The thing is, if they 'clarify' it, then nothing's gonna change. Star-god-mecha-cthulhu's grandson is still gonna be there, offering the same 3 awful, nonsensical choices, there still won't be a golden ending (as I believe was promised at one point), Shepard is still gonna die, your crew are gonna be spontaneously trapped on some planet, and Buzz Aldrin is still gonna show up at the end that no one cares about.

The end needs to be changed, not clarified.

I have the sinking feeling that this is merely going to be the proverbial lipstick on a pig. I really hope they remove the starchild as it is a sign of poor writing (and Mass Effect should not be an example of what not to do from a storytelling perspective), but this is in BioWare's hands.

I think the only prudent course of action at this point is to wait and see what happens while maintaining a healthy mix of skepticism and optimism.

People are forgetting what we fought for.

If there are ONLY cutscenes, that means we STILL have just THREE choices (Red, Blue, Green). We still have the SAME dialogue options (none). Our choices STILL don't matter.

THAT WAS A MAJOR POINT of the fight and Bioware dicked up again by just adding more movie scenes.

For me, this was the main point.

Exactly! People are forgetting that choice still won't matter! You'll still pick the same red, green, and blue endings! I wanted to tell the StarChild to **** off! Hell, I wanted Star Child GONE! But no... instead we'll be getting a polished turd. People are forgetting, it's still an A, B, or C ending.

Tell the Starchild to f**k off and then...what?  Let the Reapers annihilate the fleets utterly?  I guess maybe that could be an option?

Yes, because that would have been MY CHOICE. Unlike you seem to be, I wasn't willing to submit to the Reapers. But I forgot... it's not about choice anymore. It's about "Artistic Integrity!"

So Shep wakes up in the rubble and that's the ending still?

So we're stuck with Shepard going meekly into the night taking the space casper's word as law. What a waste. *sigh*

Their "artistic vision" of the end of Shep's story is absolute horse dung. "Clarifying" or describing it doesn't improve it. In the end, it's still a steaming pile of dung.

Part of the problem wih the retake movement is that there are so many variations of what people want:

-Clarify
-IT theory
-Not clarify and make things even more unexplained
-Take out Catalyst/Starbrat
-Take out Anderson/TIM
-Add a a final boss similar to any Final Fantasy game etc. (Harginger)
-Take out red blue green
-Add happier endings or don't make the Normandy always Crash
-Add epilogue/visuals of what happens to other characters (part of clarify really).
-Remove everything post Ronnoch and rewrite.
-Remove everything post Cererbus base and rewrite.

While all these are not mutually exclusive from one another, the ending could get convoluted and lose it's philosophical bent (which is part of their artistic integrity argument which I agree with, since i'm one of those "pro-enders"

Yeah, many of the "I am entitled to the ending I WANT because I paid money" posters forget that other players paid money too and they too have the endings THEY WANT.

*sighs* There is just no way of pleasing you guys is there?
You get additional content for Free. You are complaining that it is bad, yet you haven't even seen all based on a very vague press release. In how many different ways wrong is that?
I liked the ending. I admit Bioware could have made somethings better, but hell they are trying to fix that so that is fine in my books.

Guys stop mentioning it's free as if it's a good thing.

This is EA. If it's free, it's probably going to be two things:

1) Extremely short
2) Poorly done

It's not even free forever, the offer expires in April of 2014.

Lol, I don't understand that part.

By the time 2 years rolls around it will be Mass Effect 3 gold edition (or that's what they used to call the legacy products.  Which means it will be included in the box for new purchasers.

Now, without knowing anything else... Yes it looks like we'll be stuck with the goofy railroad ending.  Still have a choice of 3 colors but it will be explained longer.

I suspect it will just be re adding the dialogue that was removed.

Maybe that will clear things up.  Maybe it won't.  Maybe we'll just get a fourth color option.  There is no way to know until we get the downloadable content and see for ourselves.  Unless someone tells us, which I doubt they will.

I doubt that they will only add the deleted dialogue. it wouldn't take them a few months to do only that.

Honestly, if the epilogue allows my still alive Ashley to reunite with my (apparently) still alive Shepard, then that will be good enough for me. It won't be a perfect ending obviously, still rife with plotholes, but it will be good enough to let me feel like I accomplished something.

It's killing me the way the quote runs: "...(add) even more context and clarity to the ending of the game"

Even more.

You know, in addition to the totally sufficient context and clarity that was already there, but just wasn't enough for "our most passionate fans".

"With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.”

Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, “We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.”

Yup "context and clarity."and "Artistic Vision", 3 terms I had no desire to hear. - My personal bull***t meter is telling me they are going to polish the S*** and then try to explain to us why its really an apple.

Just to remind you guys what was promised to us by biggest liars in the videogame history:

“… part of what you’re trying to do is save the universe so you can live in it. That’s part of the promise, I think, for any great IP. It has to be a world worth saving… I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the Reapers and win that, wouldn’t it be amazing to just live on the Citadel or just take a ship to Omega? That makes sense.”- Casey Hudson

"There are many different endings. We wouldn’t do it any other way. How could you go through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets? "- Mike Gamble

I want to gather all these together and print them on an insert for my me3 box.

I'm sorry but is there no pleasing you little ****es? The retake movement was never about getting endings changed, it was to clarify what the **** just happened. Now you got a bunch of babies crying because they think bioware didn't listen.

The Retake Movement has had a hundred and one different objectives, clarification being just one of them.

Nice to see this happen, though i have doubts about this 'Even more clarity' comment. Only way i can see that happening is if the gates are opened to Hudson and that other guys personal writing chamber and they sick the other writers upon them, to hammer the ending into a conclusion fitting for the Franchise and in the case of 3, Worthy to stand next to Tuchanka and Rannoch.

This is unlikely to end well. If they're trying to polish a turd... urgh...

Again with the artistic nonsense as well.

Question now is do they try and sneak some multiplayer/vanity pack dlc out the door before this gets released and try to cash grab?

Will wait and see how this turns out but if it goes how I expect it to... Bad show Bioware, bad show. Hope I'm wrong though.
