It means everything is staying.

Using artistic integrity as an excuse is bull**** when it comes to selling products, because in the end: art does not earn you big droves of cash (especially bad art), well designed products do.
Worse than that, its just really bad art. Like, the ending flat out doesn't fit with the rest of the story. The radically narrative shift feels totally tacked on. Standing behind their right to produce really crappy art for the sake of losing massive amounts of revenue is just a bizarre position to take.
As developer of the game IT IS THEIR RIGHT to not change anything about the ending art or not. Deal with it once again.
As a customer of the game IT IS OUR RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. Deal with it once again.

The free aspect bugs me a little. If I've learned anything, it's that nothing in life is really free. Somehow, EA/BW will recoup the production costs of this DLC. Don't get me wrong, I like free. I just know corporations never really give anything away.

There are a lot of movies where the director's cuts and extended editions have made a massive difference. So again, we shall see.

Well, it's free, so I'll download it, but clarity on a bad ending: doubt it's gonna work. Polishing a turd rarely does. Still, hope I'm wrong.
and it is our right not fall for such "joke" again with Bioware... personally, i dont plan to buy any DLC anymore, or even otherBioware game if they leave ME3 end with such a plot blackhole it ended...

Goodbye, BioWare. It's been a fun decade. I don't trust you anymore, and I won't spend another nickel on your DLC or the ME franchise. I don't trust you to not **** me on DA3, so I won't be purchasing that either. I know my decision won't break your company, but there it is. I was a total BioWare fanboy a month ago - it takes real effort to lose a fan as dedicated as me.
I'll just be waiting for the Marauder Shields comic to wrap up, and that will be my canon ending.
Daedalus out.

You may all do as you see fit, but I will not be moved by this conveniently placed carrot of information. I find it very...unique...that this tidbit of information should be unveiled merely a day before PAX and a day after The Consumerists' EA award. That thought aside, all the announcement boils down to is an official admission of providing free DLC later this summer. This unplanned DLC will further clarify the ending by providing further information through the usage of additional cut-scenes and cinematics. At the same time, it will Bioware's artistic vision to remain intact.
Nothing has changed. The line set between EA/Bioware and its consumers remains the same. We have only been given more time for speculation. I remain cautiously optimistic.
-Always Hope
I think their reason for doing this was to avoid a riot at PAX. They didn't want to announce this at PAX and potentially get universally booed and forced off stage. It gives fans a chance to get angry and then cool down before they go to the convention, so it might not be a COMPLETE disaster for them.
Agreed. Especially the nutcase ones that make the movement look bad. I'd thank them but....
I don't think (like some people believe) that there are any fans crazy enough to like rush the stage screaming or anything, but they could potentially have a lot of angry hecklers interrupting and overshadowing whatever other announcements they have. This is their move to try to avoid that.

I am not buying anything EA/Bioware until I see the DLC, and if they try to legitimize the ending by adding extra scenes and an epilogue, then I will be rage quitting
Quote from the news:
"Through
additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Mass Effect
3: Extended Cut will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending
of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey
concludes."
That is exacly what it will do.

Wow, a free content release via XBL? EA/BW must have pulled some serious strings or raised some serious hell with MS to pull that one off.
Microsoft will never allow a game to be subpar especially a big game like Mass Effect, Battlefield, Call of Duty and such on xbox 360. Thats why they are okay with letting this go.
