Extended cut - 5 mins of horror turned into 15 mins of horror. Skeptical about this....

What about the ending where they show the chest plate take a breath? Wonder if this will be explained or DLC content for down the road.

Why couldn't the official announcement have been from Bioware and not EA?

I WILL DIRECT THIS PERSONALLY

 Well played.

Well played indeed :D

Yup
DIRECT INTERVENTION IS NECESSARY

Damn they could make a DLC with Harbringer possessing enemies. I miss that...

So they wont be adding all the cut content back to the final mission? Just extra scenes?

From what we can tell right now: yes.

PAX will shed more light on the situation...maybe.

We haven't won anything as the ending won't be changed. And unless they actually continue the game later where Shepard wakes up in the rubble (or some time there after) this ending will be as bad as ever. .. I smell pride.

Sorry to tell you that but...
You've lost before you even start.

This.
The goal of a completely new ending was completely unattainable to start with.

Yeah no it wasn't.

Yes it is.

No. Look at FA3.

FA3???........ If you mean Fallout 3 that is not in anyway the same thing. Especially since Broken Steel was poor at best when it comes to story and was add to cash in on people who wanted to play after the game.

You may all do as you see fit, but I will not be moved by this conveniently placed carrot of information.  I find it very...unique...that this tidbit of information should be unveiled merely a day before PAX and a day after The Consumerists' EA award.  That thought aside, all the announcement boils down to is an official admission of providing free DLC later this summer.  This unplanned DLC will further clarify the ending by providing further information through the usage of additional cut-scenes and cinematics.  At the same time, it will Bioware's artistic vision to remain intact.

Nothing has changed.  The line set between EA/Bioware and its consumers remains the same.  We have only been given more time for speculation.  I remain cautiously optimistic.

I think their reason for doing this was to avoid a riot at PAX.  They didn't want to announce this at PAX and potentially get universally booed and forced off stage.  It gives fans a chance to get angry and then cool down before they go to the convention, so it might not be a COMPLETE disaster for them.

The problem is also if they'd pick up the story again in a future DLC/4th game (unlikely) - one has to ask oneself the question:

how many times can you kill the hero and resurrect him before it becomes incredibly lame?:crying: As fpr this announcement, I am serioulsy not holding my breath with this. Extended cut...I'm not sure if Bioware is aware of this but they're in the gaming industry, not the movie industry.

I understand your point, what what I am really after here is a final comprehensible sacrifice. I have no problem with him waking up in the rubble, only to immediately die, and his friends continuing the fight. Anything that removes the nonsensical mushroom trip out of the picture is good.

Well, it's not what I'd've wanted to hear in my personal perfect world, but who knows. It may be enough. They've bought themselves a few months of me continuing to care, at least.

Using artistic integrity as an excuse is bull**** when it comes to selling products, because in the end: art does not earn you big droves of cash (especially bad art), well designed products do.

Worse than that, its just really bad art.  Like, the ending flat out doesn't fit with the rest of the story.  The radically narrative shift feels totally tacked on.  Standing behind their right to produce really crappy art for the sake of losing massive amounts of revenue is just a bizarre position to take.

I believe we need somone at PAX to ask ME3 panel questions like..
Will there be more gameplay or extra dialogue choices, will there be new ending added including the Reapers win option or argue with star kid,

There are to many unknowns...

Hold the Line!

Bottom line remains still, don't buy any DLC until the endings are "clarified". Than make your judgement after seeing the "clarifications". That way at least if it is a ploy to get us to buy DLC before the clarification, it won't have worked. And if it isn't total bunk then can always go back and buy the already released dlc.

It means everything is staying.

In other words "We like our poop so much we aren't going to flush it down the toilet. We're just going to put a Glade room freshner near it and it will ALL BE BETTER"

LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE! But seriously, I think it's hilarious how BioWare still doesn't understand why most people realize the ending is horrendous and instead see an opportunity to pander, something this DLC is going to have a lot of.

Does anyone remember this article?

Agreed. Especially the nutcase ones that make the movement look bad. I'd thank them but....

As developer(BioWare)/publisher(EA) of the game IT IS THEIR RIGHT to not change anything about the ending art or not. Deal with it once again.

Well, it's free, so I'll download it, but clarity on a bad ending: doubt it's gonna work. Polishing a turd rarely does. Still, hope I'm wrong.

Now i see that old ending was better.

If it's a colourful explosion that lets my Shepards settle down with his/her love interest, then I'll feel a bit better. It'll still be a ****, ****, ****ing **** ending, but at least it won't also be a ****ing miserable one.

Bloody hell, I'm swearing. I think I might be having emotions.   :-/

I am not buying anything EA/Bioware until I see the DLC, and if they try to legitimize the ending by adding extra scenes and an epilogue, then I will be rage quitting
