'this summer' isn't exactly a short timeframe either.

cinematics don't take that long unless they're going for the full CGI thing. That would be a nice touch, but it would be an un-necessary delay imo. The game's engine is more than capable unless they're planning something big

*snip*!

you win 100+ internetz.

And people, STOP COMPLAINING! You're getting FREE DLC that offers CLARITY and CLOSURE. If you're not happy with that and still complain, then you are being the entitled whiners that half the gaming community thinks you are.

It's funny how the pro enders or anit retakers are the ones acting like children in this thread. Calling names and being rude. It just shows me that I'm on the right side with the clear thinkers and thoughtful posts of those who disliked the endings. Good show!

The negativity many treat this with is disheartening.

As bad as the ending is BioWare are addressing it, not just with clarity and closure but also PERSONALIZATION aka showing the results of your choices.

It is also FREE.

This is a much better result than I expected. Of course it doesn't address everything (thematic disconnect, bad storytelling) and remains to be seen how good it will end up being, but outright negativity is not the way to recieve this announcement.

Completely agree with you here.
One would've expected an announcement like this to be received with more joy (or at least a cautious happiness).
This is a great thing. We should be supporting Bioware while leaving helpful comments to aid them in making this new content.

Why? They've ****ed us three times in two years, lied constantly, and now, they're throwing us an incredibly small bone, and expecting everything to be fine while still, STILL, saying we're a minority.

I'm so tired of this.

I'll reserve my judgement... for now.

Like what was said before, it is better than nothing. (unless this just adds more speculation/questions)

So are we thinking it's just gonna be cinematics? No game play included?

I see a lot of people saying, "ALRIGHT, END OF INDOCTRINATION THEORY!"

...but is it? I mean, couldn't they do 3 "extended cuts" of whether or not you trumped Indoctrination?

Anyone else curious what happens when this "expires"? Will they start charging people for it, or what?

"OFFER EXPIRES APRIL 12, 2014"

MIght be another clue when the Next-gen consoles are supposed to launch :bandit:

No, this is standard procedure for EA online content. They don't promise their servers will be up forever.

Before everyone starts saying this is going to be piddly in size in comparison to standard DLC add-ons, I imagine if you just played through the extended scenes on their own it would be. Add them in to the mix and replay the 3rd game as a whole though and I think that is where you'll see the benefit.

People are forgetting what we fought for.

If there are ONLY cutscenes, that means we STILL have just THREE choices (Red, Blue, Green). We still have the SAME dialogue options (none). Our choices STILL don't matter.

THAT WAS A MAJOR POINT of the fight and Bioware dicked up again by just adding more movie scenes.

It sounds like they'll just readd the cut dialogue and scenes and paste them in.

I'll wait.

The only way they can clarify/extend the endings (based on what we've seen) is if the current ending was a dream/hallucination (i.e. in Shepard's head). That's it.

WHO CARES IF ITS FREE. Starbrat still exists. Your crew still leaves you. There are still 3 different colored explosions. All the clarifying in the world can't save this rubbish.

Agreed! They haven't passified me at all.

If they add some cutscenes explaining how Normandy crew chickens out and runs away I don't think it'll make it much better, yeah.

And starchild: "well you know, this explosions are good explosions, they will not go supernova. Well of course, everyone will still be stranded in the Sol system and most of them will die. Oh, and now you can ask more questions about how I control the synthetics so they can kill organics, so organics won't be killed by synthetics"

And if they will leave relays intact in some of the colored endings, I have a very strong suspicion that it'll be either Shep's life or relays choice.

I really really hope for the best, but I think I'll prefer to stay pessimistic so my hopes won't be crushed again.

I don't want an Extended Edition. Adding content to the end of the game only compounds the errors.

The game did not need clarity or explanation. It needed the stupid crap cut out.

We needed a Mass Effect 3 : Reduced Edition. Where there is less ending than what we have now.

So i assume endings stay as they are? No new options?Shep dies, mass relays explodes, normandy is stranded? Everyone on Citadel dies? Reaper's logic still the same?

Clarity. Closure. Yucks.

I'm gonna take a gamble and take this DLC in good faith, because it's free. I have the same concerns though. But I'll give it a shot, will have to play through ME1 and 2 again with a new Shep, old one's ruined. And if I then find this Extended Cut DLC wanting, well... bye bye EA/Bioware.

Judging solely from the description of the press release, it sounds like BioWare solicited everyone's complaints and critiques regarding the ending and then promptly ignored most of them and did what they wanted to do. This is like pouring more soup into the bowl rather than doing the smart thing and just taking out the fly.

Unless they can somehow "clarify" into the game varying tones to the ending then thanks but no thanks. It was especially irritating that after all my hard work my Shepard still had to die in two out of the three endings and the survival ending seemed to have been arbitrarily picked out of the three.

Excellent analogy.

Explaining a bad thing does not make it good, how about an ending that the consumer watches and we all say, oh I get it

the fact they need to expline it is a failure on thier behalf, it was a disaster and teh ending needs to be ripped out or create an alternate path ending to avoide teh star child, remove that this completly it b ebetter and make more sense.
