OFFICIAL: EA announces Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC (FREE!)

Our final saves after the end of the game end prior to hitting Cerberus.
So we have to replay it, and redo Marauder Shields, and re-experience lurch-Shepard, and re-listen to the Kid.

Thank the Goddess. Please let it be indoctrination theory.
You have to be kidding. It is just added epilogues and cutscenes. As I have said five million times before. IT is, and always has been, absolute BS. They aren't changing the endings.
It's amazing. You would have thought Ray's blog post would have been enough to put IT to bed when he outright said these are the endings. Now you have a release saying they will add some videos and epilogues (no gameplay) which should finally put this IT crap to bed and people still cling to it? Unreal.
I also think IT isn't true, but this information in no way disproves it. BioWare is being very vague, possibly intentionally so. They say they're
not changing the endings, they're adding clarification. That's so vague
it could be anything.
For example, they could simply say that we don't understand the ending,
because we haven't seen the whole thing. The "clarification" would then
reveal that Goku stopped the Reapers while Shepard was unconscious, and
everything after that point was just a dream. They didn't directly
contradict the previous ending, and they added clarification, so
technically, they didn't lie. Even though we now have an ending where
Goku saves the day.
Obviously I'm being facetious. My point though, is that due to the vague
wording, they can change anything they feel like without actually
changing anything. This means nothing is off the table, and nothing is
any different than it was before the announcement, except we know it
will be coming in summer.
There's nothing vague about it. Cinematics has a very absolute meaning in development. It's a non-interactive cutscene. Epilogue has a very specific meaning in this game. Another non-interactive cutscene. There is no gameplay. If there was it wouldn't be free and they would be certainly highlight that in their announcement.

The negativity many treat this with is disheartening.
As bad as the ending is BioWare are addressing it, not just with clarity and closure but also PERSONALIZATION aka showing the results of your choices.
It is also FREE.
This is a much better result than I expected. Of course it doesn't address everything (thematic disconnect, bad storytelling) and remains to be seen how good it will end up being, but outright negativity is not the way to recieve this announcement.
Completely agree with you here.
One would've expected an announcement like this to be received with more joy (or at least a cautious happiness).
This is a great thing. We should be supporting Bioware while leaving helpful comments to aid them in making this new content.
Explaining a bad thing does not make it good, how about an ending that the consumer watches and we all say, oh I get it
the fact they need to expline it is a failure on thier behalf, it was a disaster and teh ending needs to be ripped out or create an alternate path ending to avoide teh star child, remove that this completly it b ebetter and make more sense.
Still holding the line i will not listen to such nonsense. I will hold the line till we get a new ending. I am not willing to give into this!

Of'course you need gameplay, silly. If the ending was a dream you still need to destroy the reapers and i don't want to see this ending in a freaking cutscene.FlyinElk212 wrote...
But does Indoctrination Theory NEED gameplay? I don't think it does.Capeo wrote...

I see a lot of people saying, "ALRIGHT, END OF INDOCTRINATION THEORY!"
...but is it? I mean, couldn't they do 3 "extended cuts" of whether or not you trumped Indoctrination?
Do you know what cinematics means? They are just adding cutscenes and epilogues. No gameplay. No IT. There never was any indoctrination.
Besides, even if it is true, how the HELL is Shep supposed to do anything afterwards? Unless it's a repeat of exactly what happened while Indoctrination was occurring.

You cannot be indoctrinated or be shown to break free from it in a cinematic?Capeo wrote...

The fact that its being released this summer raises my hopes. This means that they will actually put adequate time into it, instead of it being a cheap quick-fix. That being said, Casey himself also said that the endings will feel more personalized. I have high hopes for this, I can't believe anyone is stupid enough to make the same mistake twice.
You're putting faith in the man that said:
That means the endings can be a lot
more different. At this point we’re taking into account so many
decisions that you’ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that
stuff. It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings,
where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got
ending A, B, or C.....The endings have a lot more sophistication and
variety in them.”

I'll reserve my judgement... for now.
Like what was said before, it is better than nothing. (unless this just adds more speculation/questions)
This, will just wait and see what turns out. The fact that they they mention only cinematics and cut scene additions doesn't encourage me, but then again is better than nothing.

Your link shows the posted date as 5th April, and if I go to EA direct and then to the press room it shows 4th April.
We'll wait and see, but pretty pictures do not an ending make. We really need content and context.

And the fact that people are complaining about it coming out in the summer and not earlier....
I hate to use this phrase, but get a bloody life for christ's sake. Is your life so devoid of meaning you can't possibly wait one or two months?
At least we know it isn't going to be rushed.
Not just this, but it coming out in the summer and not earlier is a GOOD thing.
It means they are not just crapping out a last minute bunch of text or brief cutscenes, but that it will be somewhat more substantial.
