For people saying the story is false keep in mind bioware staff are tweeting it.

I'm starting to really hate Twitter. Why can't we get a confirmation on the official forums FIRST instead of having to troll through Twitter feeds to see what Bioware staff are talking about?

One Final Effort from Bioware to fix this crazyness.

Not gonna happen, though.

(God that music is epic.)

There is no new news there and Why would they post this before PAX where why plan to have BIG news

Will wait till tomorrow to give up hope

I'm going to go with this one for now. EA making an announcement before Bioware? Just before PAX? Seems a bit odd to me. Image IPB

jez... it is NOT a fake

Fff, stomach hurts.

I feel like 'clarification' is only going to move this from 'an ending I cannot accept' to merely 'an ending I hate but am unable to do anything about'.

I'm perfectly capable of justifying all these inconsistencies and plot gaps myself. Bioware doing so will have little effect beyond making it slightly harder to write Good Ending fanfic.

Is anyone else feeling a bit like Lisa Simpson with her Lisa Lionheart doll, right now? Like, you thought everyone was with you, and agreed with you about how the old doll was terrible, but suddenly it turns out all anyone ever wanted was a new hat on Malibu Stacy?

A crystal clear turd is still a turd. I cannot fathom how anyone lobbying for a better ending calls this a victory.

I'm going to wait to see what they come up with, but to certain extent I still agree with what you are saying.

You have a point. But why not wait (at least until tomorrow) before judging by yourself?

I mean, at least they're putting effort into doing something. We still have to see if it will be worth it or not, yes, but come on, at least give them the benefit of the doubt before outright dismissing their work.

I already gave them the benefit of the doubt and they gave me a starchild.

We don't even know for certain if they're 'putting effort' into it or just finishing off some of the cut content already on-disc and keeping the release late to keep us hopeful and fit in with the release of their already-finished DLC.

None of the wording here sounds like they're listening to what we had to say. They're hiding behind 'artistic vision' and telling us we just didn't understand. Maybe I'm a cynic. All I know is fool me twice, shame on me.

Sorry the more they promised you was a game. You did got a game. With the feature "Take back the earth". Sorry my box cover doesn't say anything else than that on it.

Casey Hudson wrote...

“… part of what you’re trying to do is save the universe so you can live in it. That’s part of the promise, I think, for any great IP. It has to be a world worth saving… I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the Reapers and win that, wouldn’t it be amazing to just live on the Citadel or just take a ship to Omega? That makes sense.”

Hey, that's a great quote by Casey Hudson! Maybe BioWare should listen to that guy! Oh, wait...

All this extended cut is doing is to "clarify" and add "closure" to the ending. They've not changed it, therefore they haven't listened.

They must have looked at the forums and the internet as a whole, saw that people didn't like it and thought "oh, they must need an extra cutscene or two just to explain a couple of things". Judging by the Extended Cut's description, it appears that they didn't read our specific issues at all.

I doubt this cut will make things much better. Colour me majorly dissapointed, again.

The only one I know of is Bethesda with Fallout 3. They patched the ending with Broken Steel I think, a paid for DLC that gives you extra gameplay post ending where the main character used to die. There were a lot of problems with it because it didn't make sense if you brought Fawkes along (who's a Supermutant, immuned to radiation) for example.

The new ending has the main character wake up after being hosed with rads which doesn't make sense either, but the Fallout universe gets a pass on these things and it leads to one of the best DLCs ever.

I would love to see a Broken Steel dlc for Mass Effect, but the various endings would make that hard.

Huuu... Broken Steel story was meh just like the infamous Anchorage dlc. The only thing good about it is you could finish the main storyline and still explore and do crap around the map. Plus the few guns and armor they put in as well as the new level cap. Other than that...  you had to pay 800MP / 10$ to get the DLC.

To clarify, I'm happy Bioware's doing this. I gladly accept free DLC that expounds on the ending.

I'm simply disappointed that Bioware, at least according to this press release, seems to have missed the point with the current problems surrounding the endings.

wait so the offer expires 12 April but the DLC isn't out till summer?! How does that work, and where is the link to the official statement? All I can find is news articles.

I think it might be April of next year.

It says April of 2014. That's how long they guarantee the DLC will be available for free.

Part of the problem wih the retake movement is that there are so many variations of what people want:

-Clarify
-IT theory
-Not clarify and make things even more unexplained
-Take out Catalyst/Starbrat
-Take out Anderson/TIM
-Add a a final boss similar to any Final Fantasy game etc. (Harginger)
-Take out red blue green
-Add happier endings or don't make the Normandy always Crash
-Add epilogue/visuals of what happens to other characters (part of clarify really).
-Remove everything post Ronnoch and rewrite.
-Remove everything post Cererbus base and rewrite.

While all these are not mutually exclusive from one another, the ending could get convoluted and lose it's philosophical bent (which is part of their artistic integrity argument which I agree with, since i'm one of those "pro-enders"

I completely agree. And as someone who actually liked the endings, I'm personally glad they are not doing an extreme makeover of the end of the game. Clarity and epilogue seems like just about enough to me.

I'm sorry but is there no pleasing you little ****es? The retake movement was never about getting endings changed, it was to clarify what the **** just happened. Now you got a bunch of babies crying because they think bioware didn't listen.

So we're stuck with Shepard going meekly into the night taking the space casper's word as law. What a waste. *sigh*

Their "artistic vision" of the end of Shep's story is absolute horse dung. "Clarifying" or describing it doesn't improve it. In the end, it's still a steaming pile of dung.

Cute. So it will be for this summer just to make sure the Retake group will all but stop during all that time. I see two outcomes out of the dlc:

1- It actually answer some things like how the fleets are getting home and the consequence of the choice made out of the three crappy options. Then we'll just proceed to ignore what we don't like.
2- They screw that up too and they'll fire up the group in mass fury again.

If all they're going to do is treat us like children who didn't understand their terrible ending, I honestly don't know why they even bother. All that's doing is adding insult to injury.

There are a lot of things about the ending that needs clarifying.

Space Brat however, is just broken. I don't see how "clarification" will fix him.
