Worst fear come true (for the game not of all existance).
Think I'll skip it, thanks anyway but stretching out a bad thing doesn't sound like a good idea and it may make Indoc theory unworkable so it's a lose lose for me, even if it is free (which is a really nice gesture but I'd have rather paid for an optional alternative, which I've already said multiple times).
I doubt I'd sell ME3 now though, I'm not sure what I'll do with all the DLC to come, multiplayer will be skipped I'd rather not pay more for something with a limited shelf life. I severly doubt I'd be pre-ordering DA3 though or buying it period with this and the fact you just dropped the stories and promised you had made in DA2. There's no point following them anymore.

Bravo Bioware for not letting fear compromise who they are. Better to thin the herd and make some losses in the short term than to be constantly fearful about when the hardcore fanbase is going to blow up yet again.

Seriously? If it were the case that they had not "compromised" who they were (and it's not) why would have decided to relase any additional content.

Make some loses in the short term? What they are doing is a recipe for long term losses. Think people will be buying dragon age III after this?

Hardcore fanbase? So you mean virtually everyone who played the game?

Conclusion:
Bravo Bioware?:   WE HAVE DIMISSED THIS CLAIM.

So no indoctrination theory eh? or any other ending changes?

Seems like they're sticking to their guns and adding a 5 minute cut-scene showing EDI and Joker making magic-babies. Joker and (other squad-mate) high-fiving each other for abandoning Shepard. Tali/Geth/EDI are all alive despite the end-all-biotic-synthetic-AI 'splosion, because they don't count. Meanwhile Earth generates magic-resources to sustain the millions stranded. They can all still communicate with each other using magic-prothean tech that wasn't affected by the 'splosion because that doesn't count either... did I miss anything?

Oh yeah, Shepard... that guy. He wakes up alongside (insert-love interest) in a non-descriptive indoor location talking about how great the future looks... fade to black. WIN!

My sarcasto-meter just BSOD'd.

Well, I have to say at least one good thing about Bioware: they're genuinely sticking to their guns on this. I can't imagine that any amount of explanation will fix this broken ending, but I wish them the best of luck.

More to the point, at least I know I'm done with Mass Effect. As for EA...well, we'll see.

They did not compramise out of fear.  This is a business and they use statistics.  The group of people that did not like the ending are in a majority, or at the very least a very large minority.  They saw that as a business it is better to give the people that did not like the ending a CHOICE to download an extended version would help them in the long run, since those that like the ending as is can CHOOSE not to download the free DLC.

I'll stand in the wait and see camp.

It's possible (though unlikely) they can salvage the ending...somehow. I honestly believe they realize how badly they screwed the pooch ... both from a business and "artistic" standpoint. Hopefully they're not stupid enough to half-ass this ... as they stand to lose a lot from what i consider a "half-measure" solution. By touching/expanding on the endings at all they already offend the "artistic integrity" crowd ... if they fail to deliver a satisfying the resolution .. they won't salvage any of the ending haters crowd. It's a lose-lose if they f this up.

Art for art's sake is an empty phrase. Art for the sake of truth, art for the sake of the good and the beautiful that is the faith I am searching for.

Well, as I said before clarify and closure can take any form. Additional cinematics can make endings more different from each others, which is exactly what many of as asked for. And who knows, they may come with some clarification scenes that will make Starchild more bearable(.....<_< ). Anyway, I will have to see it for myself. When the DLC is out, THEN I will be making any judgement. Too bad summer is so bloody far away.

I don't understand why people are still so unhappy. No one knows what the epilogue will be and what content will be added so how can you be so sure that this isn't what you have been asking for? This is a big win for the fans! Why be so quick to hate on it?

I personally was satisfied with the original ending but am looking forward to the epilogue content - plus it's free! I'm glad that they aren't compromising the story they wrote to appease a segment of their fanbase (majority or minority - it doesn't matter at all). Hopefully they'll be able to flesh things out better so that most can get the closure they wanted.

If you want the Disney ending then maybe you should play games that are rated E.

Well, I'm not exactly thrilled when they say that they're extending the ending, but I suppose I'll withhold judgement until the release it. The optimist in me hopes that they just keep the core themes of the current ending and scrap the existing scenes entirely but the pessimist in me doesn’t believe that to be true. Either way, any ending that has the star-child will be a very bitter pill to swallow.

Typical, Bioware gives in and gives you what you want, and it still doesn't satisfy you.

They're putting in time, resources, and budget into giving you all something for FREE and you just spit on it.

Ungrateful. That's what it is.

It's not what we wanted, and it simultaneously means that what we wanted will never come to pass. The very fact that Bioware are standing behind their franchise-destroying ending shows that they've lost their ability to write. That they are attempting to hide behind artistic integrity is an insult to art and their fanbase.

Bioware as it was is dead. They take the PR route instead of accepting even a small portion of accountability, and choose to treat their fans as idiots who obviously couldn't understand their genius. After taking our money, they make no attempt to provide the things they promised us.

I hope they enjoy their "artistic integrity", because it's clear they have no other integrity left.

I'd much rather have a reduced version than an extended version. Just cut from the scene with Anderson's death to the red explosion and the reapers (not the relays) being destroyed then roll credits.

If clarification and extension means that Shepard wakes up in the middle of rubble in London having been indoctrinated and then heads forward to save the galaxy -- great! I welcome such DLC with great joy and happiness.

If, however, "clarification and extension" means that Bioware explains me how it was possible for the crew to get onboard of my ship and then crash on the planet and how the AI Godchild began this all and how my crew members are now having lots of babies together on the planet far far away -- then count me out. Playing that would be just like taking seconds of a lunch infected with E. coli bacteria.

It'll be like watching a train wreck that takes 15 minutes instead of 5. I won't be able to look away, but I won't be happy. And when it's all over again I'll feel even worse than I did before.

I'm truly disappointed in Bioware :(
