"Clarity and closure" for what we currently have is like polishing a turd.

HOLD. THE. LINE.

So, essentially, we'll be getting the cutscenes they cut out of the released game.

Thanks for listening Bioware. You're the best.

only ONE (ok, two) question

will it matter if our Shepard is alive at the end??

will we get our reunion with our LI??

My issue is the characters I've grown to love and/or respect are all getting screwed over by this ending. I'm not saying I need to see little blue children, or see Garrus toasting Shep in some trashed bar, and certainly not one of those Star Wars endings with the parades and medals. I play the game for the characters so I need to know they can survive and rebuild their lives, and that Shepard can actually see his/her friends and loved ones again. Also the ending kind of needs to make sense. The Normandy magically picking up teammates from my side in the heat of battle and everyone abandoning their friend and the battle to end all battles strikes me as if whoever wrote that ending had no idea who or what they were writing about.

[*]Weird. Kind of a sneaky way to announce it before PAX.

Well, whatever.

How is releasing an official announcement to press agencies a sneaky way lololol?

Never mind, still not fully awake.

Well, I've already decided that BioWare Marketing is dead to me, so I'm not going to put any stock in this announcement. As far as I'm concerned, the only kernels to take away from this are that they're going to offer free DLC this summer. As to whether it fulfills any of the claims made in the press release, I will be neither optimistic or pessimistic, I will simply not think about it until it's downloaded onto my XBox and I'm seeing it play out in my games.

And in any case it doesn't address my own personal disappointment with ME3, which starts around Priority: Palaven and ends around Priority: Horizon. The fact that the much-ballyhooed "player choice" element of the game turns out to be little more than minor tweaks and cosmetic changes to the railroad sequence of events was a huge disappointment for me. I really thought Shepard's choices mattered, and that Shepard's team of highly-skilled operatives were the best of the best, and their deaths would have profound impact on later events. Well, we can say that about Tali and Legion, but everyone else can die and it makes virtually no difference in the way things play out. You can cure the genophage, rescue Miranda's sister, and spare the life of Samara's daughter even if Mordin, Wrex, Miranda, and Samara are dead in your playthrough, and you do those things in pretty much the exact same way. And don't even get me started on "Not Legion™", the "new" Councilors and the Rachni Abomination...

Bioware, I am disappoint.

The ending is a steaming pile of turd. An extended ending just means I get to spend more time with a steaming pile of turd while it is being explained to me how and why the fecal matter came to be.

Well IMHO this clarifies two things:

1. They were never planning some elaborate ending replacement scheme (i.e. indoctrination theory not canon)
2. They were genuinely surprised people were unhappy - so much so that instead of being open to the idea of alternate endings, they want to explain the current one(s) more. Which is fine but feels a bit more like they're saying we just didn't get it....

3. In respect to number 2 above, they may have planned the ending for a reason. ME4

I'm not sure if people realize this but the 3 endings are different enough that there really can't be an ME4 that takes place AFTER the events of ME3.

Maybe not ME4, but the endings are so vague and with the blatant "BUY DLC NAO!!!!" at the very end makes me feel like they planned on releasing ending DLC all along. Just now they are releaseing the epilogues for free instead of for $5. So...uhhh Bioware, thanks, I guess? Who wants to bet they'll try to release paid DLC that takes place after the ending still?

Didn't J. Hale say she hasn't been contacted for DLC yet?

Please don't tell me the cutscenes will be voiceless. That would be so incredibly retarded

I hope they have a scene with like Diana Allers or something talking to Traynor about how people keep tweeting her about how Shepard should have done this or that instead of what happened, and Traynor points out how each one is an idiotic idea that would have failed completely. Then they hook up.

I like to think BioWare is still writing the DLC.

Further clarity and closure won't take away from the fact that the ending is conceptually inconsistent and a horrific example of both science fiction and role playing games. Ah well, the damage has been done and it seems like they don't want to win us over by showing us they can actually do better.

My feeling on this is mixed. I'm dubious sheer clarification can fix the ending. However I don't really see how they could change the ending and fully maintain artistic integrity. Further I don't see it entirely as a problem of adding to the ending, the entire London section onwards should be fair game for review IMO and that means shortening, tightening and even removing from it.

However I'm sure it will be an improvement (well pretty sure) and I'm glad its happening.

I got this being another train wreck that will light up the forums and kill their sales more.
