Also, "this summer" means that they'll really do somethng, not just add some text. I think EA/Bioware finally realized that they don't want the ME Setting to die like that.
Also, it is free. Kudos to EA, despite being called the worst American company (Which it isn't of course, in all seriousness...).

Still dread the feeling that Star Brat will still exist.

Considering it's still months until release, it's probably going to be pretty expansive. I'm really happy they're making it "personalized for each player". That hopefully means unique epilogue scenes depending on your love interest and the decisions you made throughout the series, which is exactly what I wanted.

Glad they listened to the fans and made it free though.

So vent brat with his color coded ending stays? Well, OK.
Thanks, Bioware!
/sarcasm
Most people issue's with the ending were
- There complete narrative disconnect
- The failure of the entire earth level to live up to expectations
- the inseration of a random new protagonist
- lack of information presented before their shepard made his choice
- essientially being a reaper off button +plot holes galore
- introducing a new theme, in the 11th hour, that was almost counter to the themes we'd lived through in the first 2.9 games

The negativity many treat this with is disheartening.
As bad as the ending is BioWare are addressing it, not just with clarity and closure but also PERSONALIZATION aka showing the results of your choices.
It is also FREE.
This is a much better result than I expected. Of course it doesn't address everything (thematic disconnect, bad storytelling) and remains to be seen how good it will end up being, but outright negativity is not the way to recieve this announcement.
This!

Thank the Goddess. Please let it be indoctrination theory.
You have to be kidding. It is just added epilogues and cutscenes. As I have said five million times before. IT is, and always has been, absolute BS. They aren't changing the endings.
It's amazing. You would have thought Ray's blog post would have been enough to put IT to bed when he outright said these are the endings. Now you have a release saying they will add some videos and epilogues (no gameplay) which should finally put this IT crap to bed and people still cling to it? Unreal.
I also think IT isn't true, but this information in no way disproves it. BioWare is being very vague, possibly intentionally so. They say they're
not changing the endings, they're adding clarification. That's so vague
it could be anything.
For example, they could simply say that we don't understand the ending,
because we haven't seen the whole thing. The "clarification" would then
reveal that Goku stopped the Reapers while Shepard was unconscious, and
everything after that point was just a dream. They didn't directly
contradict the previous ending, and they added clarification, so
technically, they didn't lie. Even though we now have an ending where
Goku saves the day.
Obviously I'm being facetious. My point though, is that due to the vague
wording, they can change anything they feel like without actually
changing anything. This means nothing is off the table, and nothing is
any different than it was before the announcement, except we know it
will be coming in summer.

They will release some kind of happy ending crap to shut people up and thats it
I doubt this to be true since the whole issue had nothing (or very little) to do with having a happy ending.

I'm with Justin Clouse of The Escapist on the matter. The endings are not just bad but broken. Based on this statement from EA I can't see this extended cut changing this.
So will probably download and see what it is exactly, but the view of my Mass Effect experience is likely to remain the same: Brilliant moments forever to be marred by '...but that ending.'

Age has nothing to do with maturity.
There is a casual link. Just not a correlation. I, however, was quite a mature 12 year old. I'd gone through a lot by the time I'd reached 12.

my guess is they'll remove it from servers completly. They're still charging full-rate for 2 year old DLC for ME2, this being a money looser, I can't expect they'll let it soakup bandwidth forever. The people that want it will download it almost immediatly, any likely populate the dlc on 100s of private servers for anyone else.Anyone else curious what happens when this "expires"? Will they start charging people for it, or what?
"OFFER EXPIRES APRIL 12, 2014"
Besides the fact that this is supposed to be the EOL for the series. 2 years from now the brand will be dead on some $9.99 isle at gamestop.

I see a lot of people saying, "ALRIGHT, END OF INDOCTRINATION THEORY!"
...but is it? I mean, couldn't they do 3 "extended cuts" of whether or not you trumped Indoctrination?
Do you know what cinematics means? They are just adding cutscenes and epilogues. No gameplay. No IT. There never was any indoctrination.
