Liklihood is all they intend doing is putting back some of the content they originally cut from the final version.

So guy's it seems that it  now starts....

German Gamestar posts too (in German):

http://www.gamestar....51,2566570.html

First I would thank Bioware for not ignoring us.

But guy's (Community):
Please hold the line but calm down and do it in a positive way. Stop flaming and wait until we EXACTLY KNOW what this extra Content contains!

Do not some speculations! Hold the Line! But with a positive basis. This is not the end but EA/Bioware got a step towards us! So they deserve that we (still holding the line) calm a bit down and keep to be fair!!!!!! This is very important!

I'm very excited that we got a promising (and not hope destroying) reaction! But I am aware too that this whole thing kann still suck.. but please and again:

Hold the line, calm down and have an precise eye on what's going on the next months...

Agreed.
Sir, I believe they are trying to break troop morale.

Am I crazy to say that I really don't see a problem with clarifying the current endings AND adding a few additional, alternative endings?

I think completely retconning and changing the endings is too much. But won't MOST of us be placated if we have a choice to get clearer "A, B, C" endings AND a few more?

What's wrong with that? Wouldn't many be happy with something like this? And we get to play the game some more! I'll pay for a few additional endings.

Does that ruin the artistic integrity of the current endings? I don't think it would? No, it really shouldn't, should it?

Reading that (the official note at EA) means that there will be *NO* change to the ending. This is what we have, and what they intended. ... Well, sirs, this game will go down in history as the worst ending in recorded history. Even plan 9 from outer space managed to have a better ending. I'll say this. It is a remarkable feat to have created the best sci-fi adventure this side of the millennium, only to have a total train crash for an ending. Well, done sirs.... well done.

So now EAWare have removed the gun pointed at their genitalia, and pointed it at their foot. This is going to go two ways: Either they'll show the stuff we actually want to see and remove all the loopholes we've seen, or they'll screw this chance up again and we'll be back at square one, albeit with nearly everyone against them having no faith in them whatsoever.

*Sarcastically*: ...Hooray...

Frankly, after everything that's happened, I'm still rebuilding my faith from the bottom, everything they've said means nothing to me until we see or know of some of the actual content we're going to see.

PS: Worst thing about it, EAWare have actually put an expiration date on the free DLC... and then they'll probably sell it for 300 MS points. somehow, I find that incredibly amusing, and frankly, if it's a repeat of EAWares half-a**sed first attempt, then I don't think Bioware will be around by then.

As long as they simply throw the Normandy bit in the recycle bin I'm fine.

I think I'll make a poll about it.

Nope. Don't care. It sounds like a dumping more crap on a pile of crap.

"...to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.”

Where have I heard this before?

Btw, I can spoil the Ending DLC if you like?
One scene where "the cruicble is doing nothing, retreat" by Hackett to send all the races back to their original worlds. (this is why Lance Henriksen knew about "big plans")
Once scene where someone convinces Joker to leave the space around Earth since the rest is retreating and him stubbornly refusing until the very last second. This includes him picking up Cortez and the squadmates on Earth.
One Scene where the crashed Normandy finds civilization on the crashed planet.
Then some splashscreens and maybe a few animations showing squadmembers with children. Including blue babies.
The utter sh*tpile of writing with GodChild remains unchanged since this is Caseys artistic vision put in as a reminder of how it is to work with EA and their Child logic.
This leaves ME in a state where all the players are back into square one except Humans who will be divided up between the Hackett faction who got stuck after regrouping a Mass Relay or two away and Andersons resistance back on Earth.
No matter what choice we took Shepard is dead (even in Destroy, that was just silly pandering and will amount to bubkiss) and the Reapers leave/die without doing anything.
The synthesis will be ignore in any setting in the future except maye as a circuit texture package.
There you have the glory of Mass Effect.
As beautiful as if Luke Skywalker had said to the Emperor "Sure, Dark Side sounds like the right thing. I will become your b*tch and then die"

Shhhhhh.....don't give them ideas!

What? I'd be more likely to insipre Helen Keller.
Their ears and eyes are coinoperated. The coins have run out so no more listening to fanbase or their fellow writers.

"Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, “We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.”

Oh Casey, I just don't know if I can trust you anymore, you know after all the prerelease promises.

"The Mass Effect franchise is one of the most highly decorated series in the history of games, having earned over 250 awards from critics around the world. Mass Effect 3 launched last month to universal critical acclaim, receiving over 75 perfect scores."

Yes 75 perfect scores, and they still have to fix the ending, gaming journalism = broken

So, BioWare didnt listen...
I highly doubt, that they can bring any sense with this DLC into the last 5 minutes.
You can´t paint a pile of crap yellow and then say it is pure gold.
I will stick with my own end then.

I suupose I'll just have to wait and see for myslef, but I really don't think they can salvage this ending with "clarty" and "closure". If yu have to clarify your ending, that means it was broken and wrong in the first place. Why try to polish something broken?

I don't know if they had any recourse if they wanted to evade intensified backlash from certain gamers/review agencies. Beats nothing atm.

Still, disappointing nonetheless.

Well IMHO this clarifies two things:

1. They were never planning some elaborate ending replacement scheme (i.e. indoctrination theory not canon)
2. They were genuinely surprised people were unhappy - so much so that instead of being open to the idea of alternate endings, they want to explain the current one(s) more. Which is fine but feels a bit more like they're saying we just didn't get it....

3. In respect to number 2 above, they may have planned the ending for a reason. ME4

I don't mind what they are doing here. Just provide more clarity, because I'm too impatient to wait 2 years to hear about future plans for ME4.  /s

I have the sinking feeling that this is merely going to be the proverbial lipstick on a pig. I really hope they remove the starchild as it is a sign of poor writing (and Mass Effect should not be an example of what not to do from a storytelling perspective), but this is in BioWare's hands.

I think the only prudent course of action at this point is to wait and see what happens while maintaining a healthy mix of skepticism and optimism.

I think they are in love with the starchild idea.  It seems to be the centerpoint of their whole artistic integrity.  Its the dumbest writing mistake ever, and we know that, but still.

It is their darling they refuse to kill.

Why do I still feel like they are trying isolate the upset fans and stand behind the great scores/reviews. Don't get me wrong I am ecstatic about the ending DLC. I just still upset that I might have to talk to the "God child" and not have a choice in the final moments. I will get the GRB ending but I guess I will swallow the vomit as that plays out in hope this new cinematic epilogue makes up for it.

What did that PR guy call this? A Ruse de Guerre?

And look how many fans are falling for it. Seriously, at least be thankful that they're DOING something in the first place.
