So... Star Child is still canon, the ending is still tricolour, and BioWare is proud of that?

On the one hand, closure (assuming there is closure, and not more speculation).

On the other hand, space magic. :wizard:

Nice that it's free, since this is almost the least they can do, but I'd rather have paid DLC with some new endings. BioWare/EA is really missing an opportunity to milk all of us unhappy people for cash. I'm almost disappointed in the failure of their corporate greed....

Well, that's it then .. they've finally put their cards on the table, decided to hide behind artistic integrity and offer token effort under the guise of benevolence as many of us were resigned that they might. They've delivered the most disappointing ending in gaming history (imo) and they're standing by it; that's their choice but also their gamble. They're betting that we won't stand by our principles; that we'll continue throwing money at them.

I'll show them otherwise; I've made my choice. Each of us needs to make that decision for him/herself.

At least now, we can accept it and don't have to haunt the forums hoping for answers. Thanks for the update, Derek.

Yes.

If all we are getting is 'clarity', and nothing content-wise is actually changing, free or not I don't think I'm getting it. An epilouge is pointless with destroyed Relays. What could be said in an epilouge? "Well, due to a lack of resources, everyone is starving and riots are breaking out. Earth simply can't sustain everyone. The rest of the Galaxy isn't in too good of shape either, seeing as the destruction of the Relays, and by extension all of Galactic Society, has sent many into a wild panic, again insighting riots and causing many governments to resort to marshall law. In short, everything is going to hell. I knew that Crucible was a bad idea."

And also, I wouldn't feel much better if I get a cutscene with Joker picking up my crew and speeding off without me. Nor would I feel any more fufilled with the Catalyst talking more about the Reapers or their origins, or more of his philosophy about synthetics being evil.

More of the "Yo dawg, so I heard you don't like being killed by synthetics, So I made some synthetics to kill you every fifty thousand years so that you don't get killed by synthetics." BS isn't a good thing no matter how you 'clarify' it.

I'll wait until I play it to judge. Crossing my fingers so they remove the ridiculous Joker scene.

From the Bioware blog:

"Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?

No. BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.
"

I'm done Bioware. You've gone from having me in full on "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" on ME release date to a completely lost customer. If you can't see what a big mistake that "artistic vision" was, then I don't feel safe buying anything else of yours.

I don't know what else BioWare has to do to prove that they love their fans. Maybe buy each and every one of them a pony?

This is excellent, phenomenal news, even if some are too blind to recognize it.

Bioware please make the three endings "personalised" like you said you would, if you are not going to change the confusing and ****ed up ending. I'm not angry at it, I'm just mind****ed and confused. Please, clear the potholes. Use the indoctrination theory. Use the supposed original ending. Anything. Just make it good.

I guess I will just have to wait and see what they do with this extended cut, but as it seems it will not help the feeling that this universe and game series is dead and done. The destruction of the Relays and the Citadel is like removing the force from Star Wars, it is like removing the federation warp drive from Star Trek, these are central parts of their fundation and if removed they would be nothing.

Ultimatly, Mass Effect will always be remembered by me as a failed idea, and a reminder to never really trust Bioware again, since they don't seem to be bothered by the fact that they lied to their costumers. I do hope this DLC will be enough for me to replay ME3 or any of the games in the series, but I doubt I will play these games ever again.

I can almost guarantee that this will just make the ending even worse... "Artistic vision" I can't express just how much it annoys me hearing that.

In the end BioWare will have wished they listened to their fans, their games are getting worse and worse because they refuse to listen to the people that keep them in business.

->An enraged comment about an "artistic vision" goes here<-

I bet writers and devs wanted to do their best, just some CEO or manager returned from the golf field one day, assembled the team and said "I have an artistic vision on how ME should end like! Implement it or go pack your things"...
That's how it looks.

This is good news. However, I just hope they really listen to what fans are saying, and the extended cut really addresses the actual issues we have.

If anyone from BioWare is reading this - PLEASE, do more with the Crucible plot. It was confusing, and poorly told. If I'm correct, the 3 choices at the end were a result of the weapon design and NOT star child. If this is right, a lot of people did not get that. There needs to be more clarification on the Crucible and how it plays into the end.

all that Bioware has done is show how little they actually listened to the fans... i dont care how much they clarify it, that ending is wrong and calling it art does not excuse that. i will no doubt watch this new video (because thats really all it is) then ill delete the game from the system and pack it away, never to see the light of day again... what the hell do i care if Aria manages to retake Omega if the Galaxy lies in ruins in the end!

Well....this sounds like something....not what I was hoping for...but it's something. It sounds like the ending will still be a textbook example of bad story telling. It still wont really have a climax.

I think we should be proud that we got them to listen to us at all....And I think we are just gonna have to finally accept that they never had an ace up their sleeve. They just wrote a bad ending.

I feel like they're doing the bare minimum in order to get the fans off their backs.

The damage has been done with what they did with the ending to this series, the only hope was that there was something already made to enhance what they provided on disk with a ending that was coherent and was actually tide to the past 200+ hours of game time. Clear up or explaining the ending they have released is trying to justify the poor choice they made when the diverted form everything that made this game so good.

People pissed about free DLC and BW addressing the ending is a spill over from the fact that the ending itself is the issue, its senseless and does not sit with what ME has been and what the customers have grown to like. We all shelled out $60 - $90 expecting quality like they had delivered in the past, unfortunately they felt compelled to try and do something completely different from what made this so great.

Really should have kept it simple and focused on the characters and the story, they introduced a new story in the last 5 minutes, that’s the issue..

Damage is done, they can’t fix this.I won’t play until the summer DLC comes out then I will download and look at it but it just does not have the same feel or appeal ME has had the past 5 years now. Not going to waste time or money on this anymore.

If they're just expanding on the current endings, only the indoctrination theory can save us.

Nothing is going to be removed or changed.  They are only adding some scenes.

Their endings will probably use the same incomprehensible logic (or add more) to try to tie all the other illogical issues together. Will I be satisfied? (which is ultimately what we are all wanting), I will hold final judgement until after I view the extended DLC.
