 summer.......wow,just wow.

Bioware I had hoped that the ending was just rushed and you needed time and some fan input but now it seems like you really had no clue that fans were going to go insane. How on earth did you go from producing the first game if you can't even see how the fans are angry, we don't need clarification we need an ending. People would not have been so angry with mass effects ending if it was coherent but that seems to have gone right over your heads.

Sigh i'm tired of EA destroying the franchises I really love. Do you realize bioware that by creating an ending like that you have essentially destroyed what would have been the new starwars of this generation, the new entertainment that we based all of our fondest memories on. I just....... cannot fathom what is going through your heads right now.

This is just another reason why Bethesda are the far superior company, they realized fans were upset with the ending of Fallout 3 so they released some good DLC that tied things up and offered extended gameplay.

BioWare and their "artistic vision" are a joke.

And how do you know Extended Cut won't be good too? Already played it?

Because it still ends the same, Bioware have already confirmed that.

Hi All - this is true and you can read more here:
http://blog.bioware....3-extended-cut/

No new endings? Because of "artistic vision"?
You've got to be kidding me. C'mon, it's a joke. It's a slightly delayed april fools joke, right?
Ha..ha

They've said the same thing for about 2 week. Why are you even surprise?

Maybe I missed something, but... isn't it their first straight statement?

First company statement however many BioWare and EA head already stated they would not change the ending. Thats what I'm saying.

Maybe it's already on Youtube, made by a player that decided to put some scenes from the game together to make "his" own ending?

At least, it's free, and we don't have to wait. And the guy will not claim to be a genius, with the dumb fanbase chewing on extended-space-magic-story-savers.

"Seriously, if you people knew all the stuff we are planning...you'd, we'll - hold onto your copy of me3 forever. -Mike Gamble"

+

"Michael Gamble
Extended cut was one of the things I alluded to. We are working our butts off to make this amazing, gratifying, and over to you ASAP."

Such low standards.

The ending is full of plot holes the size of a rEAper, how the hell can they possibly clarify them???

They cant, and it will all start up again in summer.  The free thing has a lot of people thrilled but it is a cutscene.  I'm more surprised the reaction is this positive.

too true, I think this is a pre-emptive strike before PAX because they know exactly what was going to happen there (it still may)

"BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise." So the atrocity that is the ending of "Pick a color!" is art now? Motherf-

So long EAWare. Thanks for all the fish.

Your artistic vision for the end of this arc is awful. It renders the journey meaningless. Clarifying does not help.

"...The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game."

Then you have failed. Utterly and completely.

So very true.

It's a compromise. I will wait for the release before praising or being disappointed. I wonder if it will become available tomorrow - offer ends 12 April

I don't have high expectations for this. I really don't. Maybe it'll surprise me and at least be tolerable. Maybe it'll even make things good. But their are just so many elements in the current ending that I dislike that I have serous doubts about it. Fine Bioware you can have your artistic integrety. But I can tell you something you won't be getting. My Money.

I will withhold judgement until I see these clarifications, but I am not optimistic. I don't think the ending should need clarifications I think it should fit with the story. The whole starchild thing came out of left field and the best anyone can come up to explain it is space magic, or indoctrination theory. I believe narritive coherence is important, and I can't see how clarifications can fix that. All I can say now is

Impress me bioware

prove me wrong.

Uggh. I don't want to fight. I hate this. I don't enjoy this stupid, ridiculous, attention-grabbing marketing thingo they're doing with the vague 'artistic' crapola crap crappuppity crappness crap.

*Sigh....*

I just want my game back.

I want an ending that makes sense, a resolution to Shepard's story, emotional closure concening the characters I care about, and a warm glow in 10 years when I think back to my journey on the Mass Effect rollercoster.

*Raises glass*

Here's to hoping!

*Chuggs down contents of glass and then three more, just to be sure*

I think that Bioware have confused 'artistic vision' with 'creative vision', and use 'artistic vision' because there is a common misconception that art is somehow sacrosanct (Usually amongst pseudo-intellectuals who want to avoid criticism). With art, you are attempting to convey or express something, whether it be a feeling, a character, or a philosophy. So, what exactly was Casey Hudson attempting to communicate at the end? If it was that the conflict between synthetics and man was inevitable, then he has failed - it was disproved earlier in the game. If it was that it wasn't inevitable, then he has failed - the fact that the main character dies to support it crushes this intention. If it's that synthesis is the only solution... Again, he has failed, as the points made by the Geth throughout ME3 and ME2 - that we have nothing they want or need, and would rather be left alone - disprove this. The fact that your character must die in the name of a disproved philosophy is not artistic, it's just stupid. Unless of course I've misunderstood, and what Mr Hudson *really* wanted to convey was that life's a **** and then you die. In which case, job well done, and screw you.

So, the DLC will "expand on the existing endings"; here's to hoping something will come out of the "Shepard breathing in the rubble" -ending ;)

I agree to some extent. But individuals on both sides of the spectrum are fanning the flames. Retakers and Pro-enders alike acting like school kids calling eachother "boogerheads" on a playground.

Yeah, i'm not deluding myself to that fact. You're right. I'm not trying to stick up for either side, but it just seems odd that the people who like this outcome are now labelled as "idiots", "****s", etc. Or people who don't like it are labelled as "children" or "entitled".

Thanks Bioware/EA! You have now officially lost a devoted fan since Baldur's Gate! At least, now I can move on. Finally! Closure! What does that mean? How will I go on? Well, I won't ever buy from Bioware/EA again. Still might play their games, though... there are other ways ;)
