Perhaps it's a cutscene that you only get with the 'last gasp' ending in which you wake up on the battlefield after the gasp, make a push to the beam, make it to the Citadel, fire up the crucible and everything still blows up including the Citadel with Shepard on it. Then cue the epilogue. No star child this time. If it wasn't going to playable, I might be able to live with that.

Thank the Goddess. Please let it be indoctrination theory.

You have to be kidding.  It is just added epilogues and cutscenes.  As I have said five million times before.  IT is, and always has been, absolute BS.  They aren't changing the endings.

It's amazing.  You would have thought Ray's blog post would have been enough to put IT to bed when he outright said these are the endings.  Now you have a release saying they will add some videos and epilogues (no gameplay) which should finally put this IT crap to bed and people still cling to it?  Unreal.

Anyone who really thought they would patch the game and actually change the ending was kidding themselves.

I'll reserve judgement and see what this is about. What interests me is that they're clarifying the ending - which to me personally, still sits the ending in Shepard's mind.

Imagine if they screw it up even more.

I think you mean when.

By the way,  can we all agree that bioware is the most hubristic dev in existence? They can't even throw their fans the smallest bone with out being condesending and writing them off as a small minority, and talking about their "artistic vision". I feel like I need a shower after reading that. This seals it, ME3 is the last bioware product I buy.

A delay is good. A delay means some thought and effort will go into this. Summer's a big window, and five months development is a lot more than two.

Or a delay means they want to keep us guessing since the only reason a lot of people are still hanging around is because they think the issue might be resolved to their satisfaction. They still have DLC to sell us, y'know.

The negativity many treat this with is disheartening.

As bad as the ending is BioWare are addressing it, not just with clarity and closure but also PERSONALIZATION aka showing the results of your choices.

It is also FREE.

This is a much better result than I expected. Of course it doesn't address everything (thematic disconnect, bad storytelling) and remains to be seen how good it will end up being, but outright negativity is not the way to recieve this announcement.

Completely agree with you here.
One would've expected an announcement like this to be received with more joy (or at least a cautious happiness).
This is a great thing. We should be supporting Bioware while leaving helpful comments to aid them in making this new content.

Those endings do need more cinematics to make some sense, but they'd benefit from an overall overhaul-I'd like to never ever see the 'Starchild' ever again!Posted Image But still, this is very good news!!Posted Image

Curious to see what they say at PAX and  hopefully getting a date fo this; not expecting much from EA, got to admit-I do not trust them at all-but we will wait and see. I still have faith in Bioware and hoping they'll finally fix this in a good way!!

And hold the line, don't give up!Posted Image

Goddamn a lot of you guys are ungrateful little sh*ts.

We are lucky we are even getting extended ending anything. It's stupid for someone to completely change a part of the story because it ruins the artistic integrity, even though the art doesn't make much sense. A majority of the ending dissenters sought closure, not retcon, and that's what we will be getting. It's better than nothing, and we should have expected to have had this type of DLC coming, not a retcon DLC.

To quote Jack, "Get your balls out of your purse."

"You're getting more of our amazing starchild vision. We're adding some dialogue-free cutscenes and text walls to explain how right our plothole-filled mess is. It's free because we're not really doing much and we're not changing anything in-game, but it's going to take us until "sometime in Summer" because goodwill is more valuable than the further disappointment you'll have when you realize this is all you're getting. Until then, we're going to make it sound awesome so maybe you guys will be relieved enough that our Aria DLC won't be take too big of a hit in sales."

This is a cheap way to show the customers, and do PR releases about how customer centric they are, that they will do something but reality is, they wont invest the time and $$ it would take to rip out the POS ending that they have put in

If they said they were re working the ending due to the repose of customers, but it will cost $10 most of us would pay for that

Sad

"Clarification". 'nuff said. I got the feeling Bioware wasn't checking the forums at all...

The only thing giving me hope is them saying "summer". At least they're going to put some effort into it.

So i assume endings stay as they are? No new options?Shep dies, mass relays explodes, normandy is stranded? Everyone on Citadel dies? Reaper's logic still the same?

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts Inc. announced Mass Effect™ 3: Extended Cut, a downloadable content pack that will expand upon the events at the end of the critically acclaimed Action RPG. Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes. Coming this summer, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will be available for download on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC for no extra charge*.

“We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager of EA’s BioWare Label. “Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.”

Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, “We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.”

The Mass Effect franchise is one of the most highly decorated series in the history of games, having earned over 250 awards from critics around the world. Mass Effect 3 launched last month to universal critical acclaim, receiving over 75 perfect scores. For more information on Mass Effect 3, please visit http://masseffect.com, follow the game on Twitter at http://twitter.com/masseffect or “like” the game on Facebook at http://facebook.com/masseffect. Press assets for Mass Effect 3 are available at www.info.ea.com.

So some interesting nuggets in here.

Re-prioritize, 30 days after launch?

To have this content ready they either had it already or were pulling 10+ hour days since launch to manufacturer this content from scratch.

Wait a minute. it takes about 1-2 weeks to get throuigh the PS3 and Xbox live Certification process. So depending on when it passes both of these. The timing seems odd.
