"Do we appreciate the passion and listen to the feedback delivered to us by our fans? Very much so and we are responding."

By giving them the bird?

People who were expecting a different or alternate ending were deluding themselves for a while now.It has been clear for a while that they were going to keep the endings as they were. Why can't people just accept it and move on, because I have accepted the fact that this is what we get, i do not mind closure. We'll have to wait and see but again those who expected something completely new were dreaming.

I am not deluding myself about a different ending.  I'm simply giving Bioware two VASTLY different options.  Fix the ending properly, and I stay as a fan.  Don't fix it properly, and I walk.  I require a proper ending to stay as a paying customer.  I do not delude, dream, fantasize, or ****** about it in my dreams. It's simply what must happen for my faith in them to be restored.

Well now you know, they aren't fixing it. Just explaining to you.

Well, unless this patch (and I will only use that word since you are simply fixing a broken part of the game) does something completely unexpected, you've lost a customer for life. Congrats Bioware, in 10 minutes you made my tune change from Mass Effect having the best Sci-fi universe ever created to it being that universe with so much wasted potential. It's great you're married to your idea of blowing all all the relays and the Citadel in 2/3 of your endings. You know....two of the defining features of the franchise.

Welcome fans, you've crossed the border from Mass Effect to boring sci-fi universe #24. Oh, but in this one you get to fly in ships that go faster than light and meet several alien races.. Maybe now that the Citadel is gone the alliance will be renamed...I don't know....the Federation. Oh, and since Earth is saved we can put the H.Q. there. OH! I bet San Francisco is mostly cleaned up by now, that should be a great location.

I won't be unreasonable and uninstall all your games from my PC. I already paid for them, if I can stomach it maybe I'll replay one someday. DA2 was strike one. SWTOR strike two. ME3 and your reaction to the fanbase were strikes 3 and 4. Can't wait to see how CD Projekt upshows you next.

I've heard that Mass Effect storyline will merge with Warhammer 40k one.

I dont know what everyone is peeved about.

The ending as-is is broken, and it's very, very difficult to see (to put it mildly) how any amount of "clarification" can possibly explain away the gaping plot holes.

If we're honest, though, this is about the best anyone could've reasonably hoped for. What the whole business about it being more personalized means remains to be seen, I guess. Some tangible effort to make it feel like my choices at least have an effect on how the ending cutscenes play out would be... well, better than what we have now.

Congratulations Bioware, you just lost a loyal customer since Baldurs Gate. You can keep your artistic vision where it belongs and you won´t fool me again. I will tell all my friends, that they should avoid Bioware games as it seems you have now the habit to kick your true fans with your artistic vision right into the nuts. Hope the responsible persons will feel directly the negative consequences the brought with their great artistic vision.

I'm still in wait and see mode, I still want to tell the star child to stfu and then beat harby, if the endings are still only going to be rgb, that still pisses me off? but the closure may be what we were looking for, but how can you get true closure based off of the ending...

Last paragraph,... your proud of endings, not changing them.

So, Hudson and Walters keep their "artistic integrity" of an ending , while Bioware loses its reputation as a quality game developer and thier fanbase in the process.

Thats my opinion.

I hope many of the 90%+ people at Bioware who had nothing to do with the ending take their cue and leave to form their own development game company. I am not purchaing anything Walters & Hudson are attached to in the future and will start my boycott of this Bioware and all of EA immediately and forever and will tell every gamer I know to do the same!

Loyal customer since KOTOR lost.

Just venting here... Had to think on this a bit. This is most likely just another PR tactic timed in response to the "worst company of the year award" and their upcoming PAX panel, but I'm going to assume that this announcement represents a legitimate plan of action that is being implemented by BioWare.

This is not what we wanted(most of us, anyway), but it is better than no response at all for now. So there's that at least...

I never truly expected BioWare to actually admit fault and fix their ending, but I remained hopeful. Unfortunately, it just isn't their style and EA probably wouldn't stand for the developers of the story-based IP that they purchased admitting that the ending of their epic trilogy was poorly written.

I would have preferred there to be some Indoc Theory type pre-planned trick as I'm sure many others did as well, but I think any faith we were holding on to has now been sufficiently shattered.

This is enough of a response to not completely write off BioWare in the future, but it does not excuse the failure of the product that they released and the betrayal of 5 years of passionate fan support. The ending is terrible and trying to explain why the developers think it is good could potentially just alienate a large portion of the core fan base even further. The game was promoted using vague misinformation and even outright lies in order to placate the hardcore fans while they pumped out something to bring in players who DID NOT LIKE the previous two games.

No. No DLC purchases for me. No more pre-orders of BioWare or EA products. No new purchases of their products at all, in fact. They have placed themselves in the "Rent First" column at the very best or the "Purchase Used" list at the very worst. After a few future releases that make up for what they did with DA2 and ME3 I may take a chance on them again.

This announcement has done just enough to prevent me from trading in ME2 and 3 and never looking back. I will hold onto a sliver of hope until "this summer". I will check out what they have planned as "closure" and reassess my opinion of the developers at that time. It is possible that they will produce something that is so full of an honest love for the franchise and apologetic respect for the fans that my heart will grow three sizes and I will shed a single shimmering tear. If that happens, then all bets are off.

A fragile hope indeed.

All of those not owned by EA. Give others a chance, you surely will find atleats one that provides something interesting. Not that Bioware isn't interested in RPGs or RPSs anymore there should be new room on the market.

Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?
No. BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, butno further ending DLC is planned.

I will remain cautiously optimistic. I have no plans to buy any DLC for ME3 until this extended ending releases though. I am curious what we will get specifically- is a fourth choice going to be added to refuse the star child? Or will they just explain the relays being destroyed/Normandy crashing and explain what happened to everyone after the fact?

Now we just have to be a bit more patient. Hopefully they will still give some more details on this at PAX, but now I doubt they will.

At least there is always the possiblity to mod it a little to at least get it. But it is still cheap especially since I would play Multiplayer even if I could get the ending where Shepard live.

Yep. With Gibbed's save editor you can change the values of each war asset to get the "Shep Lives" ending without multiplayer.

Agreed. I have been telling myself to be realistic and not expect too much. Still, it is kind of disappointing to see reality winning.

Thanks for the good times, Bioware, really. Time to sell back my copy to Gamestop.

Yeah, they should patch it so it's not needed, but....

Anyway, hoping this new "clarified" ending will leave us with a hopeful feeling and not with this bitter taste that the current one does.

Your artistic vision for the end of this arc is awful. It renders the journey meaningless. Clarifying does not help.

"...The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game."

Then you have failed. Utterly and completely.
