I don't think they listened to anything that we said. NOTHING. I don't think the writers/producers read so much as a single forum post. What I believe they did respond to was the negative media attention and *maybe* the fairly quick price drops at retailers.
Obviously, we don't yet completely know what the "Extended Cut" will consist of, but if it's what it sounds like, it seems to me that it's just something for BioWare/EA to point to as they tell the gaming media "SEE! We listen to our fans!!!". Rather than fan service, I think it's just another PR exercise.

Oh my lord.
What if they add a fifty years later epilogue that shows the Normandy crew now all old and nostalgic sitting on their jungle colony.
I will throw a tantrum and never stop for the rest of my adult life.
I hate to say it but I would put money on that. Seem's like this was there "vision".

Well IMHO this clarifies two things:
1. They were never planning some elaborate ending replacement scheme (i.e. indoctrination theory not canon)
2. They were genuinely surprised people were unhappy - so much so that instead of being open to the idea of alternate endings, they want to explain the current one(s) more. Which is fine but feels a bit more like they're saying we just didn't get it....
Or they could simply think the story works but the implentation was rushed/poorly executed.

These sacrifice endings don't match my main Shepard' personality and story, no matter what others tell me about the characters I play.

3. In respect to number 2 above, they may have planned the ending for a reason. ME4
I'm not sure if people realize this but the 3 endings are different enough that there really can't be an ME4 that takes place AFTER the events of ME3.

So either you accept this fact as you should have for like 2 week minimum. Or you go away for good and find another game dev' to bother. Simple right?

Even if that DLC is going to clarify all this crappy ending, it probably won't satisfy majority of upset fans. The ones which are happy with poor writing, or maybe those who just wan't Normandy scene explained, will be probably satisfied.
However, all this outrage came rather from the people who wan't the ending re-written, not explained.
For me, IT was that middle ground (I wasn't a fan of it, but it was some way to render spacekid unreal), but BioWare is too proud to do that. They'll stick to this nonsensical quasi-choice you're given, and tell you just WHY you were abandoned by your crew, WHY your squaddies teleported (or - even more possible - actually FIX that plothole by coding different default squaddies out of the Normandy) and so on.
But, after all, the full list of questions is still here. They can address these questions in those sequences/cut-scenes.

"You're getting more of our amazing starchild vision. We're adding some dialogue-free cutscenes and text walls to explain how right our plothole-filled mess is. It's free because we're not really doing much and we're not changing anything in-game, but it's going to take us until "sometime in Summer" because goodwill is more valuable than the further disappointment you'll have when you realize this is all you're getting. Until then, we're going to make it sound awesome so maybe you guys will be relieved enough that our Aria DLC won't be take too big of a hit in sales."
Quoted for THE Truth.
Btw, this is my official response to this EC thing (especially this Forbes post):
"Victory? Victory, you say? Master Forbes/BSN, not victory. The shroud of EA has fallen. Begun *coughEndedcough*, the BioWar(e) has!"

So, let me get this straight:
No gameplay whatsoever
Godchild and space magic still there
Galactic civilisations still screwed
All progress uniting the galaxy still rendered pointless
Turians and Quarians still starve to death
Key themes of the franchise (choice, beating odds, tolerance, forgetting differences for a common goal) still negated
Ten years of loyal support...
Good bye BioWare, I'm off to the Bay again

Clarification isn't going to help salvage this mess. Were you evenpaying attention to ourcomplaints? Your ending was poorly written and the execution was even worse. I don't need clarification about Star-Jar, I need to he able to tell him to **** off! I want to beat the reapers and not genocide the people Shepard cares about. I want you tostop phoning this in!!!!
Still Holding the fraking Line!!!

i would like it so that they indoctrination theory is true and if you defeated it you wake up at that breathing scene and then bioware can make an ending from that
Their statement does not make this impossible. Just won't be any new gameplay involved other that MAYBE dialogue choices.

I'm sorry but is there no pleasing you little ****es? The retake movement was never about getting endings changed, it was to clarify what the **** just happened. Now you got a bunch of babies crying because they think bioware didn't listen.
Haha. You might want to have a peek at your own sig, brah.

I highly doubt, that they can bring any sense with this DLC into the last 5 minutes.
You can´t paint a pile of crap yellow and then say it is pure gold.
I will stick with my own end then.
i highly recommend the comic in my sig for headcanon ending. they are awesome.

What many are doing here right now is SPECULATE. Didn't we all agree that we wanted to stop and we wanted less of that?
Right now we should feel happy, because
Bioware and EA reacted
They release more content for free
They actually take some time to do it
I understand the skepticism, but they could have also just said: you get nothing, that's it.
I for one will accept the endings if a significant amount of open questions is clarified. Will I like it? Probably not, but I will respect the writers choice. At least I hope they learned a lesson that "Lots of speculation for everyone" is actually not a good idea in the first place.

Mass Effect 3 Ending: Tasteful, Understated Nerdrage
You simply must acknowledge that the ending, as presented, is beyond clarification or placing in context. It can't be done. MrBtongue has some cogent, pertinent suggestions for you.
An epilogue showing how your choices played out after the Reapers' destruction is a great idea, but artistry doesn't preclude showing Shepard frolicking with little blue babies, or having drinks with Jacob on the Citadel, or watching Tali and the Geth rebuild Rannoch. The ending doesn't necessarily have to be "angsty," especially if the Twitch ending is a valid option.
I understand there’s a great deal of work in making a DLC like this, but doing it right will more than cover the sunk costs. Doing it right will go a long way to salvaging your personal reputations, and BioWare’s too.
So please don't place bandaging your bruised and battered egos above bringing perhaps the best science fiction trilogy in gaming to a consistent, coherent close. Don't just fix, really fix, the ending for the fans--do it for your legacy.
