The ending is full of plot holes the size of a rEAper, how the hell can they possibly clarify them???

They cant, and it will all start up again in summer.  The free thing has a lot of people thrilled but it is a cutscene.  I'm more surprised the reaction is this positive.

too true, I think this is a pre-emptive strike before PAX because they know exactly what was going to happen there (it still may)

Yup.  Hold the line.

It's vague, and that's one reason we should all wait to see what the content is. Yelling, screaming, and condemning Bioware now is unrealistic and foolish. If this DLC really does stink, than fine, go for it. But Bioware did offer us something, so remember that.

That said, keep the pressure on in a good way. Make sure Bioware knows that just releasing a quick, 10 minute DLC of some cut scenes won't appease us.

But also know, that if they really weren't going to add a noticeable amount of content to this, Bioware likely wouldn't be waiting until summer to release it.

So, the DLC will "expand on the existing endings"; here's to hoping something will come out of the "Shepard breathing in the rubble" -ending ;)

Oh no... I saw what you did there. I don't believe you! Indoctrination doesn't exist! Sovereign need me! I am too usefull to become a slave!

First company statement however many BioWare and EA head already stated they would not change the ending. Thats what I'm saying.

Yes. But it was cryptic. They pretty much said this with Ray's statement over 2 weeks ago and continued. I'm not surprised at all.

Such low standards.

I had hoped the extended cut would have went beyond him taking a breathe, maybe a big bad reaper fight, but we'll see what it is.  I'm already very disappointed, it's gonna have to be beyond good to bring me back to being a fan for the series and franchise.

So... Bioware not only releases an idiotic, plothole filled ending that completely destroys everything that was Mass Effect, but also opts to string customers along for 1 month, with cryptic tweeter posts hinting at great things to come, giving false hope.
Then finally decides to further string customers along untill summer hoping to minimise the backlash untill it finally dies out and maybe sell some dlc in the meantime.

Well ..
-not paying for any DLC of any kind
-not buying anything with Bioware brand on it
-Swtor subscription cancelled

Stick your artistic integrity where the sun dont shine

I believe that it is good that Bioware has actually decided to release this free piece of DLC. And if it actually clears some of the many gigantic plotholes in the ending I will be happily surprised.

Nevertheless the mere fact than an Extended Cut DLC is needed in the first case, to make some sense of the ending and to please to a part of the fans is an stain in Bioware's reputation. That a company that has been characterized for creating good stories has found itself in the situation that it needs to release a DLC to clarify the ending of one of its most successful franchises is (to put it mildly) disappointing.

I for one will take any future Bioware releases with a grain of salt, I still believe in the company that has created so many good stories, but this whole ending debacle has turned my future Bioware games from a sure pre-order to a let's wait until the user reviews come.

So I play on PC, so I can't sell my copy, so I'm thinking of burning it, however since this comes out in the summer, when this inevitably fails I might then blow up my copy on the fourth

what is everyone else going to do with their copy?

Well there goes my hope for a proper ending...
I have always been a gamer who loves a good story, whether it has a happy ending or not. Brilliantly written characters
While their artistic vision may be fine for them and keeping it is important, I even agree with that. But not being able to see, that deus ex machina ending with a few variations, won't be liked by the fans speaks volumes about how out of touch or overworked the writer(s) who came up with it was/were.
Though I highly doubt that a few tweaks to the RGB ending will make it good, OK or even just bearable for me, I have still decided to wait until I have played this "extended cut".
Should what I fear will happen come to pass, I have decided, that I have bought my last Bioware product.
While I loved or liked all games since Baldur's Gate I, this company has it seems has either "jumped the Shark" in terms of storytelling, their pride is too great to swallow, someone gave them the wrong writers block cure or something along these lines.
The sad thing is that to keep my personal integrity, which I am sure people with such high regards for artistic integrity will understand, I will have to stop buying their products, since I have stopped buying any Blizzard games ever since the, in my opinion, the ham handed excuse for an ending of Starcraft II. So it would be hypocritical of me to continue buying products of a company that delivers a worse ending.
Until the dlc comes out I will be playing some multiplayer, to make sure I can get the "good" ending when it comes...
Here's to hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
Cheer's

Here's my take on this.

They have offered what they believe is a fair compromise, and it will, indeed clear up the endings for those who were content with them save for the lack of clarity and epilogue. They have, to some degree, heeded the outcry.

That said, and while I freely own I was willfully deluding myself, I had hoped for additional endings on top of the current ones that brought the saga's conclusion more in line with what was presented to us in interviews even weeks before release. There are a myriad of threads on this, I'm sure most have seen them.

I am not interested in having only the current endings with their grimdark tone that came out of left field, no matter how clarified. So, I will be uninstalling my three games, I'll be unsubbing from TOR, and that will be that.

I do applaud them for doing even this, but it isn't anything I'm interested in seeing.

Edits: Phone = submit button fail.

As far as I'm concerned, this is all I really wanted. The main complaints of most fans seem to be that the endings didn't make any sense, and that they didn't explain what happened to the squadmates. If this (free) DLC clarifies what the hell just happened that that's enough for me.

Admittedly, that seems like a pretty tough proposition right now. That said, I found at least 95% of the game very well written and structured so I'd like to think it's achievable. Or at least I hope it is!

all i can say is :

a polite finger in the air towards EA and Bioware.

You guys clearly have your heads so high up where the sun doesn't shine that you do not even realise that this is not what we are asking for...
The ending doesn't make sense, it doesn't extended clarification... It needs to be rewritten by someone who has a clue about the plot of the entire serie....

I can name 40 people at my school now that are going to pirate every game produced by you guys, and we're students game development... should say enough about how much respect your company has left with people who want to start working in the industry... Yeah, 0 because you basicly ignored your entire core fanbase and believe that the poo you produced is a piece of art that is not to be changed no matter how much it breaks with everything established in the game.

It's not a matter of customer service but a faulty product.

If customers really bailed from faulty products then Coca Cola would never have lived past New Coke.

In the end their customer service has never been the issue and the problems with ME 3 and DA2 will not ruin Bioware, only our perception of their new products.

Well this ****ing suck.
All I wanted was a good ending. A fourth endning, Or something similar.
Reaper dead.
Synths alive.
Shepard in bed with Liara again.

Artistic values my ass.
Bioware. You just lost a good friend :(

And in one fell swoop, my patience has run out. I'm sorry, Bioware, I want to like your games, I really do. But then you do stuff like this. I looked past Dragon Age 2, I thought it was a one-off. I shrugged off Star Wars: The Old Republic, I was admittedly burned out on it after a while. But I draw the line at this. I had hope, but you shattered it. It's a shame, really, I was looking forward to Dragon Age 3. But no, no more. I've run out of chances to give you.

Exactly...

You're surprised? Really? Watch the Simpsons' Lisa Lionheart episode (sorry, not a big enough fan to give you a series and episode no.). "SHE HAS A NEW HAT?" The easily-pleased/distracted-fan is a tragedy of consumer rights that dates back decades.
