People are forgetting what we fought for.

If there are ONLY cutscenes, that means we STILL have just THREE choices (Red, Blue, Green). We still have the SAME dialogue options (none). Our choices STILL don't matter.

THAT WAS A MAJOR POINT of the fight and Bioware dicked up again by just adding more movie scenes.

For me, this was the main point.

Exactly! People are forgetting that choice still won't matter! You'll still pick the same red, green, and blue endings! I wanted to tell the StarChild to **** off! Hell, I wanted Star Child GONE! But no... instead we'll be getting a polished turd. People are forgetting, it's still an A, B, or C ending.

This is not the end of movement. Do not yield, keep on demanding a CHANGE not a calcification.

Just drop it already. Complete 100% change of the ending is NOT going to happen. Be happy they're doing anything with the endings.

That sounds good and all....
But really, one part scares me:

“ we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.”

So the Starchild will still be there.

Biggest problem is still our choices up to that point being disregarded. I think many people would've preferred to not have a final choice at all, and simply get an ending based off your overal choices throughout the game.

THIS
A lot of people expected this, and not A,B,C (RGB) space magic.

How can you even say that? It's factually inaccurate.

Apologies if so.

Who else has done this?

Bethesda, Broken Steel DLC.

Also, apparently The Witcher 2 was changed significantly due to fan feedback.

Ah okay, I didn't think the Fallout DLC was THAT significant to the ending... But yeah not sure.

And okay, can't really say on that one. Never played the Witcher series

I still think we've got it pretty good here though guys.

Free is good, closest thing to an admission of error I think we'll get this side of a reaper invasion.

I do hope they don't outright refuse to alter anything though, there are simply too many inconsistencies and lore-rape for Bioware to simply explain them away. There is not an explanation out there that would convince me that my crew would abandom my Shep, OR that the Space-child doesn't ruin the reapers and make ME1 a giant plot hole.

It IS a step in the right direction, although I still want to stab someone with a fork everytime I see the word "artistic". >.>

"Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes..."

How is that going to work considering many here want Shepard to be with their LI and the Normandy crashed on another planet. Either that scene will be cut and replaced or Shepard will be magically appear on the planet with them. This might cause more problems if its the latter.

Either way, this will be interesting to see how they do it.

I'm probably being stupid here, but I can't find the part that says 'offer expires April 12'. anywhere.

Could someone please direct me to it?

This expiration seems to imply that we have one week to 'sign up' for this, or we'll miss out.. would not be happy if that happened.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts Inc. announced Mass Effect™ 3: Extended Cut, a downloadable content pack that will expand upon the events at the end of the critically acclaimed Action RPG. Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes. Coming this summer, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will be available for download on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC for no extra charge*.

“We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager of EA’s BioWare Label. “Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.”

Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, “We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.”

The Mass Effect franchise is one of the most highly decorated series in the history of games, having earned over 250 awards from critics around the world. Mass Effect 3 launched last month to universal critical acclaim, receiving over 75 perfect scores. Sigh.... I figured it was headed in this direction but I had hoped that Bioware and EA would have more sense than that. "Clarification" on an ending that is pure fecal does almost nothing. A new, better ending would be sooo easy, thousands of people have made suggestions in videos and threads but Bioware and EA, for some ungodly reason... want to protect this ending that everyone hates. Even if you add more scenes to "Clarify"... the ending is still broke, its still a mess... its still the biggest fecal matter explosion in video game end history... and that is the template they are starting from. They didn't listen to a damn thing... they are doing this as what they view as the easy way out but I can guarantee that if they keep the ending as it is... without War Assets and decisions mattering in the end... it will still suck. So continue to hold the line!!!! Don't let up... don't be fooled... and maybe if there is enough added pressure they will change the ending for real.

Let's wait and see what's in store, guys, obviously they won't announce "We're retconning the ending!".
The fact it comes out in a few months means we won't get a quick fix slideshow epilogue, they're taking it seriously. And it's free!
My faith in BioWare is restoring.

I agree. It would not take them 3 months to throw up afew slideshows and text walls. I'm guessing it will be a serious endeavour.

Wow, now I am seeing whiny and entitled. As much as I hate those words. They're doing something about it and say it's free, yet still people are complaining? I'll be over here in the "Wait and see" section of Retake.

Clearly u don't know what the retake was fighting for not to get the broken ending that we have clarified but a new one that makes sense. So i guess u are not fighting for the same thing as the rest of us are.
still its nice of them to do something and free, but they clearly did not listen at all to what we wanted so i feel like what we did was a waste =/

this is a good step for the movement! it may even be victory...... but we shouldn't get our hopes up as the summer is a good distance away. we need to stand firm and make it clear that "clarity" and "closure" may not be good enough to quell the fires that the abhorrence of an ending that the star child sparked! until were happy with the endings, stand firm and HOLD THE LINE!

A couple of important questions:
  • Will there be dialogue in the new cutscenes?
  • Does that mean the ending will still remain out of touch with the choices you made throughout the game?
  • Will they commit and make the choices more distinct?
  • Will they actually apologize for everything that has happened including the arrogant treatment by their IGN pudel and the Tali image?

I hope some of this clarification tells out just how the hell the universe as we've known it is supposed to continue on (for future content).

Hopefully there'll be a cutscene at the end of this dlc that shows a newly built relay or something.
Or since all the races know they need each other now, a lot of them start to gather in a more condensed area of the galaxy.

If it's just "This is what's happened to this character!" then I'll be a little disappointed still.

I don't know why 'free' is weighing in so much, the uproar if they'd decided to charge for this 'extended' cut would've been 10 times as loud, we all knew that the 'fix' would probably be free.

Considering what they actually thought was a great ending, I'll remain skeptical until I play / watch it. But I'll trade ALL the extended cutscenes if they save the relays. If they still destroy the relays (pick a color), then the series and universe is still dead in my eyes.

It seems that on the surface of the response that they did not actually "Listen" to the fans at all.
