rofl, could you imagine if every tyrant and despot in the history of human civilization tried to justify their actions with statements that provided "Closure and clarity"?

What a horrible thought.  You have to know that the vast majority of developers know what a pile of trash ending was tacked on to this.  These folk poured their souls into making a terrific game, but were forced into producing a trainwreck last 5 minutes.

More to the point, if Bioware goes under, we should all be feeling intense sadness.  They've produced some of the bet RPG titles out.  ME1 is still one of the best games ever, as is ME2 and most of ME3. DA Origins is great, as is Baldur's Gate.  That we only will have Bethesda left for good RPGs will definitely be sad.

But really, that's where we are.  I don't see buying DA:3, but I'm certainly not happy about it.  Nor do I want these most awesome developers and writers (I'm sure most of the writers had stomach cramps having to put up with the ending) to lose their job.

And then? Some of the People working for Bioware will continue working for EA, the others will start working for other Studios, maybe even start up new ones. And we will have Bioware2 without EA telling them what to do Image IPB
sounds good to me.

So this extended cut is all cutscenes and cinematic sequences? No further gameplay?

What happens with all the decisions made throughout game and entire series? to nothing but 'choose ending A, B, C...' disregarding everything else??!

I can understand why many are feeling disenchanted with this game series.

This isn't a victory.

It's just to shut a few more people up.

Will Tali get an actual unmasking? No, probably not.

Will our choices get some more weight under them in the ending? Nope, doesn't look like it.

Congratulations, Bioware. You managed to keep your 'artistic integrity' (lol photoshop), but you won't be seeing me spend a single dollar on any more DLC.

Don't speak baddly about photoshop! :(

It's badly.

Don't speak baddly of my mistake!

Gesture appreciated, but reserving judgement.

I must commend you, however, on managing to hit just the right note to entirely fracture the retake movement. Kind of a shame there wasn't this level of insight and precision in the endings.

It's not even really the star child but the choices he gives you. The fact that the red, blue, green are here to stay is not comforting at all.

Firstly, when Mass Effect makes the jump/shift from 'fighting mysterious evil entities threatening the universe' to trying to ANSWER the question of the 'end of man?' (a solution to technological singularity), a topic just as morally/philosophically charged as the ancient and still disputed question of the 'origin of man'... something feels wrong.

Secondly, I truly respect and fully support Bioware's decision to introduce and tackle such a thought-provoking subject in a mainstream AAA game. However, they also trivialize the subject immediately after introducing it by narrowing down 'the answer' into three very contrived/flawed and ultimately morally-bankrupt choices.

These choices very much seem arbitrarily contrived merely for the sake of tying 'weight' and 'CONSEQUENCES!' to them. When really, more thought and care should have gone behind when basically asking player to choose the very fate of the universe for eternity in a setting like this.

There really should have been other options offered by the child that made more sense and not artificially constructed/limited for the sake of inciting 'open discussion/speculation.'

If they want to tackle a thought-project subject like this, they also have to do it right, do it justice, and qualify its place in their narrative.

Whiners will still whine, haters will still hate and the "colors of the rainbow ending will still be there" So I guess they'd better leave it at that. They'll just anger more people and, renew the trolling on the forum

Good Job Bioware, you successfully alienated your fanbase. You know, I will try that free dlc. But 99% chance it will still be terrible. Have fun with not getting money from me. I will be investing in Bethesda or Valve. I was thinking about getting DA3 but you have shown that you cannot be trusted with creating games that are satisfying.

Pulling the Artistic Integrity card on a commercial PRODUCT that is meant to be sold for PROFIT. yeah. sure.

In the current ending Bioware shows you a turd, and the fans asks "wtf is this???" and Bioware says nothing.

With the clarification DLC its more like this:
Bioware shows you a turd, and the fans asks "wtf is this???" and Bioware says "it's a turd".

This actually made me laugh out loud.  Thanks, I needed it.

You're welcome :)

If it's something that has helped me cope with this fiasco its all the wonderful comedy that the reactions to the ending has generated

Jesus christ, no other game company that I know of have changed their ending because of whining. Are you really still pissed? Just leave the forum and play some other game. I've been disappointed by games too but I don't make it a ****ing life mission to make them change that one game.

It doesn't seem like they are changing anything unless you think cut content that we have already probably seem due to it being buried in the game files =new ending.

They are happy with their plot holes and the lies they told to the fans. I have no reason to be happy about this.

Casey Hudson is some sort of weird egomaniac who lucked into this role. Did the guy even go to college? I know he went to glamour shots. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Casey_Hudson

I am sort of okay with this because I thought the Battle of Earth was a bit short. However the endings still...kind of blow. Like, why do I have to destroy all synthetics instead of just the Reapers...

I'm not sure what to think right now. I'll wait until we have more information before I make any judgments. I am disappointed that BioWare couldn't admit they made a massive screw up.

Also, it's nice to see all the anti-Retakers acting like children and insulting everyone. Not every Retaker was an ass, so don't treat them all like one simply because your opinion differs to theirs. Respect for everyone.

Wait, they are keeping the RBG endings ?
One were the Geth and EDI die, the other were Shepard forces everyone to Synthesis (bye bye free will!), and the last one were you "control" the Reapers ?
We still can't at least tell the Star Child that there is another solution ?
Like just killing the Reapers, something we were trying to do since ME 1 ?
All the Mass Relays (and the franchise, in fact) still blow up in every ending ?

....
How does that fix anything ? How does that fix the narrative coherence ME 3 had BEFORE the introduction of StarChild ?

Were they really listening ? I think not...

I want to believe that Bioware can actually salvage the game with this DLC, but I just don't think so. I simply don't trust Bioware anymore, and I'm getting to the point where I can't hear the words "clarification," "closure," or "artistic integrity" without wanting to punch someone.

Hey guys, we should be glad. Bioware got to keep their 'artistic integrity' at the expense of the majority of their fanbase.

I'm fine with that. As long as they can say...
-This is what's up with your crew
-This is what's up with the races
-This is what's up with Joker

Then I'll be fine with it, all I wanted them to fix.

Dude. He was one of the key people in KOTOR and the lead on ME1, ME2. Lucked out my ass.

So you false advertise a product, claim artistic licence, then tell us that you're listening, fans cry out that the product was falsely advertised, that we want what was advertised, especially things stated by the Bioware team after the game went Gold, you say that you've listened to us and are giving us a free DLC that fixes NONE of the false advertising.

Where am I supposed to be happy in all of this? I preordered the game based on what the team was saying about it. They lied. Bioware are liars.

If they don't change the endings, then all those HUUUUUUUUGE plot holes weren't just clever, subtle hints of indoctrination - they were just huge plot holes??

I'm so sad....
