Put it this way, if Bioware truly cares about their product and is truly proud of it, then they wouldn't be releasing something as simple as cutscenes designed to CLARIFY THE ENTIRE GAME.

Because that's what it is doing. The whole game makes no sense since nothing you do in it matters in the end.

BioWare deserve a chance to make it right. They have it now - at least with me.

Still, we don't know what it's going to be. Why not wait until it's released before complaining? I think this is fantastic news. Hopefully we'll find out why joker and our squadmates were running away!

Yes we do. It's going to be voiceless cinematics and epilogues. Since they're firm on not changing anything, the galaxy is staying screwed, spacechild and his yodawg excuse for being are locked in aspects of the game, and Shepard still blindly follows the word of an AI who admits to having created the Reapers. Tell me the happy part I'm missing.

The Big Palooka wrote...

Oh my lord.

What if they add a fifty years later epilogue that shows the Normandy crew now all old and nostalgic sitting on their jungle colony.

I will throw a tantrum and never stop for the rest of my adult life.

And then personalize it by showing Shepard's LI of choice weeping and clasping his/her dogtags.

How'd the LI get them? Two words. :wizard:

The only part im optimistic about is where it hudson says,

"....in a way that's more personalized for EACH PLAYER."

That tells me that if this is the plan, it will at least have to be extensive. Unless of course, Casey is lying again, or if BioWare believes that 3 different players total = "each player"....again. Not sure what to think at this point.

Wow I am fairly shocked by this. They asked for feedback from us about what we did and did not like and we gave them pretty thorough information.

What we didn't like:
- Plot holes & lore/story inconsistencies
- Star Child
- Negating of core choices in first 2 games
- Being given 3 endings which were all the same ending just differently colored instead of the 16 endings Bioware promised us.
- Destruction of the mass relays
- lack of closure on major decisions and knowledge of the outcome of your war assets.

The only thing this new DLC fixes is closure on the major decisions and war asset outcomes. It does absolutely nothing to address everything else the fans are unhappy with. Considering EA just won the worst company in America competition this doesn't bode well for them in trying to loose the title next time. I also know Bioware was and is going to continue to be up there on that list for future years to come.

We should have however expected this. All that means is I most likely will never purchase another Bioware title. I will however download this DLC to see if they did at least some semblance of a worthy attempt at giving players closure. However since they continue to insist that the deus ex machina brat is canon then they have lost already. One can only hope when they note our reaction on the forums they will realize they are making yet again, another huge mistake.

Also, in their attempt to balance "fan expectation" with the story components in the game they basically said:

"Well we understand your anger and we understand we destroyed the story and franchise we have helped build with you these last few years but we feel that even if your arguments are all perfectly logical and valid we'll just ignore that and give you some video and hope your happy with that so we don't have to do any real work to address the issues we have created."

God forbid they ever pony up and take the blame.

The only way the people that wanted Star-Jar wiped away were going to get it is if they had actually bought Bioware from EA.

if its just cut sceens and no harbinger fight then bioware would have alot of blood on their hands. killing off fans opinons and feedback towards the game.

Not perfect, but all in all better than a lot of people thought we would get. Guess we have to wait until summer now to find out what exactly they did.

so to clarify,

"Joker flew in on the Normandy and collected you two squad members, they all rushed off to save themselves incase you failed. Here is a nice shot of your crew safe and sound on this random planet we thought up. And if you manged to get Shepard to live at the end we thought we add a scene where a brute runs in, stamps you to death then does a little dance"

is that better now

I think not

Don't get me started on the DLC's either. Those are deactivated unless you are online. How about that little pill? That means you loose them as soon as they deactivate the server. DLC's you paid for gone :)
.. nice.

So either you accept this fact as you should have for like 2 week minimum. Or you go away for good and find another game dev' to bother. Simple right?

Yes, true. But you're leaving out the fact that this community, and many gamers around the world, find this franchise to be their most favorite, most riveting, involving, spellbinding, etc. So it's hard for people to take BW's strategy as word and move on when they (me included) love this franchise so much. It's too amazingly awesome for many of us to just say "oh well, okay."

I'm pretty close to accepting that! But I'd still like additional, alternative endings in addition to clarifying the current ones we got on disc.

I echo this sentiment. Maybe it will be enough. Maybe it won't. It would, however, be hard for them to make it *worse*

Basically, rationally I was always expecting this. But I was hoping for me. if this really is it then sorry bioware. you way missed the point. or you're hoping to derail with more vague statements and more putting the issue off to the future.

"Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, “We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.”

Oh Casey, I just don't know if I can trust you anymore, you know after all the prerelease promises.

"The Mass Effect franchise is one of the most highly decorated series in the history of games, having earned over 250 awards from critics around the world. Mass Effect 3 launched last month to universal critical acclaim, receiving over 75 perfect scores."

Yes 75 perfect scores, and they still have to fix the ending, gaming journalism = broken

It's actually that delusion of grandeur that I find the most amusing. If indeed the "critical acclaim" was "universal", would that not include the user/product reviews, which have lead to anything but acclaim...

The true "acclaim" will come when we see how much this whole debacle unfolds, with the release of BioWare's next title. If sales are significantly down or below their expectations, all that professionally paid for "critical acclaim" will be worthless, because people will have finally voted with their wallets.

What makes me laugh hardest though, amongst the PR shenanigans, is when companies like EA say how many games have "shipped", as if this means it's a resounding success. As anyone with a modicum of sense will know, most important is how many products are sold at full retail price, along with how many are returned, along with overall profit.

I'll concurr if the endings are "expanded" and "clarified" in the sense that the Indoctrination Theory is proven true. Nothing else than hallucination or dream can rectify what we've got on the disc.

So I'm with Forbes' Paul Tassi on this one: I don't want a rewrite of the ending, I want an "epilogue" which proves all my (and a massive amount of other people's) observations and musings true.

Then BioWare will have my faith and future money. Definitely.

Well, this is an interesting development. I'll withhold a final judgement until I find out what will be in this DLC. Clarification could mean a lot of things, so no point jumping the gun and condemning this. I'll maintain a healthy ambivalence until more information is released.

Anyone who wanted more than clarification and closure are -click here to have insult-. Nothing more nothing less. BioWare have stated more time than you can count they would NEVER change the ending. They might add explanation/closure as previously hinted and now pretty much confirmed.

true.
i dont understand how come people ccan still have faith in bioware/ea.
they should go and support other developer that value their fans better.

Basicly the ending goes from downright bad to reasonable ok if they pull this off properly. Still won't be as legendary as I had hoped, but I can live with it. Aslong as they fix most of the plotholes.

Well IMHO this clarifies two things:

1. They were never planning some elaborate ending replacement scheme (i.e. indoctrination theory not canon)
2. They were genuinely surprised people were unhappy - so much so that instead of being open to the idea of alternate endings, they want to explain the current one(s) more. Which is fine but feels a bit more like they're saying we just didn't get it....

3. In respect to number 2 above, they may have planned the ending for a reason. ME4

I'm not sure if people realize this but the 3 endings are different enough that there really can't be an ME4 that takes place AFTER the events of ME3.

says you. But, apparently with enough Image IPB you can do anything.
