I love how so many people on this forum jump to extreme conclusions. Seriously, can't some of you just accept that they are expanding on the ending (they didn't have to) and are trying to appease most folks who are angry (again, didn't have to)??
How about you wait and see what this thing is going to look like before the hate fest. My god I hope you don't act this way in person!
They do have to if they expect to stay in business.

I'm also happy they hear the fans and admit they have to add more closure and clarity to the end of the saga.

I am really unsure about this solution :/
But well, let's just wait and see. And for all we know, this theory about that the last part being a dream could still be true, i'm not talking about indoctrination, but just a simple dream/vision/hallucination since they say they didnt change the ending at all.
And about that part where Shepard wakes up in rubble.. well, that could just be a hint for a fourth game in the series, maybe a beginning of a new triology about Reapers still trying to conquer everything. Think about it like in Terminator 3. Everything ends, and there is still a small resistance.
But yeah, who knows, this is just some wild guesses I have.
I mean, we thought we would destroy the reapers in this game, one by one, we wanted to annihilate every single one of them, and not just watch ships shoot at them, and maybe we get to do that, more like a long war against reapers.
We all know something is up since we get hints after hints, and Bioware wants us to "hold on to the game forever" etc etc.
But as I wrote before, some of my wild guesses, everything could also be wrong
Of course they'll say stuff like "If you knew what we had planned you'd hold onto your copy of Mass Effect 3 forever" they want us to buy DLC. Considering that everything they told us up to the release date was utter bulls*** I can't believe you'd be willing to jump onboard so quickly.
Yes, you have a point, and I was not saying that I am jumping onboard that train, I'm just saying that, I like to keep the little hope there is left, for a game we all here love/loved so damn much.

If the endings still include nonsensical synthesis space magic, I'm done. They can keep their "artistic integrity." In return, I'll keep my "would have been spent on ME3 DLC" money.

Yes. Keeping it after we've made it clear we hate it is pretty god awful. Expecting us to like crap we didn't like a few months before just because they polished it up and added more crap to it is just insulting. We wanted something drastically different to this.. we wanted what we were promised.

"THIS IS MY ART AND I'M GONNA KEEP IT."
You guys see this wrong, the ending isn't bad writing or a problem with a misunderstood artistic vision, it's the other 150+ hours of the game that is badly written.

People seem to be drawing a ton of conclusions from an intentionally vague press release and even more vague "blog post." If we're being honest with ourselves, we don't know what will or will not be in the "Extended Cut" yet, so why pass judgement before finding out something more about what we're getting.
Apparently because on the BSN, when an angry, irrational mob arises, all logic and sense go out the window for
If this DLC does away with the multiplayer misunderstanding at the crux of my dissatisfaction, I will re-evaluate. I will take you at your word that you can find something "irrational" about that approach, though I remain dubious.
Are we really "being honest with ourselves" when "we" imply that we've been given no reason to believe that the aforementioned multiplayer gaffe has not been solved with the DLC or in fact actually rejected as an issue requiring a solution?

I thought the dark energy plot wasn't related to the relays, but had to do with reaping civilizations to "ward off" the dark energy. I assumed this was done in combat in some way? Even if that isn't what Karpyshyn wanted, I truly believe that what I just said is a brilliant idea. They have been harvesting us all this time, due to a snow-ball effect that was started by the first "reaping", and they are hoping that eventually that snowball will be so large that they can stop the dark energy. Supposedly humans are the key that would end it for good (no matter how big the "snowball" is currently). Thus, the reason for a human reaper.AkeasharK wrote...

As long as BioWare also writes the Dark Energy plot back in as well then I'll be happy. Karpyshyn's plot-line regarding the Reapers and Dark Energy made a lot more sense since it was ALWAYS hinted at in the first two games (remember Haestrum). And the Dark Energy crisis was an ORIGINAL idea that we have never seen before. The machine vs organic crap that we got spoonfed by the starchild was cliched, overused and made zero sense.
This was never quoetd in ME1, was it? No one ever presents proof from ME1 when they mention this ,they say "IT WAS IN ME1/ME2, REMMEBER HAESTRUM?". Or was Haestrum in the ME1 codex?
Haestrum is indeed ME2 onry. And the Dark Energy ending 'We must wipe out all humanity to save the universe from these Dark Energy Crises that happen once every 50,000 years because people keep using these Mass Relays we just happened to keep lying around' is just mindblowingly awful. Offer up the sacrifice on the bloody altar of an entire species to make the space Apocalypse go away for another 50,000 years? Its Fatal Frame... IN SPACE! Why didn't they just... y'know. Destroy the relays that are causing it? Owait.
And I do not, under any circumstances want a happy, everything wrapped up in a bow with flowers and Star Wars Award Ceremony epilogue. War, Sacrifice and Survival do not usually end with all things well and happy, or would folks prefer the ending of Saving Private Ryan to changed as well so that the entire squad ends up back in the US for medals and champagne?

You have a point. But then again you never know
I actually feel a bit of pity for BioWare right now. Seems like whatever they try to do at this point it just backfires.
I mean, at least they are trying. The fact that they even announced this explanation DLC proves that they've acknowledged that the endings wasn't so "epic" and "awsome" as they first thought.
Though I will probably wonder for the rest of my life how they possibly could think that this was a good way to end the series
I don't see how a explanation DLC can improve upon the current ending. We still have spacebrat and RGB fireworks. And as long as those are still a part of the ending, it can never be a good ending.
But since they want to torch the franchise I guess they have to come up with something to end it all. Personally I think it would have been better to just let the Reapers wipe out the galaxy though.
But, as I said, they are at least trying.
I'll just calm down for now and wait to see what they have in store. Albeit with a fair amount of scepticism

https://twitter.com/...042687893610496don't worry. All that is in the works@GambleMike Not gonna lie, we do appreciate the effort. Still kind of worried that Meer/Hale have said they weren't contacted for VA yet...
https://twitter.com/...045946754564096no. It won't just be a 'few cinematics'@GambleMike so from the press release I'm understanding all the dlc will be is a few cinematics? Thats not what most wanted....
@CoPilotRogerM you heard wrong.@GambleMike easier than fixing what's really broke. I hear you're not even including voice actors??? How will this take months?
Especially the one about Extended Cut not being "just a few cinematics" makes me excited
Oh, don't post anything that might impugn on the massive pity/anger party going on here. If people can't complain about Bioware whatever will they do?
