from the awesome interactive comic. My opinion on the above could be entirely ignorant, as I've never seen the ending of ME1 in the hopes of one day being able to have a computer that doesn't wheeze and sputter to a stop at the mere mention of installing a game. Although, I still feel my opinion stands, sicne ME3 follows from ME2 in terms of what I expect ending wise.)

And I'll ask again; if I were to put the necessary work into my character and make the right choices why the hell shouldn't I be able to achieve a "perfect" happy ending for my character and their comrades?

I believe this way, you may not. I think if you win without any casualties, then that win was easy. IF people close to Shepard die, but he/she still pulls through and defeats the Reapers, it reflects better on him as a character.

Then you should be able to achieve that ending. I, on the other hand, want my Shepard and all her friends to survive. Then lots of little blue children.

They can try that, there will still be plenty of people there demanding answers. They gave us this treat to keep us quiet for tomorrow, bastards.

"So there you have it. Are we proud of the game we made and the team that made it? Hell yes."

Are we proud that we have made an ending that 90% of our fan community hates? Hell yes!

I cannot even begin to describe my disappointment.

Just kinda curious now how they're going to try to polish this turd. Guess I'll give it a shot for curiosity's sake.

I will at least WAIT and play it before...hating on it...........and I know people will hate me for this....We knew since the second game that they were going to make more after ME3..........how do you do this if there are 50 endings? They have to choose ONE right one..so in the end your choices either way wont make a difference since the next game in the universe may have been shaped differently from your choices anyway

What the hell are they going to talk about then? Are they insane?

My god Bioware is just stupid now. No one cares about anything but this. They might as well just close the booth now.

Did EA...

Did EA give them all brain surgery?

Irony is that 99% of the game was written by a team of writers...and the same 99% was golden.

1% of the game was written by Walters alone - literally secluded from the rest of the team - and the same 1% sucked.

Further ironic (and derisive) is that someone who wasn't even part of Mass Effect's inception was allowed to singularly pen the ending to the narrative. What project head thought that was a good idea?

Why don't you listen to us BioWare? +60k people asking for a new ending and all you do is hide behind genocide and nihilism and call it art.

Then again Hitler was once an artist. Touche' BioWare.

I suppose this is about the best we could hope for; anyone expecting them to completely change the story wasn't being realistic. Whether or not this is any good will depend on how much variation there is based on your choices in the game, I suppose. At least they made it free, which I didn't expect, so kudos to Bioware for that.

Looks to me very much like the treat is going to fail.

Both a fail and a victory, for me clarification is BS,like they're saying you weren't intelligent enough to understand what we meant with this incredible ending...or as Cartman would say "respect my artistic integrity!" that being said if they will at least say what happened to EVERY crew member, the relays and the universe and fleet,I might feel better about it,all we can do now is hope and see.

Yeah they could've pulled this before but not now, their fanbase is sick of their BS. Nervous however, I think something bad is going to happen at PAX. I'm pissed but I don't condone that.

funny thing is: They want to make PrequelsImage IPB

I'm glad I gave my PAX ticket to a friend. There's not a whole lot of point in attending now.

Omega DLC! DA3!

Meh. No thanks.

I got all excited and emotional a couple of minutes ago, but I'm not breaking formation from the line until we see what's up.

Also, "offer available until April 12"? What the hell does that mean? If anybody buys the game after that date, they have to pay for closure DLC? Seriously?
