also: I did nnot expect much more anyway.
And nibidy here would even consider paying for clarification.
I'd pay for alternative ending.

I'd pay for an alternative ending, too. Not just any alternative ending though - if they want me to pay for it I'd have to be pretty damn sure it's what I want.

I would also gladly pay for a "ME2 character romances" DLC, if it included something like a mission to find a cure for Thane. I don't expect him to "just live" or anything. I'd be fine if I had to work to keep him alive.

Coming this summer, yet offer expires April 12th? What?

At least it's SOMETHING, think we will need to hold the line until release though.

Btw, I can spoil the Ending DLC if you like?
One scene where "The crucible is doing nothing, retreat!" is announced by Hackett to send all the races back to their original worlds. (this is why Lance Henriksen knew about "big plans")
Once scene where someone convinces Joker to leave the space around Earth since the rest of the galaxy's forces are retreating and him stubbornly refusing until the very last second. This includes him picking up Cortez and the squadmates on Earth.
One Scene where the crashed Normandy finds civilization on the wilderness planet. (prestarflight and with both mirrors of aminoacids or a short mention of Normandy being albe to support the dextros)
Then some splashscreens and maybe a few animations showing squadmembers with children all around the galaxy. Including blue babies. All of them bearing the name Shepard.

The utter sh*tpile of writing with GodChild remains unchanged since this is Caseys artistic vision put in as a reminder of how it is to work with EA and their Child logic.

This leaves ME in a state where all the players are back into square one except Humans who will be divided up between the Hackett faction who got stuck after regrouping a Mass Relay or two away and Andersons resistance back on Earth.
No matter what choice we took Shepard is dead (even in Destroy, that was just silly pandering and will amount to bubkiss) and the Reapers die/leave without doing anything.
The synthesis will be ignored in any future setting except maye as a circuitry texture package.

There you have the glory of Mass Effect franchise.
As beautiful as if Luke Skywalker had said to the Emperor "Sure, Dark Side sounds like the right thing. I will become your b*tch and then die"

How can you even say that? It's factually inaccurate.

Apologies if so.

Who else has done this?

Bethesda.

Bethesda did not change the ending, they made post ending DLC. And it wasnt free

True, but in this case post ending DLC would, in my opinion, be better than a clarification.

People are forgetting what we fought for.

If there are ONLY cutscenes, that means we STILL have just THREE choices (Red, Blue, Green). We still have the SAME dialogue options (none). Our choices STILL don't matter.

THAT WAS A MAJOR POINT of the fight and Bioware dicked up again by just adding more movie scenes.

For me, this was the main point.

Exactly! People are forgetting that choice still won't matter! You'll still pick the same red, green, and blue endings! I wanted to tell the StarChild to **** off! Hell, I wanted Star Child GONE! But no... instead we'll be getting a polished turd. People are forgetting, it's still an A, B, or C ending.

Tell the Starchild to f**k off and then...what?  Let the Reapers annihilate the fleets utterly?  I guess maybe that could be an option?

I'm officially done with mass effect.
The only reason they did is so they do not embarrass themselves at PAX about the ending.
2 month for what? More pictures and probably 5 minute clip is what I am getting at from this annocement. We know how you handle pictures, look at tali face.

Good Luck trying to sell your next game, I hope you lose a large chunk of profit and realize you handled this situation in a bad banner. I do not give a crap if this crap dlc is free, I would have paid money for better ENDINGS.

Im so sick of people mentioning Bethesda. They didn't change squat. They merely let you continue playing, and they charged for it.

This is not the end of movement. Do not yield, keep on demanding a CHANGE not a calcification.

Just drop it already. Complete 100% change of the ending is NOT going to happen. Be happy they're doing anything with the endings.

Yes that is exactly what is said at the beggining when people first demmanded a change. Don't bother EA will never cave. And not look where we are. EA voted worst company in America, stock price falling. Bioware going from defending the ending, to saying maybe we'll have a change, to we will add cutsecnes for closure. Why so defeatest?

HOLD THE LINE.

My thoughts:
1) First of all, no final judgement until a) PAX B) I actually play it
2) I am on board with not scrapping the whole ending, didn't expect it anyway... but, see 3
3) Summer means at least 2-3 months of development, so they better deliver the mother of all clarifications for it to work
4) It's free, so that being said - Just make it right soldier.

extra cinematics and epilogue. So the gameplay part is done?

This scares me, and is the reason why i am still not sold on it. However, if it means cutscenes with A TON of choices, then alright...

If no Shep happy with Liara & blu kids, or no shep with Garrus on beach, then this is for me for nothing! In all this I also mean plugging the massive plot holes!

Joking aside, I want to see what the do with that.
To all intent and purpose my Shepard is still alive.
If that fact is ignored in the 'Extended Cut', it will be a major step backwards for me, from bad to worse.

I'm aware.

Why did they do that and just how substantial was this 'Broken Steel'

Oh yeah, it was huge, worth the money, and it happened because the fans asked for it.

I think waiting until tomorrow until jumping to conclusions is fair. We can give them another day to find out exactly what they're planning.

But without additional gameplay content (again, I'm waiting until tomorrow but that's what it sounds like) and no additional, alternative endings? That means starchild stays, 3 choices stay, Shepard demise stays, Normandy crashes stays; it seems to me they're still ending this series in this way, we'll just get better justification and creative explanation for why the endings are the way they are. It seems to me that Shepard ain't gonna live.

I'm sorry, and again I'm waiting till tomorrow to know for sure, but Indoc, additional endings, retconned endings...they ain't happening.

People please, this is the best we could hope for. Anyone who stopped to consider it rationally should know they weren't going to make any serious changes to their beloved story, no matter how bizarre the conclusion may be.

Is it ideal? Of course not, but no one should have been hoping for the ideal situation under these circumstances.  Let's wait it and see, maybe they can at least save the universe.

Consider the worst case scenario: Even if Shepard does blindly accept the Star Child's word as truth, they can still provide enough information to spare the universe at large from going down the tubes wit the Commander. Yes, Shepard may forever be an intergalactic nimrod, but there's still hope for the ME universe as a whole.

If the current endings are their idea of clarity and closure then I don't want any more.

Ah well, judgement reserved until i see it.

I agree that a post ending dlc would be much better. But people here dont want post ending dlc, they want a complete retcon of the ending, and that is not going to happen

The idea of added cinematics and an epilogue is enough to satisfy me, if it is done correctly and not half-assed. Yes, I hated star-child. Yes, I hated everything about the ending--not only the lack of clarity, but the plot, the setup, and the reasoning. BUT--would I really like a completely reworked ending any better? I'd just play through it and know, in the back of my mind, that this isn't the ending Bioware wrote, that this is just a bone thrown to the fans. I wouldn't get any more satisfaction out of playing a thematically changed ending, because at the end of the day, it's still just a replacement for the ending we already got. It would give me no more satisfaction than reading the fan-fiction endings posted on BSN. EA may have done gamers wrong int he past, and I know Bioware screwed up, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until the DLC comes out. Hell, they could have charged us for it, and they would have made a ton of money on it, regardless.
