Hi All - this is true and you can read more here:

Your artistic vision for the end of this arc is awful. It renders the journey meaningless. Clarifying does not help.

"...The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game."

Then you have failed. Utterly and completely.

lol.

Pretty much.

So, I'm guessing Shepard STILL won't be able to debate the Catalyst? We'll be stuck with the "I... I don't know" stupidity?

That's just a guess based on the fact that the endings will remain unchanged, because debating the Catalyst/pointing out the stupidity of his logic, etc., should at least give Shepard the option of making a different choice.

So... Shepard's still going to go out like a punk.

From the Bioware blog:

"Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?

No. BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.
"

I'm done Bioware. You've gone from having me in full on "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" on ME release date to a completely lost customer. If you can't see what a big mistake that "artistic vision" was, then I don't feel safe buying anything else of yours.

Well, that's it then .. they've finally put their cards on the table, decided to hide behind artistic integrity and offer token effort under the guise of benevolence as many of us were resigned that they might. They've delivered the most disappointing ending in gaming history (imo) and they're standing by it; that's their choice but also their gamble. They're betting that we won't stand by our principles; that we'll continue throwing money at them.

I'll show them otherwise; I've made my choice. Each of us needs to make that decision for him/herself.

At least now, we can accept it and don't have to haunt the forums hoping for answers. Thanks for the update, Derek.

Well, I have read and despaired. It is as bad as I always thought it would be. .. Unlike others, I still love the game. I will get all dlc's (because I don't like having incomplete products. yeah, I'm a sucker that way) and I will probably enjoy them. However, that being said. I will in the future be very very restrictive with any other investments from both Bioware and EA. While it is you artistic choice, It is also my choice to stay away in the future. I will wait until I know that a game isn't sent down the meat grinder before I purchase. It will mean that I will loose out on exclusives, but I will also not be stolen of both money (and most important) time.

I am deeply disappointed that you were unable to swallow your pride on this one. Far better authors have changed their art due to public criticisms.

My first reaction is that they are just going to "clarify" things things most fans already know, like the Normandy crew never gets off the planet they crash on and galactic dark age. It seems like the only thing they can really "change" is the starchild scene, and that is by using the original version of the script and not the version they shortened to leave room for speculation. Bioware, I am dissappoint.

That FAQ is really a piece of arrogant bs. BW grow a pair and come clear, you can't hide behind artistic integrity if you've shown no artistic vision.

I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this...I mean, we're getting
additional content regarding the endings for free, so that's pretty
awesome and it shows maybe some little part of Bioware/EA still has a soul and cares about its fans.

So why then do I still feel aprehensive about this?  Mind you, I doubt I'll buy any DLC that may come out between now and when the Extended Cut hits.  I just don't know, I'll have to wait and see how much "closure" these extended scenes bring.

All in all, I think that's mission accomplished for those of us who were displeased with the endings...or at least mission over, not sure what else could be done after this.

Actually, I'm not surprised EA doesn't give a care about their customers. They treat their employees like garbage, why would we rate any higher?

Am I crazy to say that I really don't see a problem with clarifying the current endings AND adding a few additional, alternative endings?

I think completely retconning and changing the endings is too much. But won't MOST of us be placated if we have a choice to get clearer "A, B, C" endings AND a few more?

What's wrong with that? Wouldn't many be happy with something like this? And we get to play the game some more! I'll pay for a few additional endings.

Does that ruin the artistic integrity of the current endings? I don't think it would? No, it really shouldn't, should it?

i agree with this.

You're NOT getting any additional endings. Read the press release. It explicitly says that the choices will be exactly the same, they just explain them a bit more.

Yes, that is correct. And if you want to look at my forum history for the last 3 weeks I've been saying this exact thing. What I've been saying: I've been afraid we wouldn't get additional endings, I appreciate BioWare and their artistic vision, I *guess* I appreciate clarified endings, and I'm sad that I don't get more choices.

I've had a deep, harboring fear that we wouldn't get additional endings, didn't change the fact that I felt like offering additional endings were a fair way to both please fans (and make a bit of revenue too) while still holding onto BioWare's artistic integrity with the current endings.

Well don't worry guys the totally 'listened to us' and took our 'feedback into account.' What a load honestly, I mean sure there was an issue with clarity in the ending but that is far from what made it a broken ending. You don't just get to silly glue a few extra bits onto the end and magically fix it. As much as I appreciate that its free and that they're doing something, its just a huge display of ignorance on their part.

I love how mad people were about this EA announcement and the Bioware guy is all like

"HEY GAIS HERES SOME MORE INFO TO READ :D:D:D"

And it just absolutely kills everyone here. It's just so sad and awful I almost have to laugh.

I guess this is good news for everyone but what still boggles my mind is "lots of speculation for everyone" and starchild was their intended ending, i just don't know what they were thinking.

If this additional ending scenes and cinematics can indeed offer the feeling of closure, answer the main part of plotholes and make me say "this story ended like a damn good sci-fi", this is completely ok by me.

I can understand that why this is not the thing you guys are looking for, but it is good compromise between the customers who are currently split. If you take a look at Mass Effect twitter account, you can see that there are also a whole bunch of people who basicly yell "dont change the damn endings", not as numerous as retakers of course, but a considerable amount.

While I still support the retake, I'm aware that this can be a better solution IF the new content can offer the movie-like, good story closure and better explanation. This is a pretty hard thing though; but I'm willing to wait and see for now.

*firmly plants self on the fence* Ill download the extended stuff and then make my judgement. Right now we only have the intial annoucement to go on. For all we know the Starkid of utter doom is Harby. Ect.

Since its a summer release IE May-Aug. Then the closure stuff should be somewhat extensive. Heck if the PC modding community can do stuff like this in a few days...

Then a few months to provide some closure would imply they want to do more then even DA Origins.

Will be somewhat hopeful until I see whats in store with this addon.

I wonder who it was Bioware were listening to then? It wasn't me, honest, not my fault.

If they really felt that way about their "artistic choices", why did they not just explain to the fans in a blog post what we as the players obviously "missed" because they know all the answers to those questions we have about what happened.
