Well... I guess it's better than nothing. At least I've got a headcanon already.

Actually, clarity almost makes it worse. Clarifying something I've written off in my head only makes it harder to ignore.

I actually really enjoyed the ending, but this is still extremely exciting. The lack of closure and clarity is all I really didn't like about the ending as is. This is great, BioWare!

So due to the LACK of CLARITY in his statement, and his use of the term Artistic Vision ; I will-

1. I tell the rest of Cougar Pack gaming club not to buy the game until after this DLC patch is out. - If at all.
2. Warn any and all About EA shoddy business practices.
3. Not spend one dime more on anything they are associated with.

No matter how much you dress up a turd, it remains a turd.

Why couldn't the official announcement have been from Bioware and not EA?

This is a LIE
http://www.ea.com/news is the REAL EA news column.

Then Forbes is lying too I suppose.

I like this article. It esentially says that (among other things), after they clarify the endings they may be able to still add post-ending DLC sometime down the line. It all depends on how they clarify it. I could get behind this.

Well, it will be interesting for sure. I hope that it turns out well, and they take their time they have several months to get there. I hope Bioware/EA understands that this will be important to many people (on both sides) as to whether or not they have a future success. Creating something cheap and tossing it out to attempt to justify their own is not going to fly well, and while I always expect the worst and hope for the best, well..that is just where a lot of people are. Here is hoping

Bioware, I am disappoint.

The ending is a steaming pile of turd. An extended ending just means I get to spend more time with a steaming pile of turd while it is being explained to me how and why the fecal matter came to be.

...or even how it ended up being excreted in three different colours.

SCOOBY DOO ENDING COMING SOON!

Didn't J. Hale say she hasn't been contacted for DLC yet?

Please don't tell me the cutscenes will be voiceless. That would be so incredibly retarded

For the most part i'm pretty sure it will be cut alpha cutscene (CGI and game engine) that should have been in the game but didn't make it because of time or something else.

confirmed via Twitter by Priestly, among others.

Even if that DLC is going to clarify all this crappy ending, it probably won't satisfy majority of upset fans. The ones which are happy with poor writing, or maybe those who just wan't Normandy scene explained, will be probably satisfied.

Bioware missed the chance to satisfy the moment Mass Effect 3 went gold. No matter what they do now, there will be months of anger, sadness, confusion, and waiting for whatever they do next, even if the extended cut is successfull. This is why Valve and Blizzard are the top gaming developers. They don't restrict themselves with timelines.

I really wish they were actually listening to the things we were saying. We don't give a damn about their artistic vision. GET RID OF THIS CRAP WE HAVE!

Expand and clarify....so they are just going to flash a big neon sign that reads "You're being Indoctrinated!" the entire ending?

I kid. But before everyone has a complete meltdown WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW.

only ONE (ok, two) question

will it matter if our Shepard is alive at the end??

will we get our reunion with our LI??

What, and destroy their artistic vision by removing the fact that the character you cared for the most will be plunged into depression thanks to you bothering to take the time to try to make them happy? The whole LI thing is currently like giving a kid a puppy at Christmas and then dropping it into boiling water in front of them at Easter. Can't see how "clarification" could possibly change that unless you're really stretching the definition of the word.

They announce this this close to PAX? I'm happy and all but it does seem like an attempt to take the wind from the sails of possible angry Mass Effect 3 fans during the PAX panel so they can avoid awkward question about the ending.

Hmm...hey, you know there is a Legal Notice on the site that EA announced this Extended Cut?

Maybe we will wait for official info from those we do want to hear from.

I echo this sentiment. Maybe it will be enough. Maybe it won't. It would, however, be hard for them to make it *worse*

haha, great point.

Because BioWare is a division of and owned by EA? What difference does it make who announces it?

Least they're giving us something.

Still sad that an ending of a game needs a free DLC to explain plot holes...if they even do that.

I'm thrilled. I didn't expect them to flatout change the ending. I hardly expected them to do much of anything with the game except DLC. Now I get clarity, and hopefully closure. That's all I've wanted all along. A sense of "my choices matter, and I know exactly what happened"

This was extremely important to me also, however it would have been nice if there was a full spectrum of endings, from best (rainbows and unicorns) to worst (armaggedon).

My guess is they hate the possition EA stuck them in or they are rehearsing their personal lines to be used at Pax.

Unfortunately not. More of the same is worse. A bigger dungheap just stinks more.

Uh no. Thats why I support them in not changing the ending. I actually don't want to play a game made by delusioned fan.

It's gonna take a heck of a spin to come up with something that does not contradict everything that ME has preached for the last 5 years. That is strength in diversity and cooperation can accomplish anything.
